We just got back from last week and the very first stop we made was at DTD at guest services to activate our APs so we could use the AP discount at check in.
The very next family to walk into that tiny office was a family from our neighborhood, actually same street! How weird!

Wonder how many times this happens!

Have you also noticed you always run into the same families over and over again on your trip? It was packed, but yet we saw these two families everywhere we went. Same restaurants, etc. How funny... It is like you made the exact same plans for everyday.

I think we have seen someone we know from our area almost everytime (if not everytime) we visit; for sure when we have visited WDW during spring break.

As we were standing in line at Winnie-the-Pooh during a visit in early June, my cousin who lives 400 miles away from me was in the same zig-zag line. We didn't know they were going to be at WDW then.

On our last trip we kept seeing this one family that had been on the Mears bus with us. We always knew it was them because the mom was pregnant and wearing HEELS every time we saw them! Wonder what her feet looked like after a couple days! :p

Earlier this year we were at Epcot, getting ready to leave. DH had a headache, DD (7) was really cranky and I was ready to come home, too. We were all concentrating on getting out of there when a lady cut me off with a stroller. I have knee problems and cannot stop real quick, and I almost fell over. Normally I would not have said anything, but given the mood of everyone, I chose to bark a very rude, "Excuuuuse me," to this woman and her stroller.

She then tells me, "Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Mary's mom! And Emily is in her class!" And DD is talking to this girl in the stroller.

I felt so AWFUL for barking at her! I did not even know her, yet DD did. We exchanged pleasantries (lol!) and were on our way.

Too funny!

Last year, my parents came with DH & I, but we separated many times to do whatever we wanted. Well, while hubby & I were on Star Tours, I sat next to this guy who introduced himself to me as "Skywalker." A very distinctive guy, he looked like Bootsy Collins, with the funky hat & lots of gold jewelry. He was really having a great time, there all by himself. Well, the ride ended & we went our separate ways.

When we arrived home from the trip, we sat down to watch the video my father took. One particular part was from a day we spent at Universal. Once again, we were separated. Well, DH & I nearly fell off the couch - right there, next to Scooby Doo, was good ole 'Skywalker." We still can't believe it! Of course, my parents had no idea why we were so hysterical! :D

Last summer while walking through AK we ran into a family from DS's school(their DS is in Cams class). We were there with another family from school so we ended up having 3 of the first graders with us. They had a blast playing in the boneyard together. We also ran into them again on our last night, while arriving at MGM. It IS a small world after all.

Last year we saw my daughter's 8th grade science teacher - my daughter was now in 9th grade - at the Kali River Rapids ride. We were waiting in line and her teacher was taking her little girl out of the ride to go to the BR - we didn't want to stop her to talk! Anyway, we had dinner at Chef Mickey's the next evening. I was standing at the dessert table and talking outloud about one of the desserts. I wasn't looking up and a woman next to me told me that one of the desserts was very good. I looked up and it was the science teacher. Brought her over to see my daughter and they were both thrilled!

We always seem to run into someone. Nobody is ever surprised to see me, as everyone knows I'm a huge Disney fan. Usually the people start asking us questions to help them. We always love it when we run into people from home!!

Last June we were at Sea World watching the dolphins and trying to feed them i had my eye glued to the video camera and my own kids and all of a sudden this boy that was standing next to my 12 yr old DD just looks up at her and says "hi, olivia!" It was a boy from her class and considering we live in a very small 3 streetlight town that was pretty shocking to us and to the boy! However, my 12 yr old DD being like all pre-teen girls just acted like it was no big deal and rolled her eyes. ( we have her borderline rudeness on tape too!)

But once summer was over and it was the 1st day of school the teacher was asking where everyone went on vacation and my DD and the boy told the class/teacher that they saw each other at Sea World and they all thought it was very cool. So now suddenly my DD thought it was very cool too.

It's happened to us twice. The first time, we ran into DH's boss at MK; he was on his honeymoon but we didn't know that's where they were going. Another time, we ran into a co-worker and his new wife at PI; we knew they were going to WDW but never expected to bump into them. Both meetings created fond memories.

