So, my family of five is going to DL in Dec with extended family. My kids will be 8, 6 and 3, and we are going with my parents, sister and BIL and niece so there might be a lot of times we spit off into groups with the different ages/heights of the kids. It is my understanding that tickets are digital now, and you MUST scan your digital ticket in the fastpass line to be able to use it. Are you able to load digital tickets to multiple phones for the kids? What if my son wants to go with my mom on a ride and I have his ticket on my phone but I don't want to give her my phone? Or what if my hubby and I split up with the kids...I guess my question is am I able to have access to all my childrens' tickets on multiple devices?
And, just to clarify, this is Disneyland, not DW, so there aren't bands. Seems like that would be soooo much easier with little kids.

You will still have physical tickets. Tickets can also be stored digitally on multiple devices and accounts, so anyone in your party with a smartphone can download the Disney app and scan and store some or all of your group's tickets.

Another option some people use is to make photocopies of the backs of the tickets (with clear images of the bar codes) on card stock. You can laminate the copies if you want or stick them in a lanyard, whatever works for you. Kids can wear the lanyards, adults can carry copies of the tickets -- but those copies can be used to scan at the return lines. You can hold on to the original tickets for safety. If the copies get lost, it's no big deal. And as the pp said, the tickets can be scanned on to multiple phones.

Just to clarify. If we have Maxpass and I book the FP using my phone, we can still scan the tickets at the ride? We are going with my parents and they don't have smart phones. So if we split up can they just scan their tickets if the FP was booked with my phone?

Yes. I always scan our tickets (APs, but same difference) because I find it faster. Doesn’t matter how it was booked, the FP is linked to your ticket.

As the pp said, scanning the tickets or your phone will work just fine at the ride return line. Some people find the phone faster, some people find the tickets faster. Some people scan the tickets to save on phone battery. And some people give the kids the copies of the tickets to scan for safety and convenience -- the kids can keep the copies in a lanyard and scan themselves through the line; and it doesn't matter so much if they lose the copy because the parent still has the original ticket.
