OK everyone, this is the first proper trip report that Ive put together, but after enjoying the efforts of so many others over the past couple of years I thought it was time to give it a crack myself. Let me know what you all think at the end of our journey be honest, I wont take it too much to heart
.well maybe a little
The cast of our story:
Paul, 37 years young - a fully paid-up Disneyaholic
Helen, younger in years and looks - the most organised member of the family
Ryan, 5 months old - a Disney fan in the making
Our tale begins on the day before we leave for Orlando. For the past couple of weeks we have been putting various bits and pieces aside for the trip. The usual kind of things camera, sunglasses, books to read on the plane (you wont need a book, says Helen, we have a baby to keep us busy this time!).
We check the long-range weather forecast one final time to make sure a sudden cold snap isnt about to envelop Florida and satisfied that its going to be wonderfully warm proceed to pack t shirts and shorts galore. Leave Helen to finish packing I told you she was the organised one and go to do some last-minute school work.
I should explain at this point that Ive been doing an online masters course for the past year or so and my current module finishes tomorrow, so Ill need to post my final papers from the Boardwalk. Ah well, I can thing of worse places to study from. For now though I just make sure everything else is up to date and that the laptop is fully charged.
A quick bite to eat and then its suitcases into the car, along with pet cat Bobo who is going to stay with my mum for the next couple of weeks. Quick journey round the M25/M3 sees Bobo enjoying the sunshine in my mums new conservatory and not bothered at all about the change of scenery.
Next its off to Gatwick for twilight check-in. Weve not done this before, but figured it might be a good idea as we only live about 30 mins away and will be carrying baby, stroller, hand luggage, etc tomorrow. Some very helpful Virgin staff explain the whole procedure quite clearly and were checked in with our requested bulkhead seats for the skycot inside of 10 mins. Quick trip to oversize baggage to drop off the car seat (we have a spare in the car for the trip home) and were done. About 40 mins in all and were soon heading back round the M25 to rest for tomorrows journey. A last check through our pile of hand luggage to make sure we have everything we need for Ryan and then its off to bed to dream of all things Mickey.
