Running into people you know, etc.

My DH is a Yacht Club Manager and we tend to see people we know wherever we go.

I know that every time we have been to WDW we have seen someone. We have also seen people in Hawaii, California, North Carolina, etc.

Quite a while ago we saw a member and her sister while we were at the Christmas Store at DTD.

A few years ago we saw former yacht club members while we were in WS at Epcot. They had moved to Florida several years before.

One year we saw the niece of the previous family at Pizza Planet at MGM. Her mom and dad are also members.

This year we took a last minute Easter trip. Very few people knew we were going. While at AK for early entry we saw my DH's asst. Cubmaster. We had no idea they were going at the same time.

I have convinced DH that he could never have an affair because someone would see him wherever he goes:p .

Last year we ran into DS's best friend.

Two years before that we ran into our neighbors from 2 houses away. We didn't even know that they were at WDW.

My family and friends shake their heads in disbelief because I am ALWAYS running into people I know when I travel. :p It's happened to me numerous times at WDW, including in Minnie Mouse's house, in The Land standing in line, in the Emporium on Main Street USA, on the bridge by Splash Mtn., by the train station before Spectromagic, etc. etc. etc.

The most out of the way place where I've run into friends was in a gift shop in Ketchikan, Alaska. My southbound cruise ship was docked at the same time their northbound ship was docked. I was standing in line at the cashier, turned around, and there they were.

The wildest coincidence was a couple years ago, while sitting in the Minneapolis airport waiting for a connecting flight. I heard someone say my name, and there was a guy I worked with. Turns out we were both heading to Lincoln, NE of all places. Even more amazing, we happened to have seat assignments on the plane right next to each other. What are the odds? :scratchin

Keeps things interesting when I travel! :hyper:

I live in England, so I do not expect to run into anyone I know. Well I was standing in the single rider line for TT, my DD was to small to ride it so DH and I had to ride seperatly. As I was standing there the next person to join the queue was a work collegue that I hadn't seen for a year. She had been on maternity leave and I had been working from home etc. She was riding the SR line for the same reason. What are the odds that she would choose to do the same ride as me and they had chosen Epcot for that 1 day only.

One amazing story, and one good one:

1) Several years ago we were at the MK, heading back to the WL on the boat. A guy, his wife and 2 daughters is coming down the aisle and DH says, "I went to school with him!". Now keep in mind they graduated in 1967, the other guy had moved out of state, and he hadn't laid eyes on him for 32 years. So my DH calls his name, the other guy looks around and recognizes my DH too! They had a great time catching up, then we find out they're staying at WL too. DH says, guess you're gonna say you're in the room right next to us? Well, guess what - THEY WERE!! Unfortunately we had plans for the evening and they left early the next morning, but when we got back to our room the next day, we found a bottle of wine with a nice note from them, thanking us for a great story to tell everyone back home!

2) Last year we had met a nice family on the monorail and had spent time talking with them. Several days later we're at Fantasmic before the show, talking to another nice couple next to us. She's telling us about a terrified little boy who had lost his family earlier in the day, and she had helped him find his mom and dad. A short time later, she says "There's the little boy now!" and called his name to say hi again. It was the family we had talked with on the monorail, so we all had a nice talk!

Small world, yet if you WANTED to meet someone down there you'd probably never see them!

to OKW from DQ...rather than walk through DTD, we decided to stick to the parking lot sidewalk to make our way to the Bus Stop...

DH, pointing...
"Hey, honey...look a car ...just like your parents...with NB (Canada) license plates...hey!! It IS your parents!!!"

Surprising us at OKW was their original plan...they just decided to "drive around" WDW until supper:) And there we were!!

:sunny:

My parents had the weirdest thing happen to them while on a trip to Florida.

They were checking in to a small motel in northern Florida for one night before the last leg of their trip. They drive (at the time) a black Lincoln Town car with the license plate GAUDET (our last name). A guy who was checking out asked where they were from as this was his last name too.

My parents said our town's name in New Brunswick Canada and he said he was from another town in New Brunswick and when he said where it was my Mom said "that is where I grew up".

As they all walked out to the cars, the other guy was driving a white Lincoln Town Car (Ontario plates) with the name LEONCE on the plate. My dad then says....THAT'S MY FIRST NAME!!!

Well it was Leonce Gaudet meet Leonce Gaudet. both of which are not common names at all. They grew up 30 minutes away from each other and then my Mom realizes that she had dates this man's brother at one point....

Very weird... My parents still tell people the story 15 years later.

I've seen people I know twice. Once was a couple from my hometown who knows my parents.

The other time was totally freaky. We were running to get somewhere while a parade was going on at night at the MK. I hear my name and I turn around and its **my cousin!!** from New York there with his wife (I'm from Georgia). We live so far away, so we rarely see each other. And to see him THERE was nutso!!

We were down there in January and while we were waiting for Indiana Jones show to start, I got grabbed by somebody. When I finally figured it out, it was a good friend and dressage team-mate from college. We lost each other after the show, but when I got home I found out we were both in another friend's wedding. Crystal managed not to spill the beans, which I would not have been able to do.

She scared the pants off of me but it was fun! I've never run into anyone before this.

Now Keep in mind I am from California....
I used to be a paramedic, and was on vacation, walking through the Magic Kingdom. I heard someone call out my name and turned around, only to find my Paramedic partner standing behind me with his wife. We knew we were both going on vacation, but never really put two and two together and ended up at the same place:rolleyes:
We ended up going to the HDDR together and then had a night out at the Adventurer's Club....Small World huh?
