Running... From Coast to Coast and Back Again - Tink 1/2 TR, Princess TR

Movie Nights!

For last week’s movie night, we watched a movie that I’ve only seen once before and it’s been awhile. So what was it?

Meet The Robinsons!

I really like this movie. I think it has a nice story line and is pretty funny. Plus, I didn’t remember most of it so I think it was extra entertaining because I didn’t know exactly was coming every second of the movie like I do with most Disney movies.

For dinner, we had a Robinson Family Dinner of Spaghetti & Meatballs (sorry no pb&j to go with it):

I can’t remember why but we didn’t finish the movie that night and instead finished after this week’s movie.

This week, we watched one of my all time favorite Disney movies:

The Little Mermaid!

Ariel is my favorite princess and has been since I was a little kid! Of course, that’s mostly because I wanted to be a fish… Either way, I also really love the music and songs in this movie and I think Jodi Benson is just wonderful! For dinner, we had:

Sabastian’s Stuffed Shells:

I loved the movie as usual and was sure to sing along to the part about thingamabobs!

Only one more movie night and then we’ll be on our way to California / Disneyland!

Oh, one more thing...

:cool1::banana::yay:ONE WEEK WIGGLE!:yay::banana::cool1:

Thanks! I love my Mickey plates too! I actually got them for $2.50 with a coupon I had! I always love pasta nights because the food looks cute on them  One time, DF put the spghetti on the plate and the bread in the ears and then proceeded to cut the meatball in half and arrange them into Mickey's face for me :hug: It was really cute!

Little Mermaid is one of my favorites and I hadn't seen it in a while either so it was fun to watch again. And the songs are indeed AMAZING! I had Under The Sea stuck in my head for days!

Welp, we've finally made it to the week leading up to the race. I. Can't. Believe. It. We registered for the race 7 months ago. And now, it's here. Well, almost. The fall semester for Grad School started back up Monday night. So far, so good. I had class again last night and tonight. That's in addition to still working full time. I go to work starting at 9am until an hour before class (5 on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 on Tuesdays) and then class for two hours and forty minutes. I typically get home around 9 (8 on Tuesdays). So needless to say, packing for this weekend has been non-existant. I finished up laundry and packing most stuff last night and I'll finish up tonight after class before we leave Tomorrow afternoon. I just hope I don't forget something.

We had our movie night early this week because of my school schedule; we had it on Sunday. This week, we watched Ratatouille. I think this movie is cute, I wouldn't say it's one of my absolute favorites but still good. For dinner we had Linguini's Bacon-Tomato Rigatoni (I was going to make it with linguini but we were out). Here it is:

This is one of DF's favorite meals so I had to fit it in.

Finally, I wanted to share my race costume with all of you. When we ran the WDW half, I stuck with simple. I ironed on white polka dots to my red shorts and wore it with a black t-shirt and a red & white polka dot bow. Here was my finished look:

It was cute and I got a couple of compliments on it but after seeing all the awesome costumes people had, I knew at my next race, I needed to step it up.

For the ESPN 5k, you were suppose to do a sports theme. Since they had you vote on your favorite college team when registering, we stuck with that. We of course chose Ohio State. We had a friend of ours screen print shirts for us and then we decked ourselves out in OSU apparel and I even made a Tutu. Here's we are:

Finally, for the Expedition Everest Challenge, since we were running through Animal Kingdom, I knew I definitely wanted to do an animal theme. I ordered a zebra print running skirt and then ironed on a zebra print Mickey head to a black tank top for this finished look:

For this race, since we would be running in the Disneyland Half Marathon, I wanted to go back to the classics. So, I've decided to spruce up my Minnie costume a bit.

For a top, I've decided to stick with the plain black top but I've switched to a tank top opposed to a t-shirt to counter the CA heat. Then for bottoms, I'll be wearing black spandex with this over top:

To finish the look, I knew I needed some ears... but, I didn't want to wear a headband because I knew that would drive me crazy. So instead, I ordered these clip-on ears from etsy:

I can just throw my hair in a pony tail then they slide on using Alligator clips. I think they turned out really cute. I did a practice training run in the outfit and other than DF thinking I was crazy, everything turned out well and was comfortable.

Well, I think that's it... except, one more thing...

:cool1::banana::yay:ONE DAY WIGGLE!!!:yay::banana::cool1:

Good luck! I can't wait to hear all about it! And I love the outfit! Those ears are adorable!

LOVE the new outfit, you always come up with cute racing costumes :thumbsup2

I love the clips with the ears!! that is too cute!

It's finally time! We're sitting at the airport waiting for our flight! We' ll be in California by 8:30pm PST!!! Talk to you all when we get back! :goodvibes

Thinking of you and can't wait to hear how it goes. :yay:

Hope that you have a safe and amazing trip and race!! :goodvibes

Have a great trip and a rocking race!

Thinking of you and can't wait to hear how it goes. :yay:

Hope that your race went great today!!

Thanks all! We had an awesome time and I can't wait to share it all with you! We arrived home around 6:30pm EST on Monday and it was right back to the normal life routine. I work all day yesterday then our teacher decided it was okay to keep us late last night so I didn't get home until 10:00pm. Then I stayed up till midnight working on the ridiculous amounts of homework I already have and am still not finished with. I'm hoping once I get through tonight's class, I'll have a little more time and be able to start my TR! Hope you all stick around to hear how it went!

