Another problem you may have with the iPad is that, just like the iPods and touchscreen phones, the screens become extremely hard to see in the sun. My sister and I read outside a lot (front porch, at the park, etc.), and a dedicated e-reader with the e-ink is just like ink on a page. You won't get the glare, backlighting, etc. that you get from other devices. Not that I'm opposed to iPads. My sister also has one of those, and it is a very fun gadget for entertainment. I'd like one myself, just not as an e-reader!
