Ryanair Florida?

I'm going to go against the grain here and say I'll be the first on the flight if this comes to pass. :lmao: I know people are quoting cheap alternative prices with Virgin etc but let's face it those prices are so rare. If Ryanair can give competitive prices for summer time I'll be thrilled. I'd gladly take a bit of discomfort for the long flight and have more spending money (or just simply be able to go in the first place)! If they truly offer translatlantic flights for 10 or 20 pounds or anywhere under 100 I can't imagine the extras (check in charges, luggage charges, taxes) bringing the price up to the same as other airlines. For those of us in Ireland, Ryanair can't possibly be worse than Aer Lingus. I hate them - worst flight I ever had was Aer Lingus - Shannon to New York. We've flown with Ryanair loads of times now and whilst it's basic, it's fine. Bring it on.... :worship:

You will never see a flight to the US for anywhere near £100 i'm afraid, the taxes alone are around £200.
We flew with Ryanair last year to Majorca on a free flight (they do this all the time) but we had to pay the tax which i think was around £50 each and that was just to spain!!

I looked this morning at taxes. An £8 each way ticket + tax will total around £250 return, before you start with baggage and checkin fees.
I also guess the £8 ticket would also only be available on quiet days out of season. School hols will be more.
But who knows there might be good offers to start, might have a sale with 1p each way incl tax. He does know how to run a sucessful airline.

It would work exactly same as their business plan now. Sell X number of seats early at £8 (plus tax) sell majority at enough to make it pay then sell a few at silly prices to make up for cheap flights. They would also try make business class subsidise economy on US routes.
Although many of us on Forums like this want cheap as chips there are many people like my Brother that thinks nothing of paying £1,500+ for a better service or if he had to go economy would pay £800+ because he can't plan his trips more than 1-2 weeks in advance.

I can understand it for short-haul destinations but I just can't get my head round how it would work for the US as it's so much further than, say, Spain or France so the potential loss would be greater if they couldn't fill a flight. Also with the recent spate of companies going into administration i'd be concerned about taking a chance on any price that seemed 'too good to be true' I'll happily be proven otherwise but for now i'm sceptical ;)

I don't know, maybe I have a blinkered view. I see US working better than Europe but eveyone of our family now holidays in US. My Uncles bought Villa in Claremont, Brother having house built in Vegas (selling one he has in Spain, when he can) DMIL Goes with us to at Xmas. Her cousin has just been to Florida. I honestly don't know a member of our family who goes to spain anymore. We have changed our yearly hols from 3 in Europe and 1 in US to upto 4 in US now.
Could still all be rubbish anyway, been Googling and exact same story came out in April 2007, is he any nearer launching such a service or just talk to smokescreen bad results this week?

I was talking about 100 before taxes/charges. At the moment the cheapest summer flight Dublin-Orlando is with Aer Lingus 560 euro before taxes and fees.

We had a great trip to Paris a few weeks ago for 100 euro return for the five of us in total - 5 euro each way incl taxes and charges plus 5 each way credit card fee - they regularly have 'no charges/no taxes' offers.

Dont laugh but I like ryan Air, always been on time, thats all I care about.
Unlike say Monarch last month that were delayed 4 hours going out and 2 coming back!!

I think you need to take a lot of this with a pinh of salt- Mr O'leary is known for his PR skills and hiding the fact he messed up with his fuel hedging and lost ryan air €€€€€€

Also BA and Vs in the past have had sales with the base ticket around £20-30 add on tax and fuel surcharge and it jumps to around £300. So no great deal really

Have you ever been on a cancled ryan air flight? Your on your own- no customer service, no staff no back up. Its up to you. Virgin and BA are there to help- although sometimes it seems bad at least they help- Ryan air do not even have a telephone customer service its all via snail mail.

This personally is hype and probably wont come off, as bad as VS and BA are, they are 1000% better than ryan air.- I don't trust them!

Yes, I get what you are saying, maube I just got lucky, always been no probs with ryan air.I have had probs with BA flights and found there so called help lines infurating and a waste of time, it is all just my experiance though i do know that things might be very differant!

I like the idea of cheaper flights but I dont like the idea of rushing for seats like with European flights - free for all!!!!!!!! No doubt that will be an add on!

I dont rush for seats, there one for everybody!:confused3

Business class will not pay top dollar for anything other than flying into JFK or at a pinch Newark. If you think they will subsidise holiday makers on their way to orlando there is a huge problem here. Flying from JFK to Orlando within the States loses money so why would M O'L make it pay??? Deb,

You just have to look at Lufthansa taking over BMI and the loss of MAN flights, unless you have the true Business people booking it just doesnt work. Virgin seem to be holding their own against all odds for me going direct to the fun. I hope Ryanair never attempt it and if they do I hope they fail miserably because they dont give a stuff for anyone apart from M O'L

None of them to it to be nice, they all just out to make money, I also noticed on the globespan web site yeast then are going to charge for hold luggage!
Virgin was terrible cobination for me when we done it! but they dont ven fly from scotland anyway most of the year, so its ok saying Virgin but no everybody can go from down the bottom of England.I dont blame them, they make more money from england because more demand, thats what it is all about?

If you don't rush for seats you may not be sitting with the rest of your family and for 9 hours it would not be very nice.

We paid for priority boarding for our flight on Monday were on time and still had to rush for seats. Flight was on time though. It lands and the passengers are still coming off as the new ones go on.

I am sure it would be mostly families going to Fl? Surely everybody would get a seat together:confused3
Anyway anybody that sat next to my niece would swap:lmao:

I would fly to Florida with Ryanair... i've been on loads of Ryanair flights, I was even on one yesterday from Paris and they're on time a lot and have cheap flights.

You can get flights from 1 penny each way including all taxes!

I was recently on a Ryanair flight that was only £10!

With the not so great reputation that Ryanair have for customer service and support when things go wrong I think We'd give them a miss. Also, I don't think I really want to be flying London (Manston) to Orlando (Gainesville).

:) Chris

Although I am not sure about Ryanair's service I would have no problem with that route if the price was right. I would drive to any UK(England, Scotland or Wales) airport to any Fl airport if it was worth my while.

At some point (for us at least) price stops being the prime consideration. I'd think about it but it would have to be a mighty fine deal before we'd contemplate doing it. There are plenty of documented examples of people being left high and dry by the low cost carriers and the attitude that some of the operators (mentioning no names) have towards their self loading cargo.
