Running for my Disney - Now a PTR!

Oooh! Lots of progress,

Congrats on locking in so much more! You can't have very much left to plan for this trip.

Have fun in Asia. Hope to catch up when you get back. :cool1:

Most of the big stuff is locked in now, but still need accommodation in Palm Desert, plus the rest of our flights, hire car, plus tickets/bookings for all our extra activities. And then there's the joy of choosing and booking dining locations :thumbsup2 Plus our little stopover in Sri Lanka. I think I'll be kept busy for the next few months :rotfl:

That cabin looks great. :thumbsup2

Congrats for getting so much sorted and best wishes for your upcoming trip. I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

My family and I will be hiring a Standard size SUV for our road trip as our luggage (anything up to 6 medium suitcases, carry-on bags, and a cooler box to carry our food) just won't fit in anything much smaller.

However, with the smaller amount of luggage you have, you might want to consider something like a Camry. Cheaper than an SUV and your luggage is hidden from prying eyes when making day stops at places like Universal. Just a thought.

Have fun in Asia.

Hmm good point about the luggage. We would be making plenty of stops with the luggage in the car, so definitely worth thinking about. I wasn't sure a sedan style car would fit everything in though? On the suitcase guides on the car hire websites they generally say a max of 3 medium suitcases for sedans. Maybe I should ask Mum to see how many suitcases they can fit into their Falcon :rotfl:

Our last 2 trips we have hired a Ford Taurus, very nice comfortable car with leather interior, with large boot which kept all our belongings out of sight on our long road trip. Think it is in the premium large car category.

Oooh thanks for your input - it sounds great :thumbsup2 How many suitcases did you fit in?

I drive a Windom/Lexus that has a similar trunk size to a Camry. With a little bit of careful maneuvering you can fit four cases in one of those boots and a few smaller bags.
If all four of you have hard shell or odd-shaped cases it might be more of a gamble, but otherwise I think you'd be okay with a large car.

That's great to hear! None of us have hard shell cases, and all are definitely on the smaller side for international holiday of several weeks, so it sounds like we'll be better off with a sedan :thumbsup2

I'll be a bit quiet for the next couple of weeks, as we leave for our Asia trip on Friday, then I've got my surgery as soon as we get back :scared1:

I noticed earlier today that your counter was down to just *four* days! You must be excited, have a great time :) and don't even think about the surgery, just enjoy the break :)

Yep, it's getting close now :cool1: I don't think I'll have time to think about the surgery while we're away... except maybe on the overnight train between Singy and KL :rolleyes2 We've got a pretty action packed itinerary :thumbsup2

In case I don't get a chance again, have a fantastic trip to Asia. Looking forward to hearing all about it!

We had 2 hard shell cases, 4 large duffle bags, 4 daypacks and a chilly bin. On the specs this type of car had the largest luggage capacity.

We have an SUV at home, and a Falcon. The Taurus had considerably more luggage capacity than either of these 2 ( we needed 2 cars to get back from the airport at home!)

Thanks :goodvibes Is that a request for a TR?

Great thanks! That's really helpful :thumbsup2

I feel like my poor old PTR has been a bit forgotten recently. There's really not much to add at the moment. The bank balance needs a bit of recovery time after our anniversary trip! So for now, I just have leg updates.

I had my surgery as planned, and am currently recovering quietly at home. I'm feeling a little bit nervous about whether it has worked or not, particularly because I really haven't been in much pain, and am already able to get around quite well with crutches, and even without for a few steps. I have to be really careful not to overdo it!

I won't go into too much detail here and bore everyone, but if you are interested in all the details, I have started a blog about my experience.

Good for you! That blog will probably help a few people looking for information. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear you are doing OK and great, not in too much pain-but yes don't overdo it just because you feel good! Many years ago after my Caesar I was feeling great and shifting rocks making a new fish pond then wondered why I was getting pains in my abdomen?!!

My biggest fear is overdoing it because I have no pain to stop me, and jeopardising my recovery  I'm being really really careful! I can't afford to take any extra time to recover, or I won't be able to start training in time :rolleyes2
