Do they have character wake up calls at DL hotels? If so, can you only get them as part of a vacation package?

Has anyone done the in-room birthday celebrations before? They seem awfully expensive, just wondering whether it's worth it.

Thanks! :)

The wakeup calls there are not character. We did have a Costco package. Not sure if you can request a character wakeup.

We didn't do the in-room bday, but we had plenty of bday celebration, so I personally don't think it would be necessary. With the bday pin (which we got when we checked in), DD2 got loads of attention, 3 restaurants brought her a special dessert and sang, and the Grand gave us "signed" pictures, and balloons when we checked in. Also, we had a small staff issue at the Grand -- DH told the desk (we weren't angry, just thought they should know), and then we forgot about it, but they didn't! Cast members came up to our room with two huge balloon bouquets, towel art for DD2 (wrapped in a ribbon w/ her name on it), yet another "signed" picture and two Vinylmation characters. They were very service-oriented and attentive to bdays -- not just at the hotel but at the parks too.

They have a character call but you recieve it at home before your trip.

We've stayed at PPH, DLH, and the Grand between Sept '07 and Oct '09, and each time, when you call to arrange a wake-up call, they offer a character. Each time it's been Mickey waking up my sleepyhead son every morning of our stays...he never quite remembers what Mickey has said to him, but he certainly smiles and it starts the day off right!

We've stayed on a Costco package, booked room only, and stayed on DVC points in the hotel-side of the Grand just before they didn't allow such bookings anymore, so we've run the gamut of ways to book!

The Costco package came with a character call before you left home, but the hotels themselves DO give character wakeup calls, if you just arrange for them the night before.

where you program in the time of the wakeup and don't actually talk to anyone. That wasn't a character wakeup call. I will remember this if we stay onsite in the future!

:thumbsup2Cool! Will have to try it. My DD will love it (or maybe I should do one for each of my sisters and mom in addition to DD?:rotfl2:). Still need to book the character call for her for just before we leave.

Oh, cool! If it's noted on the reservation that we are there for DD's birthday will they give her a pin at check-in or do I need to ask for one? Thanks for the info!

Just ask, they may not think to offer if they want to help you quickly. You can ask for pins too they are liberal at handing them out. Your DD may want you to wear a, We're Celebrating pin.
