Running Down a Dream 2: It's All About the Swag

Speedy McSandwich :goodvibes ... Have I meantioned that I really like that quote in your avatar??? Quite inspiring!

Hi Scott, just checking in before i am off to WDW.. Hope all is going well!

Whassup Dawg? OK...sorry...not sure why I just did that. Must be the stomach bug affecting my brain. I'm dellusional. And that's why they call me loco! ;)

Chapter 23: Amy
The runs ain't fun. Particularly those runs runs. If ya' know where I'm coming from. And where I come from...that ain't cool. But it sure is cold outside. Another day lost in lazy town. And that's a creepy children's show. I just don't get it. Just me and Dr. Immodium. Ya' still there doc?

Chapter 24: Scott
So after reading Chapter 23 I look at T-Dawg...the Turn Around Hound...and I say..."boy..she's lost it dawg". But then I realize that T-Dawg is just a dog...named Turner....not Turn ARound Hound...and I'm just reading some ramblings from a crazy woman. And this is supposed to be about running. Where did I go wrong. *places head in hands*.

You guys are too much!! :rotfl2:

Scott--I hope you are having a great week of training!! Good luck with your LR this weekend!

Thanks everyone!

Pretty normal, solid training week so far for me. I did Pilates on Monday night, ran 6.2 miles on Tuesday night, did Pilates and 40 min on the elliptical Wednesday night...and did 5 miles on the treadmill along with more Pilates last night.

I must say that I'm lovin' the Pilates workouts. It's so challenging for your core and MUCH more fun than sitting there busting out crunch after crunch after crunch. It's an addition to my normal routine that I think I'll keep around for the forseeable future.

I've got a pull back 8 mile long run this weekend and then I need to revisit next weeks schedule...I want to both run a PR during the Thanksgiving morning 10k AND successfully complete 14 miles the following Sunday....may have to modify some stuff early on in the week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Scott! Hope all is well in your "neck of the woods!"

Yeah, next week sounds a bit much, but that's just me! lol! I'm sure no matter what you do, you do great!

Wishing you well for your LR this weekend!!!

Have a happy weekend!
Stacie

Hey there Scott,

Sounds like a full week of training ahead for you. I would probably cut back on some of my early week stuff to concentrate on the 10k and LR on the weekend...but that is just my two cents.

Hope the 8 miler goes well this weekend!

Drive by Saturday training update:

Did 20 miles on the bike (17mph)
Ate a quick lunch
Did 30 minutes of "Core Challenge" Pilates
Went for a brisk 4 mile walk (13:43 mpm)
Ate dinner

Now i'm resting for a bit before tackling 25 more minutes of Pilates.

hope the weekend is going good for everyone!

Good lord! Do you ever rest and chill out???

Hope you have a nice evening!
Stacie

:faint: Goodness Gracious. I'm with Stacie....do you EVER rest there Speedy McBikerlates??? You're actually starting to put me to shame with the pilates. I'm teaching so much now that I'm only really "taking" two hours per week. Don't get me wrong...I demo so much in class that I probably equal at least 3 more classes. But you're showing me up there boy! ;)

Good luck on your pull back 8 Miler tomorrow. I just know you're going to smoke it. Easy peasy runnin' breezy!

Hey there Scott--WOW!! You never cease to amaze me with your training! If I even attempted to do as much training as you, I would probably hurt myself somehow! Although, someday if I keep training hard, I can get to that point.

Keep up the good work!! (But, make sure to get some rest in there at some point as well!!)

wow.

I go away for a week or so, and you've completed like 500 miles and 3 million hours of cross training. (I'm not making jokes here, you're simply amazing)

Take care, running man. Stay fueled. :thumbsup2

Back to your running music question....I personally love The Killers. Great, great music. Not too fast and not too slow. But my kick-it-in-gear song is "Don't Stop (Thinkin About Tomorrow)" by Fleetwood Mac. That one gets me every time.

Question for you - are you doing a pilates DVD or are you going to a class? If you're doing a DVD, please let me know the name. I'd really like to start doing some pilates at home. (I know I've asked Amy before, so shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell her I've forgotten what she said  )

Thanks everyone!!

I'm just trying to keep up with Amy!! Haven't quite mastered the 2 hours of Pilates + 4-6 mile run all in one day yet....or was that 3 hours and 8 miles? Or maybe ski machine, pilates and a walk? Ugh...too much :rotfl:

And Kim, as for the Pilates...i'm switching back and forth between two DVD's right now (thanks Netflix!). I'll be taking a real class here in a week or so but for now I'm learning the ropes and I think I'm doing pretty good (DVD instructors don't really talk back too much). I HIGHLY recommend "Pilates for Dummies" for a great intro to the basic routine and a pretty good intermediate workout (maybe Amy can chime in here with a professional opinion)...it's based on the Power Pilates technique. The other one I'm doing is a Core Challenge workout by Stott...it's cool because there is a dude doing it along with a girl :) The workout is a lot more intense than either one on the dummies video...I've found a mix between the two is my best bet right now :)

Warning: Pilates when done correctly is a really tough workout!!

Anyway...I got out there for an 8 mile run today. That capped off a 32 mile weekend :goodvibes: (20 bike, 4 walk, 8 run).

Now I'm focused on the Gobble Jog 10k this Thursday morning...gonna set my week's training up accordingly: rest day on Monday...4 mile run + pilates Tuesday...rest or 30 min elliptical + pilates Wednesday....10k race on Thursday + Pilates....possible rest day on Friday....7 mile walk + Pilates on Saturday....14 mile run on Sunday :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

:worship: Amazing weekend again Scott. Forget it...I can't keep up with you. Honest!

I'm so proud of you for doing Pilates! And you got a Stott DVD :). Good job...I do recommend them. And from what I've heard the Pilates for Dummies is really awesome! Great job with that. It's good for you...especially for YOU with your back history :).

Have a great week. I know you'll PR in that Gobble Jog race on Thursday. I can't wait to hear all about it!!!!

Let me re-iterate (sp???) Good lord! Do you ever rest and just chill out? or is that not allowed in Goofy training??? :goodvibes

Hope all goes well this week! Do try to get some rest!!!

Stacie

You guys continue to amaze me. :thumbsup2 You are doing a great job with your training, Scott. :goodvibes Sending some :wizard: for the Gobble Jog....You'll do a great job!:thumbsup2

You just don't ever stop, do you? I am so in awe of your discipline and how MUCH training you get accomplished around work and the rest of life's demands. Hope things go VERY WELL for the Turkey Trot - I'm sure they will. Keep on keeping on, my man - you are AWESOME!!:thumbsup2

Susan

Hey Scott--another great weekend of training for you. Looks like you have a great plan for the week ahead! Good Luck with the race on Thursday, I think you will do awesome.

All this talk of Pilates really has me wanting to try it. I just saw a video on Pilates for kids at a conference I was at....and I was thinking..geez..if I am ever going to teach this to my students, I need to learn how to do it myself....so...maybe I will have to track down those videos you mentioned.

Have a great week!

Hi Scott,

I love the nicknames. You are amazing. I know that the real reason you post is that you have a herem dropping by to tell you how incredible you are.;) :lmao: Just kidding.

Stacie is right, you never stop. Thanks for the pilates recommendation. I may pick up those videos.

Have a great Turkey Trot.

Take care,
Beth
