Happy Friday!
Thanks a LOT for the posts!! Been a little preoccupied with things so I haven't been around here as often as normal...I'll do better with that
First...answers to some questions...
How often should someone increase their distance?
Linda
Well, the rule of thumb here is to never increase more than 10% each week. I personally feel the best way to accomplish this is by building a base for yourself first. A base can be any amount of mileage...something you feel comfortable with doing every single week regardless of races or special training. Once you've built that base (meaning, you've ran that base distance 4-6 weeks in a row), you can then increase by 10% (example...if your base is 10 miles, you can add one and do 11). The most important thing is to make sure your body can handle any increase in distance, and be sure to back off if you feel any aches or pains. Hope this answered your question
Are yu starting to look toward your long run on Sunday, or is it just a day at a time?
Beth
I have to admit that the Sunday long runs are my favorite runs week in and week out. I love getting out there early, zoning out and just running. As I've said before, it's therapy for me...just me, my music and the occasional rabbits and deer crossing the path in front of me. I NEVER thought I'd say something like that, but it's come to define the "new me" that I've created over the past year and a half.
What up for this weekend?
Stacie
Saturday I plan on doing a 5 mile walk/run. Sunday I'll be out there doing a 10 mile LR, which will be the last LR before the half marathon. Other than that, it's just putting together the final preparations for my trip to Cali (CAN'T WAIT!!).

This week has been just a normal week for me. I took Monday off, ran 6.6 miles on Tuesday, did 30 minutes on the elliptical on Wednesday and ran 4 miles yesterday. Tonight I'll do another 30 on the elliptical before settling down with some food and water, ready to watch the Thrasher's season opener
