RyMickey's Reviews - Part Two - Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, Hollywood and Vine, Big River Grille, and lots of snacks and CS's
Finally I'm back to post some more reviews. My first set of reviews can be found here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1161168 .
Once again, we were on vacation for 14 days and had the DDE card. We were able to use the DDE card at Sassagoula's (since POFQ does not have a sit-down restaurant)
Another note - I'm not going to rate the snacks. I'll just give my opinion.
The cast of our trip was a big one -- Me, DM (Dear Mom), DD (Dear Dad), DB1 (Dear Brother 1), DB2 (Dear Brother 2), DGM (Dear Grandmother), DA1 (Dear Aunt 1), DA2 (Dear Aunt 2), DU1 (Dear Uncle 1), DU2 (Dear Uncle 2), DC1 (Dear Cousin 1), DC2 (Dear Cousin 2) -- and on this leg, we added another aunt and uncle to bring our cast to 14.
On to the reviews:
Friday, June 23
Breakfast - Sassagoula's (POFQ) - Breakfast was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad, by any means. Simply average, but I'm not sure what more you could expect from counter service breakfast.

Lunch - Universal - International Food and Film Festival - We have never cared for Universal food, but my two brothers and I needed something to eat as the three of us ventured into both Universal parks in one day. DB2 and I had burgers. We were both in the mood for a counter-service burger and these burgers were just blah. DB1, though, loved his orange chicken with rice. His meal was, well, a meal, while my DB2 and I were still hungry after we left. Oh well. In my opinion, the rating is
and 1/2 (out of 4
)
Dinner - Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue - My brothers and I didn't want to attend, so while we were at Universal, everyone else traveled to Fort Wilderness. Most had a rousing good time. My 2 DCs loved it and even my DM and DD (who didn't really want to go) admitted that the food was surprisingly better than they remembered it - not as greasy as they expected. Everyone thought the ribs and chicken were mighty tasty. Still, it is very expensive and according to my parents, for our 5-member family of adults, we would never feel it was worth it. Still, it was great for my much younger DCs. According to the general consensus, I'd say that everyone would give this

Dinner - Electric Umbrella - While they all ate at HDDR, my brothers and I returned from Universal and went to Epcot and ate here. It was late (after 8pm) and we nearly had a section of the restaurant to ourselves. I had a burger which was much better than my Universal burger earlier. DB1 also had a burger and we both loved the toppings bar -- This'll sound silly, but we both love shredded lettuce on a burger. It always tastes infinitely better than just regular lettuce. DB2 had chicken fingers. He liked these much better than the ones he had a Sassagoula's and from the bite that I had, I would agree. We always like the Electric Umbrella and it didn't disappoint again this time.

Breakfast - Sassagoula's - See above.
Lunch - Sassagoula's - We had a big dinner ahead, so our family of 5 shared chicken quesdillas and a chicken caesar salad. DA1 and DGM shared a huge taco salad. All of us thought that the meal was the best we had had yet at Sassagoula's.

Dinner - Hollywood & Vine - I hate Hollywood and Vine. I don't really like anything on the buffet, so I'll just remove myself from this review because everyone else loved it. The biggest rave was for the pot roast which was incredibly moist -- no need for a knife, I was told. The roasted chicken also got raves as did many of the sides (loved the mashed potatoes and the tomato/mozzarella ball salad). The peel-and-eat shrimp were good, but they were too small -- too much of a mess for too little payoff. The soft-serve ice cream is always a winner and if you put some of the hot apple crumble over top of the soft serve vanilla ice cream it turns into an excellent dessert. So, if I remove myself from the equation, this was one of everyone's favorite meals.

Breakfast - Sassagoula's - see above
Snack - Cheesecake Factory - Disney Quest - We love the cheese fries from here and they didn't disappoint this time. They used spicy cheese this time (I think they were out of the regular cheese) and they were mighty tasty!
Snack - Wetzel's Pretzels - We love Wetzel's Pretzels. If only they weren't so pricy. The plain pretzels are great, as are the cinnamon ones. The three cheese one that we had was a little dry, so I don't think I'd get that one again.
Lunch/Dinner - Big River Grille and Brewing Works - Ate from the lunch menu, but this was to be our dinner, as well. Many started with the beer sampler of which everyone liked all but one beer (and I liked that one, so I had that one from some people). Four of us had the Blackened Mahi Mahi Caesar Salad. Honestly, I raved about this on my last trip and it was just okay this trip. Not enough fish for my taste and it wasn't blackened enough either. Several had the Big Brew Burger which everyone thought was really good. Someone had the Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich and said the pulled pork was great. My dad had the Flame-Grilled Meatloaf and the taste of beef and sausage together was really good. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent, as well. I would get that the next time. Despite me not liking my meal, I think everyone else thought it was an above-average meal.

) NOTE: DDE Card not accepted here.
Snack - Kringla Bakery og Cafe - Norway - While waiting for Illuminations, some had popcorn, but my brothers and I wanted to try something from Norway. As we walked out of Malestrom, we made a mental reminder to come back for a snack later in the night. So, we got a Kringla with raisins and almonds and a Kringla with icing. The one with almonds was excellent, but the plain one was almost too plain. It was an enjoyable treat and next year, I think we need to travel around to the countries more and enjoy their bakeries.
In future RyMickey Reviews - Cinderella's Royal Table (lunch), Chef Mickey's (breakfast), ESPN Club, and more!