Waiting patiently. popcorn::

Thank You! I'm glad I have a reader! I've wrote updates for the first two days on the trip, I'm just waiting for all the pictures to come together! Hopefully, I'll get them posted tomorrow. I also have a section wrote for my Wine & Dine Half Marathon which I leave for in 10 days

Well, despite the fact that I haven't even started a PTR, I wanted to point out that today was my

Online Check-In Cha Cha Day!!! :cool1::banana::yay::dance3::yay::banana::cool1:

for my wine & dine half marathon trip!

Ok, seeing as my next trip (for another half marathon) is a mere 10 days away, I feel like it’s time to start another PTR section of this thread. But, don’t worry; I’ve already started typing up my Disneyland TR too. I’m just waiting until all my pictures are uploaded. Ok, for my next trip I’ll be heading back to Disney World but for the first time, with a slightly different cast.

Of course, I’m still here. And, I’m assuming most of you know who I am by now but here’s a pic (also a little preview of my upcoming TR):

That's my DF, on the right, but he won't be joining me for this trip. It'll be my first time running a half without him.

Next, we have my two absolute best friends in the whole world. First, is Alison. Ali was my college roommate for all four years and she’s the best friend I’ve ever had. We did everything together in college. Upon graduation, Ali moved to New York City. I unfortunately don’t have the opportunity to see her very often but when we get together, it’s like we never stopped living in a dorm room together. In NYC, she works in the PR department of a media company. She’s only been to Disney once when she was little and can’t really remember much. That being said, I can’t say she’s overly looking forward to the parks either. It’s just not really her thing I guess. When I asked what she wanted to do during our trip, her only response was: food & wine festival and pool time. Here she is:

Ali is on the left obviously. This pic was taken our senior year of college.

The third member of the party is my other best friend, Lauren. Lauren is probably the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life. She’s completely selfless and would do anything for anybody. She was a grade ahead of Ali and I in college but we did have the opportunity to all live together my junior year, Lauren’s senior year. After graduation, Lauren stayed in the Pittsburgh area and attended graduate school to get her Master’s in Special Education. She just finished the program and is in the process of looking for a job. Lauren is much more of a Disney fan than Ali and she also a very “go with the flow” type of person. She’s been to Disney a couple of times and when asked what she wanted to do this trip, she chose: Animal Kingdom and ‘anything anyone else wanted to do”. Here she is:

She's on the left. This pic was also taken during our senior year of college.

Oh, and one more person. My mom will be joining the trip for a short period. I’ll explain this more later. I’m also assuming most of you are familiar with my mom from previous trips so without further introduction, here she is:
164458_526945525469_68801064_30985679_3873259_n.jpg

On the left again.

Armed with this, and my own preference, I set out to make a plan. But, first, the logistics.

Date: September 30 – October 2nd/3rd, 2011 (more on this later)

Place: Walt Disney World, All-Star Music resort
We wanted to find the cheapest option that was still a “host resort” for the race. Since Pop Century wasn’t an option, I decided to try All-Star Music since it’s the only All-Star resort I haven’t stayed at yet. We only have a standard room so I’m hoping to be in either the Jazz Inn or Broadway Hotel section.

Why: The main reason behind this trip, is to run the Wine & Dine half marathon. This will be my third half, and both of my friend’s first half. I’m terrified. This will be my first time running without DF, whom is a great support system during training and the actual race so I’m sure it’ll be weird without him. In addition, while Laruen has done very well on her training, I’m pretty sure Alison has done close to none. I know she’s done two or three 6 mile runs but I think she’s skipped most of her Tuesday/Thursday runs and the last training run I know that she completed was several weeks ago. She says her goal is just to finish but I know it’ll be a struggle. The three of us have already come to an understanding that, should we get close to being swept, Lauren and I will be leaving her. I hate to do that but there’s no way I’m not getting my medal. I just hope that it doesn’t come to that. I don't mind walking, but I want my medal so we have to finish!

Overall, I’m really excited for this trip and can’t wait to see my friends but, it’s been a struggle. Planning has been difficult and I’m worried about the stress of the race since none of us have ever run together and I have a feeling, we all have different paces and expectations. I’m going in with the goal of just having fun, taking pictures, and enjoying the atmosphere but I worry about having to split up and how upset I’ll be if we don’t make it in time to get our medal.

I hope you all stay tuned for what’s sure to be a very interesting trip!

I can't wait to hear about the DL Half! And, by the way, your costume looks adorable!!!:thumbsup2 You always come up with the cutest ideas for race outfits. I'll be coming to you next spring when I'm looking for ideas for the next EE 5K:laughing:
I think it's cool that you're doing the Wine and Dine Half with your friends. It's always nice to experience something you love with new people and spread the magic. Plus, 3 friends in Disney sounds like there'll be great times ahead. :thumbsup2

Not just "a" reader, you probably have thousands of readers!! One question I have, that perhaps you can answer is in regards to your training. You seem very busy. How do you find time to train for a half and how do you do it? Do you walk/run or run straight through? Do the cute outfits you wear ever get in the way of your performance(i.e., scratchy, too loose/tight, etc.)? Can't wait to hear more!!! popcorn:::banana:

YAY I cannot wait to hear about the Disneyland race, its so exciting to see pictures from Disneyland since I have never been there and want to go so badly!! :goodvibes

I hope you have a GREAT time at the wine and dine half, I did that one last year as my first half marathon and it was so much fun running at night time...I really enjoyed it. I have to tell you that whenever my friends and I run races together we try to stay together for the first mile, but make no promises after that. I just feel like when you spend that much money, train, etc you want to enjoy yourself yes, but you also don't want to finish upset with yourself for not doing your best :goodvibes

on a side note I just signed up for the WDW FULL marathon yesterday thats in january and you should do it!!!! :cool1:
