??s for those who say DCL is more $$$

I agree that is misleading. Why would you compare Fall 2004 prices on DCL to Spring and Summer 2005 prices on other lines. Also using a Fl. Resident Rate is not really applicable to most of us.

Useless information IMHO.

Hands down, Disney costs more than other lines (excluding Windjammer and the like). Disney can do this because they have only 2 ships and of those 2, only 1 does a 7 day. I travelled on a 3 day NCL last year for $450 for an outside cabin for 3 people (2 adults, one child). We chose Disney this year because I love Disney. I am willing to pay $3000 for 3 in a balcony stateroom. Will I be willing to do it again? Ask me on September 18th!!!

Erin :D

Sam - I also posted quotes for DCL in the late Spring right up to the repositioning.

In all fairness, here is another (comparing apples to apples for one sailing only):

Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas – May 8th, 2005 – Western Itinerary
Ocean View Stateroom
Cost per Passenger: (3rd and 4th) passengers are children age 3 – 12)
Cost per Passenger:
Fare Taxes/Fees Total
1) 922.20 23.15 945.35 USD
2) 922.20 23.15 945.35 USD
3) 455.80 23.15 478.95 USD
4) 455.80 23.15 478.95 USD

Total: 2756.00 92.60 2848.60 USD

I admit $2848.60 (RCCL) < $4130 (DCL) for the comparable itenerary / date / stateroom. * Florida Residents rate for DCL is estimated to be $2065 IF it is offered

I'm not in marketing - I'm an engineer. I just put up the facts I had on hand, where I got them, and their scope. I drew my conclusions, and it was there for everyone else to draw theirs (even if some of you missed my point)

I'm personally concerned with the discounted rates which affects me and other Florida Residents (I'm sorry DCL doesn't offer that to everyone). I made no attempt to conceal that in my post.

Like I said "not withstanding finding a great deal on another line"

Mjasp,
The kids clubs on Celebrity Cruiselines (Millenium Class) were top drawer when we went in 2002. Facilities of the kids clubs were BEAUTIFUL, the ratio was great (counselors to kids, but I don't remember the exact numbers), and the programs were stellar. We are going back on another Celebrity Cruise in May of 2005, and can't wait! I just posted a thread asking for a bulletin board for Celebrity, if anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it.

Thank You so much for the info. I hear that Celebrity Cruises are first class, but I'm glad to hear they welcome kids.

My conclusion - DCL pricing is very competitive to the pricing of the other lines for similar cruises, not withstanding finding a great deal on another line - or DCL. We've cruised twice on DCL during Florida Residents - very hard to beat those prices ![/b] [/B]

but you gotta be a Florida resident. :(

LOL! talk about an EXPENSIVE cruise!!!

"Hey, hon, let's buy a house in Florida so we can cruise Disney more!!" I'm thinking he won't go for it, but I'll try!! ;)

There is an excellent Magic review on Cruise Critic...by someone called cruisedoc ? It points out how absolutely first rate the ship and its furnishings are, and makes you realize that you get what you pay for. Being a very cheap person I am not completely happy with that message, but for the most part I've found it true. I'll cruise other lines and have a great time, but I don't resent the prices I pay for DCL.