I JUST this minute got off the phone with some of our friends, and told them that we were headed off next sunday to Disney.. and Our friend Mike said " yeah, we get there the 5th".. I was shocked and said " WE'LL STILL BE THERE ON THE FIFTH"... we will have to meet up.. I then preceeded to get very jelouse, because he is staying at AKL with the 5 for 7 for only 3000 dollars... and I am staying at ***, and we spent 2300.. LOL... Both of our family's are newbs to Disney, and you vets are probably saying " My lord they both spent way too much".. But both of us paid rack rate with packages straight from Disney.. No discounts, no AAA discount.. nadda.. LOL.. I am also staying for 8 days where they are getting the 5 for seven.. so, I am paying for all my days where they are only paying for 5.... But still.. For some reason AKL with a Savanna view for 3 grand is seeming kinda cheap to me.. lol.. oh well.. next trip.. LOL

whoops.. I didn't curse up there... I abriviated All Star Sports... ( but with a little AS s like that.. LOL.... ) but it cencored me.. LOL.. sorry 'bout that.

One time, I ran into the Mayor of my city at MGM. Another time, I was eating breakfast at the CSR, and heard someone call my name, and it was my old boss. It seems like pretty much every trip I run into someone I know.

Oh, and I definitely see the same families over and over again. When I travel solo, I tend to chat with families on the bus, and it always seem to run into the families I chat with over and over again during the trip. The kids usually point me out because they remember talking to me (I'm an adult who talks to kids like they are kids not little adults so kids tend to remember me).

When I was at MGM over Easter I noticed a girl who I thought looked like one of the middle school students at my school (I teach elementary). When I got back to school I was talking to another teacher who happened to have this girl in class. He said "Hey Katie! Did you go to Disney World over break??!" She said, "yeah, how did you know??!!" it was wild as it was very packed!

When we were visiting DLP, we ran into a 6th grade classmate of our DD there. The two of them reconized each other first. WE live in a very small town and the chance of running into another person from our home town, in another country, was just really too weird!

This has happened to me three times!

The first time was the biggest shocker. It was in 1973 and my first trip. I am from PA and I was looking in one of the shops and all of a sudden a man grabs me, swings me around and gives me a big kiss. It was my Uncle from Missouri!

The second time I was there with DH and DS and we ran into a co-worker of DH. That time we had know they would be there the same week we were and were not supprised to see them.

The third time we made a very, very last minute trip on Jan 2. The first morning we went to breakfast at CSR and a young man called my sons name. It was a frat brother of his from college. Unforunately he was leaving that day so they didn't get to spend any time together.

Due to construction our kids aren't going back to school until Sept. 20th this year. I think about 3/4 of the district is heading for Disney in Sept. (including us). How much do you want to bet that with those odds we don't run into a single family we know? (LOL)!

On our first trip in 2000 we actually ran into two families that we knew. One was even staying at the same resort as we were.

We saw some of our best friends at Sea World last week. They moved away last year, so of course we enjoyed the entire day with them. What a great suprise!

It seems as if we always run into someone we know!!! In February, we ran into THREE families from our tiny Catholic school - weird!!! A few weeks ago while we were there, I saw a couple from my hometown, but wasn't close enough to say hello in EPCOT. Also this past trip I saw a dear friend who had just gotten there that day (we were in the middle of our trip). They were staying at WL and we were staying at the Contemporary. We were apparently both on the same monorail coming back to the Contemporary. She and her family were coming to the 15th floor to watch Wishes, and I was coming back to my room to watch the same thing!!! I had not seen her in a while, so it was a VERY pleasant surprise!!!

I have the reverse story. My DH works at Lowes Home Improvement and one day a woman and her small daughter were
near him. Suddenly DH hears the little girl say "Mommy! I saw HIM at Disney World!". The woman just laughs and says something like "Honey, that was 6 months ago!". DH says "Were you there the first week in December?". Woman looks stunned and nods while her daughter beams! He explains we go 2-3 times a year and then talked with the little girl about her favorite rides.
My question to DH- What on earth were you doing that she remembers you 6 months later? (Granted, I do think he is a handsome fellow, but still...)
