Run Now! It’s Wine 0’Clock in WDW…Cupcakes Gone W&D16

Oh, Killian Jones. I hated him so much back in the day, but ... he's grown on me. I love him now.
I still miss Neal, though. He was my favorite of Emma's love interests.

Okay, drinking time ...
Australia: Hmm ... I think maybe I'll try Bulletin Place Unoaked Chardonnay ... because who doesn't love a good Chardonnay?
Ireland: I'm going to need some energy by this point, so I think I'll go with the coffee ... Chilled Irish Coffee featuring Bunratty Potcheen (and yes, I know that the alcohol kinda cancels out the energy from the coffee)
New Zealand: Brancott Estate® Flight Song™ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc ... because apparently I only drink white wine (not far from the truth ... I actually really love white wine)
Scotland: Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch flight (12-, 15- and 18-year) ... my brother is a huge Scotch fan, so I think I'd go Scotch in his honor.

:confused3:confused3I am way too far behind to comment on everything. I forget about disBoards for months. Lol!

My mom and I are coming!! Woohoo! We are trying very hard to frugal so we're staying at Pop! November 4-9. (I may possibly extend our trip until the 11th as my agency is hosting an AEP those 2 days.)

We are both doing Lumiere's Challenge and so far I've only made us 1 ADR at Minnie's Seasonal Dinner. I'm not sure where else we will end up.

I am so pumped about this trip with my mom and reuniting with the cupcakes! My only other big plans for this trip are seeing the opening show at MK, MVMCP, and Eat to the Beat of someone good is playing. :)

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: Canada
Pre Planning Our Eat & Drink Around the World Crawl

(or by the end of the night teetering and rolling around the world)

Trying to find ways to pass the next 153 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running). Since the menus for F&W are not available for 2016 until the midSpring and we have pretty much covered favorite dining experiences and foods from around WDW…let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl Around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks…

CANPAV_1_998.jpg

Oh Canada, you like England get so neglected in our trips around the world since you are usually last on our little jaunt. Not this time…coming in the international gateway you might get a lot more action with us! What is there to say about Canada, for me not much. I find the whole are a little bit of a disappointment. I do love the Martin Short movie and the hidden waterfalls but I am always underwhelmed when I do visit Canada. The flowers though are gorgeous but I am always left with eh, okay. I really liked Off-Kilter and wish they were still playing.

So let’s see if the good does anything for me…

Food & Wine Booth
–Canadian cheddar cheese soup
–Chicken sausage with creamy polenta and Minus 8 onion jam
–“Le Cellier” wild mushroom beef filet mignon with truffle butter sauce

Debra is going to kill me for saying this, but can you see what I am talking about? Totally underwhelmed with the selections available. No food cart (in fact this is the only country in Epcot without a food cart). I have tried all 3 items last time at F&W because I was totally excited about trying out all the yummies from Le Cellier without actually having a reservation. They were “eh.” So if I have to eat something I will go with my personal favorite food main dish…

steak.jpg

What are you having?

I'm eh on the steak there as well and the other two don't meet my fancy either. I'll stick to ice wine

Eh. I gotta say, I'm also not overly impressed with the selections in Canada. Nothing really interests me. This is probably one I'd think about skipping (or just hunting for a small snack somewhere).

I absolutely love Le Cellier, but I am not expecting the Canada kiosk offerings to be remotely close to what I can get for a sit down meal at Le Cellier. With that said, I will still be getting the Canadian cheddar cheese soup & Le Cellier fillet.

I was so excited about the steak, for the same reason of trying it without the reservation, last Wine & Dine and was left disappointed when I tried it. I LOVE steak, but this didn't meet my expectations. Maybe they were too high?

Thrifty First Thursday of the Month
Update on May Earnings/Savings

Thrifty Thursday.jpg

Time to count up the Disney pennies…remember I am trying all the unique ways I can to earn my spending money without taking anything out of my household budget.

Budget Projected $1350
PURCHASED MVMCP Ticket $91
7 Day Park Hopper Ticket $450
7 Day Expenses (Spending/Meals) $800

May Recap

My May earnings were at $105.11!

I purchased my MVMCP ticket this past month with my earnings. I was able to use Debra’s AP to help cut the cost about $5. I still have not completely decided on what kind of park ticket to purchase and for how many days…darn Disney really needs to get schedules and events published for the time that we are there. I have more than enough right now to go ahead and purchase the maximum park ticket I would need for the stay…now all my earnings are going to my favorites…cocktails, cupcakes and yummy Disney food (plus a little for the Run Expo).

I have 5 months to reach the remaining portion of my goal of $800…around $600 more to go! So I am needing to keep my earnings as they are each month, around $100. I have to admit that I am getting a little burned out with my Disney pennies routine of Perks and Swagbucks each day…but to have this trip paid not from my budget for is a MUST.

Swagbucks
Amount Earned for Trip: $450

November $25
December $75
January $100
February $25
March $75
April $75

May $75

A pretty decent/average month for May. I was not able to meet my daily goal every day, thanks for a couple of long weekends without technology.

Walmart Savings Catcher
Amount Earned for Trip: $54.11

Earned $0.86 in May by just scanning my receipt each time. Not much this month, but it was a weird spending month for me.

Shopkicks
Amount Earned for Trip: $50

November to January $25
January to April $25

I earned 2126 kicks in May and I only need 1509 more kicks to reach my next $25 gift card!

