Has anyone had a Ruptured Plantar Fascia? I found out a couple months ago that I had plantar fasciitis. Sometime between appointments, I did something (not sure exactly what) and my right foot hurt even worse than before.

When I went to the doctor again, I told him about the additional pain. After looking at it, he said that I probably had torn the tendon much worse than what is associated with Plantar Fasciitis. He gave me a shot at this last visit and sent me to get a walking boot. Where I got my boot asked me if an MRI had been done, which one had not been done.

My DH & I are planning on going to WDW the week of 12/3 to 12/8. I really want to be better by then.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I got Plantar Fasciitis back in August of last year while on vacation. It was a pretty bad case of it but I'm pretty sure it wasn't ruptured. If the other doctor thinks an MRI would be helpful, I'd definately have one. Maybe you could find exactly what is wrong and get some help from there.

I will have to say though, that if this is your first time having PF, you more than likely will not be "cured" by December. Mine just started to feel *almost* back to normal within the last month or so. So I had mine for a little over a year. I think most people that I've heard that have had it, has had it for that long too.

Check out these sites. There might be some info in there to help you out. Sorry you are going through this. I know PF is some of THE worst pain I've ever had. I'm glad mine is just about gone (I have small flare ups now and then)

That stinks. I was recently diagnosed with it and it is MY TENDON that is the cause and not the heel were people normally get pain.

Your post has scared me into doing my exercises more.:scared:

As far "being better" that will depend on what you do or are allowed to do to heal.

For example, I am supposed to exercise and do stretching daily on that tendon. What did your doctor say about that? What is your "healing plan" and "after care" plan? That is where it counts.

As far as an MRI, if you get it covered, go for it.

Well, your MD examined you and "thinks" it might worse than just regular PF based on what???? Your description of increased pain? And he doesn't feel the need to do any sort of diagnostic tests to figure out what is causing the additional pain?

If the PF is ruptured or even badly shredded, what will happen? Will you develop a limp, foot deformities, chronic pain???? Do you want to risk the possibility of any or all of the 3???

An injection of probably steroids and a walking boot is fine...but you still need to figure out what the injury is in there and if it will require more than the low level treatment of PF, which is what and injection and wlaking boot is.

If what you said is all that happened at your visit, I'd be getting a 2nd opinion.

I'm afraid to tell you this, but I agree with the poster that said it won't be gone by Dec. Mine took almost a year to heal and that's with daily stretches. The other thing that really helped alot, is go to any running store and ask for a small green ball, with spikes in it, that you use to roll on the bottom of your foot. It is really amazing how much it helps. It's only like 5.00, best money ever. It feels very strange at first, but then it's like a massage. I brought it to Disney and would use it every day back in the room. Good luck, but be patient with this, it takes a long time.

Interesting....I will have to look into that myself.:thumbsup2

Op, I have had one for 6 months and it still hurts. However, I have found that ice and massaging the foot helps. Whenever you stop to eat or rest you should ice the foot. I went to the first aid center and they gave me a bag of ice. I sat on a bench for 10 min. and iced the foot while I ate ice cream. Just something to think about.

I have had PF for several years now. I don't think it just goes away for most people. I also just found out that I have flat feet, maybe some of the reason I have so much trouble with th PF. I have to wear tennis shoes most of the time.

If they said you had ruptured your PF, I don't understand why they didn't send you for an MRI right away.

I have been dealing with multiple issues with my left foot/ankle for the last 18 months, good luck.

You will need to wear the boot to manage WDW; there is no way that it will heal enough to take that kind of pounding that quickly. Wearing the boot at WDW and icing it every night will prevent you from making it worse by overusing it while it is still injured.

The good news is that getting used to the boot doesn't take long; you should be powering along nicely in no time.

Pack some zip lock bags into your luggage. I would put one in my bad that I bring to the park. On our way back to the hotel room I would stop at the ice machine to get ice so I wouldn't have to go out a second time.

I have had it and all I can stay is go to WDW and rent a scooter and enjoy yourself. I had awful pain in my heel and the pulled something in my arch. It's too long a story but it take a long time before it heals. I really feel so sorry for you.
