Hi Everyone,
I have not been to DL in 3 years. We are going with my nephew and his family. My dd is almost 14 but there youngest is 4. I am trying to remember all the special things to do there. We went often when our DD was younger but I am so rusty.

I am looking for things like:
Princess breakfast
Birthday party

Thanks for the help.

Ariel's Grotto is the place for the princess character meals. They offer all 3 meals. The breakfast is served family-style. A 3 tiered stand with fruit, cheese, cream cheese, pastries, bread & bagels. Then a hot dish with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon & sausage. It was very good & plenty of it.

They also have lunch & dinner that you order off the menu.

I have pics in my trip report if interested. Click on the link below in my signature:

As for the birthday party...... they do offer the Pat E. Cake party at the Plaza inn for $15.99 per person. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2088835&page=22 read post 327 for my review.

I think you'd have a lot more fun celebrating the birthday at one of the character meals or at a sit down restaurant.

Thank you for the help and the link to your photos. They are great. Do you mind if I ask how old your DD and DS are. Trying to get a feel for who in the family is up for this. Thanks Jean

DD is 3 1/2 & DS turned 8 on the trip. He loved the princesses, but he has a thing for the ladies!!!!

At Goofy's Kitchen, my older boys are 22 & 19 & they beg for this meal every trip. So age doesn't always play into the character meals...... just depends on how everyone feels about it.

Hope you have a great trip & a great meal.....which ever one you pick!

I know my DD 13 will go along with anything. My great niece 4 will love it. So will her mom. My nephew 38 is like my husband and will enjoy Jasmine and the rest of time he will wish he was back at the hotel. Not sure about 10 yr old great nephew. My DH is going windsurfing in Oregon when we go, he says he has paid his Disney dues and will not go any more. Actually he has not gone to any of the parks except Sea World in almost 5 years. Which is OK, I have been taking DD and DD's friends on my own for so long I do not know what I would do if DH came. But I diverge.

Ok, I can not stop diverging. I was thinking of your older boys. I was at the Disneyland hotel on business when I was in my 20s. I had my head buried in my work. Goffy snuck up on me and stuck his head in my work. I most of jumped 10 feet into the air, it was very funny.

Goofy is funny like that!!!!!

Where in Oregon is he going windsurfing??? The beach or Hood River??

Hood, River "the Gorge". I just noticed you live in Oregon. Are you windsurfers? My husband loves to windsurf which is funny because we live in the mountains. He is headed to Texas in the end of the week for 10 days of windsurfing. The guys camp in the their trucks so needless to say I am staying home and holding down the fort. DD is still in school anyway so there is no way we can go.

Not windsurfers ourselves, but have stopped in the Gorge to watch.

It's a very popular location & we've never travelled by & not seen a number of people out there.

Hope he has fun!!!! I think you'll have even more fun at Disneyland!!!! :rotfl:

DH has been to the gorge before but not me. I would like to go sometime. I volunteered to help my nephew and family so the older kids can do thrill rides and the little one can talk to princesses. I think it will be a lot of fun to all be together.

You could choose option Number 2, which is what we did in a similiar situation. I took my great-niece and sister to the Princess lunch, and the guys went off on their own. Originally I think they had an on-site plan, but ended up driving somewhere then going back to the pool to swim. We got girl time, they got guy time, and their lunch was WAY less expensive then ours, and everybody was happy. (My DS was 13 and had NO desire to hang out with even Jasmine, although he loved all the the princesses when he was 8!)

What I decided is I will invite everyone and whoever wants to come will come and whoever does not can do something else. I am very easy going so I will make it clear that there is no pressure to come. I like the idea of lunch.

Thanks for all the help.
