Hope you have a fun run tomorrow in that 10K! Try to stay dry!!! Looks liek there may be some rain in the forecast???

Stacie

Good Morning Scott,
WOW! You are doing awesome- good luck tomorrow. You are doing a 10k and I am thinking about my coconut custard pie I can't wait for- OOPS!
Have a great day tomorrow,
Linda

Hey Scott,

I am just dropping by to wish you luck in your race tomorrow. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Happy Thanksgiving,
Beth

HAPPY THANKSGIVING SCOTT!!!

I hope you have a great day with your family. I know you kicked butt in that race ;). You rock buddy!

Thank you for the well wishes on the race today!! I think it worked!!

I ran the Gobble Jog 10k here just outside of Atlanta. I woke up at 6am to my alarm, followed immediately by a huge crash of lightning and a loud boom of thunder  It continued to pour down rain as I got ready, drove to the race and while I sat in the car. But magically, about 10 minutes before the start...the rain completely subsided and stayed away for the entire race!!

I was very happy to have ran a personal best of 49:32!! That's a 7:58mpm and is something that I didn't really think I could accomplish. Normally I don't like to post times and stuff on here, but this is one that I'm proud of :goodvibes:

Not only was it a PR, but it qualified me for the major events down here (Peachtree 10k and US Classic 10k) in the highest non-elite group available :)

There were some things that I didn't like about the race, but I'll share that stuff later...just happy with my time right now!!

I hope EVERYONE has a very safe and happy Thanksgiving today! Thank you for all of the support you've given me over the years. It means a lot.

Now go eat some turkey!!

GO SCOTT!!! AWESOME TIME in yesterday's race!!! You should be proud of yourself, you have come so far!!! You are so going to rock the Goofy in January!!

That is so cool that you qualified for a higher seeded group in those other races, that is pretty neat.

i hope you had some time to relax and enjoy the holiday yesterday!

Have an awesome weekend!

GREAT EFFORT Scott!!! :thumbsup2 BUT...Now I have to try to shoot for 7's. Geeze...I'm finally getting into the 8's and you set a new bar. OK..just kidding. I'm really really proud of you!! That pace kicks some serious butt!!! :cool1: <----butt kicking smiley.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family. :goodvibes Pretty soon and you'll be hangin' with the Kenyans. Speedy McFirstSeed ;)

Wow Scott!

You ROCKED that race! Congratulations on joining the top seeded nonelites. You should be strutting right now. We want details and pics of the bling.

How was your long run today?

Take care and Congrats again.

Beth

Thanks everyone.

The long run was a bit tougher today due to a couple of things:

  • I ran pretty hard Thursday morning, did XT and Pilates on Friday, briskly walked 7 miles and did Pilates on Saturday....probably not a good mix if I was looking for an "easy" 14 miler
  • TMI ALERT!! Let's just say that I put band-aids on my nips before the longer runs to prevent bleeding...and let's just say that somewhere prior to mile 6, one of the band-aids fell off. Not only did it hurt like heck during the run, but the shower afterwards totally stunk too!
  • The 50% chance of showers turned into 100% chance of downpour around mile 11. I suddenly found myself completely soaked, a bit chilly and questioning why the heck I was out there.

The good thing is that I recovered remarkably well :) I didn't feel like crashing afterwards (like I often do), and my legs have felt pretty good all night.

I'm looking forward to this step back week for sure. I'm particularly excited about my Thursday and Sunday runs as I will be traveling again....and I love the change of scenery....even though it'll be colder for sure, I can't wait to get out there and enjoy them.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

:scared1: :scared1: Poor Scott!

Never really thought of that issue with running. Make sense though. Hope you make a full recovery. I'm glad you managed to dry out.

Take care on your travels.
Beth

Ah, Scott! Sorry about the um.. .chaffing issue!

I like the change of scenery too! Can't wait to hear how they go!

Hope you have a great week of training!
Stacie

Awesome job on the runs! So sorry about the chafing issue - that sounds HORRIBLY painful! I hope it heals up soon and you don't have to deal with it anymore.

I am sure you are looking forward to doing your two upcoming runs in new places - just be careful not to overdo it. We don't want you having any nasty injuries when you are so close to the Goofy (which you will TOTALLY rock, by the way, in case you aren't convinced yet).

Hope you have a great evening!:goodvibes

Susan

Hi Scotty

How are you feeling? I have made a pretty full recovery from the long run this past weekend!! Bring on 16!!!! :cool1: <----that's us kicking the 16 miler in the butt.

What's new in the world of McSpeedy?? Hmmmm....:confused3

Awesome job there Scott- I am totally impressed. Congrats on qualifiying too. I am so psyched to hear how you guys do in the Goofy because the whole thing is beyond my comprehension-marathon and a 1/2- OUCH!

Lovin' my sports bra right now- who knew???????

Have a good one,
Linda

Thanks everyone :goodvibes:

The long run recovery went well and I took Monday off to rest up (ok, well I did do pilates...according to my teammate, that counts as a rest day...:confused3 ).

Yesterday I accomplished a few things. I found some really neat Christmas presents which took care of some gifts that were stressing me out a bit. I also bought a shiny new pair of Asics 2130's :) They are the coolest, most comfortable shoe ever and I love them so   They are only available in specialty running stores right now and will make their way to the regular establishments in January. I really needed a good second pair because I'll need to take two pair down to WDW, one for each race (in case of rain or if they just get too sweaty). So I can cross that off of my list too :)

And I did manage to throw a run in, along with 25 minutes of pilates. I ran at the FC on the treadmill. I was supposed to do 6, but I opted for 4 solid miles as this is a recovery week and I ran pretty hard last week. I'm looking forward to getting out there on Thursday and running in the chilly Northeastern US....should make for an interesting long run on Sunday as well...can you guys please hold off the snow until I'm finished running? Thanks!

Other than that it's business as usual in my world. I did receive my numbers for the half and full last Saturday too. It was exciting to get the packet, but kind of disappointing to see that the booklet is essentially the same as last year's....just a lot of instructions and logistics....I really think they need to spice it up a bit...it IS Disney after all...and we DID pay appx $100 per race...give us some stories or something in there too please.

So that's it for my Wednesday update. I'll be doing 30 on the elliptical tonight, running 6 chilly Northeastern miles tomorrow, finding a way to workout on Friday, run walking at least 4 on Saturday and capping it off with another chilly 8 miler on Sunday before returning home on Monday night. I should have time to check in while I'm away ;)

Have a great day!

McSpeedy!!!

WOW Scott. You have major plan this week! Yipee on the new shoes and receiving your packet! That's exciting!

Hope you have a nice recovery week and can avoid the snow!! :goodvibes Have a great trip!!!

Happy training!
Stacie

Ahhh...chilly runs. Welcome to my world! Yeah...hope the snow holds off. Makes running messy and miserable!!!!

Great job with the workouts. You are doing fantastic with the pilates! I'm so impressed! :thumbsup2

Hope you have a nice trip! Remember to bring your warm running clothes so you don't get  .
