Just ordered the Polar Model PIM15 ice maker for my trailer. Does anyone have experience with this model?

It's suppose to make 30 pounds of ice per day. Small enough to fit pretty much anywhere and is fully self-contained...no water lines in/out. Just pour water into the holding tank and it does the rest.

Just wondered if anyone has used this model before.

Wow that is to cool. I did a search on the www and could not find it. Where did you purchase it?

Yeah - fill us in on this item! Sounds like something the Kiwi is just dying to have!

corgi, you beat me to it.

That's where I bought mine. Savinglots.com had the lowest price and lowest shipping charge I could find. Anxious for it to arrive and give it a test drive before heading to FW in a couple weeks.

I'll be waiting for a report on how it works cause it looks really cool--sorry for the pun!

Just received the ice maker via FedEx. It arrived with no damage.

Plugged it in, filled it with water and the first batch of ice was ready in less than 10 minutes (the instructions say 6-14 minutes). You can adjust for 3 different cubes sizes. The cubes are round with a hole in the middle(due to the freezing rods).

This thing is a keeper! It's going to be a great addition to our camper...and home when we're not on the road. Looks like money well spent.

10 Minutes!!!!!!! I am sooo envious.

Thanks for the update! Gonna get me one of those! Ice is one thing that little fridge can't make enough of and I bet that would make enough for a cooler, too. I like to keep the cold drinks in a cooler under the awning--makes more room in the fridge for food!

How is it doing keeping the ice frozen after it is made?

It did a very good job keeping the cubes frozen once made. If any cubes do melt the water runs back into the holding tank and is re-used for making additional ice cubes. No water is wasted.

We allowed the machine to run for a few hours yesterday. We've been putting the cubes in 1 gallon freezer bags and storing them in the garage freezer for future use (our iced tea machine gets used every day!)

This things puts our refrig/freezer ice maker to shame.

At first I thought it would be better if this machine offered the option of hooking it up to a steady water supply. However, the ice storage bin only holds 150 cubes and there's enough water in the holding tank to fill the cube bin easily. The machine shuts itself off when the cube bin is full. Since you can't make any additional ice until you empty the bin, it's easy just to add water at that time.

If you do a lot of camping or use a lot of ice at home I highly recommend this machine. We could have purchased a couple of these machines with the money we've spent on bagged ice over the years.

Thanks so much for all the helpful information. I want one!!! I did save the web page to my favorites.:teeth:
