Running Down a Dream 2: It's All About the Swag

Hmmm....guess you prefer gold gown Belle ;). J/K buddy!

Amazing Race! Sure...I think you invited me to be your team mate on another thread! OK...I'm in....let's make our video during the marathon  . So will we be the team that always fights, the team that is sneaky and mean and everybody hates (think: Donatos) or the friendly team that flies under the radar and kicks butt! I like option 3! Think we could convince the families to let us disappear to travel the world for weeks on end. ROFL! :rotfl:

Hey Scott,

WOW! I am so impressed with your journey. The more I learn about you, the bigger inspiration you are! Way to go on the weight loss, that is AWESOME!!!

I was reading your one post about how last year it was all unknown and this year you know what lies ahead. That is totally how I feel right now, the months ahead are such an unknown for me. Part of me is scared and part of me is so excited! It is nice to know that you guys are here and have been through this all before!!

Keep up the great work!!

Hello!

Laurie - It's so exciting to see you going through the training for the 1st time...we are all rooting for you! Just be prepared for Nov/Dec...those long ones tend to take their toll :scared:

Amy - Hmmmm....I think we'd fit in as the friendly to your face, stab you behind your back kind of team :rotfl: I'll bring the video camera to Florida ;)

Thanks everyone for the support and good times here :goodvibes:

Last night I did the forward/reverse elliptical deal for 30 minutes. I really missed the biking last weekend so I decided to go for a ride this morning. I ended up covering 16.8 miles on the Silver Comet Trail....then came home and completed my 4 mile walk/run....I guess I should have jumped in a pool and completed my own little triathalon :rotfl:

Gonna rest up tonight and then get out there for my 8 mile long run tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Totally wouldn't have surprised me.

YOU DA MAN. :woohoo:

Good luck on your 8 miler tomorrow.

:thumbsup2 SUPER job this weekend buddy. And my super ESP tells me you had an awesome run today as well :goodvibes .

You are amazing! Doing all that exercise the day before a Long Run. Slightly crazy...but wayyyy impressive! Great effort.

Hi Scott,

I'm glad to know some of the back story. (no pun intended) It just emphasizes what an amazing individual you are. :cool1: Thank you for sharing your story with us.

You are going to rock that 1/2 marathon. (OK that one was intended. insert groan.) I can't wait to see a picture of your new swag.

Keep up the great goofy work.
Beth

Hi everyone

LOL...Yeah, I can definitely post a photo of the 1/2 marathon swag 'cause I just need to finish it to get the medal :) (did I ever mention that I was #906 in the official results of the US10K...top 1000 get medals....I didn't get one?....did I miss something? LOL)

I completed my weekend calorie burn-fest today with a well paced 8 mile long run. Thankfully the previous day's workouts didn't have any negative effects on the run...that along with the fact that it was about 64 degrees and partly cloudy...all added up to a nice time out there on the trail.

All in all this week, I put in 18.6 running miles, 4 walk/run miles, 16.8 biking miles and completed 2 30 minute 'reverse mode' elliptical workouts. Gotta say I'm pretty happy with all of that :)

This upcoming week should be a repeat performance...with the long bike ride possibly eliminated.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

GREAT week, Scott! :woohoo:

OK...fill me in...what is the thingy at the bottom of yours and Amy's signatures? :confused3

Kim....It's a coaster count!! Coasterfanatics.com...you go there and enter in all of the coasters you have ridden...then you can put that cool thing in your siggie. Click on the banner and it'll take you to the ones that we have ridden...

NOT that Amy and I are competitive in that too or anything...:rolleyes1 (gonna have to plan a weekend trip to a park now since we are tied!!)

oooooooooooooh, I might have to jump in on that one...I just raised my count SIGNIFICANTLY yesterday! :woohoo:

ETA: OK, I did it. I had NO idea I've ridden that many!!

Oh, and Amy - you need to get to Great Adventure....El Toro and Kingda Ka are calling your name! (they are AMAZING!)

Oh, and Amy - you need to get to Great Adventure....El Toro and Kingda Ka are calling your name! (they are AMAZING!)

Oh, and Amy - no you don't, cause then you too will be ahead of me!! :)

Anyway....

So yesterday, I decided to skip all workouts and research all unridden roller coasters within a 120 mile radius....just kidding...(kind of)....:rotfl:

Let's try this again...

So yesterday, I ran my very hilly, up and down neighborhood coaster-like route (does that count as a credit?? Can't find it in the database...). I did 6.6 miles and aside from a nasty side stitch for a few minutes, it was a real nice run. My how the cooler temps make such a HUGE difference! I wasn't a completely sweaty mess afterwards, and didn't feel worn down at all. Maybe it's time to move...somewhere where it's 66 degrees all year round...and that has a bunch of roller coasters nearby. :goodvibes

Anyway...thanks all for posting, I appreciate it as always!

Oh yeah....Evil Dick :woohoo: !! At least the whiny self centered Dani didn't walk home with the half million....now it's on to Survivor on Thursday :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

You are too funny with the coasters. Honestly, come to NJ. We'll meet up with Amy and all go on Kingda Ka together. And El Toro, I swear - no other wooden roller coaster can compare. (check them out on Utube)

I agree with you on the cooler temps and running. GREAT run and you're really kickin' butt on the Goofy training. I so look forward to the race trip report (please please please) :thumbsup2

Um...I have a Six Flags season pass which means I can get into any Six Flags park in the country with it for free....which also means that I'm game for a trip to wild and wonderful NJ....when does the park close for the year??

Last night I got my elliptical workout in and tonight I went out there and ran 5.6 miles (I'm not one to be exact on the .6 stuff, it just happens to work out that way). I know that my training only called for 4, but the extra time with the therapist helps sometimes, ya' know? ;)

I have to say that I'm in the workout kind of mood, but I have to keep it smart this weekend. Hopefully I can get some combination of bike ride, elliptical, walk/run and long run in over the next three days without totally wiping myself out. I need to be in good shape for that half marathon...and yes, there *may* be a trip report (will just have to change names and places to protect the innocent).

Have a great night everyone!! (off to go blog or something...)

Stay smart uber-athlete...I know you are a machine. But even machines can't run 24/7. Don't wipe yourself out!

By the way...You have shamed me into adding more cardio...when I look at your numbers each week for miles plus cardio I realize that is where I"m lacking and *MAYBE* that is where I can build some speed! WOW...that was an amazing awful run-on sentence. Oh well...too lazy to correct :rotfl: .

Thanks for the constant inspiration. If I wasn't chasing your insane splits all the time (ahhhh.....let's remember the days when we used to run the same speed)....back to the present.....If I wasn't chasing your ridiculous pace all the time I think I'd be bored with the whole running thing. And wow...check out THAT horrible run-on sentence. And once again...too lazy. ;)

Have a great weekend Scotty!!!:goodvibes

WOW, I didn't know their season passes were good for any Six Flags park. Good to know! :thumbsup2 I believe they are open weekends only through October (fright fest or something like that).

I agree with Amy. Don't go overboard, my friend. I'm sure you CAN do more, especially if you're in that mood, but you probably SHOULDN'T do much more than you are, right? :confused3

Have a great weekend, superman. :goodvibes

Hello...

Just a training update...

Last night I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and weighed in at 188.75.

Logged 20.8 miles today. Did 16.8 of them on the bike, and the other 4 came from the walk/run.

Tomorrow I'll be out there bright and early for an 8 mile run.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Wow Scott,

You are a machine. Just be sure to listen to your body. It may occasionally need rest.

Have a great one,
Beth