PERKtv
Amount Earned for Trip: $25

May $25

I started Perking midApril and within 30 days I had earned enough for a $25 gift card. I have learned/discovered how to earn PERKs, but in doing so threw up a huge flag to PERKs and found myself in a dispute…happy to say I won and I am back earning.

IBotta
Amount Earned for Trip: $47.75

Like I said it was a weird shopping month for me. I only earned $4 from iBotta this month…but that is almost a Mickey Bar so all is good.

Check Out 51
Amount Earned for Trip: $4.50

No earnings this month…not a lot of good rebates out there.

Children’s Exchange Consignment Clothing
Amount Earned for Trip: $104.00

I need to go cash out and drop some more clothes off. Maybe when I have more time this summer!

Pact
Amount Earned for Trip: $35.85

Still counting those calories in MyFitnessPal, getting my steps in with Fitbit each day and logging those fruits/veggies. I earned $12.22 this month with PACT.

Total Amount Earned for Trip: $760.99

You are doing awesome at the savings! May was a horrible month for me due to weird spending, vacations and moving. I'm trying to get back into SB's, but it's annoying me lately. Gotta stick with it though to help pay for W&D since I have to register for both Star Wars races as well this summer.

I know it is not Friday....but I sure wish it was Friday, November 4th!

It’s 5 O’clock Friday
in Canada

ONLY 22 MORE FRIDAYS!

funny2.jpg

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails. Maybe we can find them a little more readily then the cupcake disappointment we experienced on our PHM Cupcake Crawl! Following in line with Whet your Appetite Wednesday, let’s begin to focus on F&W and our Eat & Drink Crawl around the World that we are planning for Sunday after the race (Rules and Logistics to come later).

So the food was eh for me in Canada, thank goodness the drinks are a little more appealing!

Food & Wine Booth
–Moosehead® Lager – $3.75
–Neige Premiere Apple Ice Wine – $6.00
–Inniskillin Vidal Icewine – $6.00
–Tawse Vineyard Cabernet Franc – $6.00

So bartender...

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a Neige Premiere Apple Ice Wine
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere…
And there is so little time!

I am a HUGE fan of Ice Wine so I am going with the Neige Premiere Apple Ice Wine!

For those that are wondering what ice wine is…wine that is made from fruit, in this case apples, that have been harvested AFTER the first hard freeze. This makes the fruit sweeter. I need all the sweetness I can get some days! Here is a promotional video on the making…

What are you having?

I'm eh on the steak there as well and the other two don't meet my fancy either. I'll stick to ice wine

I like your thinking...

OOoooo Canada! I'll take some steak please. That just looks great.

STEAK....

Eh. I gotta say, I'm also not overly impressed with the selections in Canada. Nothing really interests me. This is probably one I'd think about skipping (or just hunting for a small snack somewhere).

You must have a small snack...that is the rules...maybe sneak into the gift shop for a piece of maple candy...

I absolutely love Le Cellier, but I am not expecting the Canada kiosk offerings to be remotely close to what I can get for a sit down meal at Le Cellier. With that said, I will still be getting the Canadian cheddar cheese soup & Le Cellier fillet.

Someday I shall eat at Le Cellier....

I was so excited about the steak, for the same reason of trying it without the reservation, last Wine & Dine and was left disappointed when I tried it. I LOVE steak, but this didn't meet my expectations. Maybe they were too high?

I totally believe in high expectations for steak...

Awesome saving! I should start doing that for January.

You are doing awesome at the savings! May was a horrible month for me due to weird spending, vacations and moving. I'm trying to get back into SB's, but it's annoying me lately. Gotta stick with it though to help pay for W&D since I have to register for both Star Wars races as well this summer.

Thanks Ryan and Gretchen...one little penny and click at a time. It does take effort and some days not so easy! Thank goodness for insomnia and using my time productively rather than laying there and getting mad about not sleeping!

Grethen drank the Star Wars kool-aide...lol! SSSH....dont tell Debra but maybe that will be my next series after Dopey!

Yay! You are joining Betsy & I for the Kessel Run!

As far as drinks go in Canada - I like the Ice Wine & I like the Beer!

Hmm ... that ice wine sounds interesting, but I think I'm just going to go with the Moosehead Lager. Mostly because I've never had Canadian beer, surprisingly enough.

Canada drinking...Moosehead probably

Tammie...drink the Star Wars Kool Aid!!! Are you thinking 2019 or 2020?

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz, Stella Artois Cidre, Carnaval Moscato, & a Danasi
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere…
And there is so little time!

Africa

jam jar.jpe

Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz
I have heard so much about this wine and am excited to try it out! The Shiraz grapes are grown in Paarl Region of South Africa where flavor components bring outbig fruit flavor, but it's sweetness is tempered with acidity so that it doesn't become cloying in your mouth.Just a hint of tannin in the finish adds finesse without drying out the palette.

Belgium

stella_artois_cidre_2.jpg

Stella Artois Cidre

Brazil

Carnaval-Moscato-Brazil-Booth-432x625.jpg

Carnaval Moscato Sparkling White Wine
I do love my Moscato!

Brewers Collection

2015-Brewers-Collection-Menu-450x600.jpg beer flight.jpg

UGH, I am not a beer fan but a rule is a rule and you have to drink something at the booth. So I am going for the Danasi, and maybe a sip of someone’s beer flight.
