Run Now! It’s Wine 0’Clock in WDW…Cupcakes Gone W&D16

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: American Experience
Pre Planning Our Eat & Drink Around the World Crawl

(or by the end of the night teetering and rolling around the world)

Trying to find ways to pass the next 196 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running). Since the menus for F&W are not available for 2016 until the midSpring and we have pretty much covered favorite dining experiences and foods from around WDW…let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl Around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks…

Poor American Pavilion does not ever seem to get any love from me. My first trip to WDW, we did stop and watch the show as well as listen to the singers. I do like looking at the displays of artifacts they have inside as I am a HUGE history buff.

I am dying to try the lobster roll since my first encounter with F&W (too full by the time we reached this point…learning from my mistakes from that first trip and applying them to this trip)! But then again nothing says a gluttonous American like a...

And I love pumpkin spice...plus it is the season for all things pumpkin! But then again I have never stopped to have a...

Jalapeno-Cheese-Pretzel-Wetzels-Pretzels-Disneyland.jpg

Jalapeno & Cheese Mickey Pretzel which has been on my bucket list now for 2 trips!

What looks good for a snack for you? Sweet or savory it does not matter.

I wish there was a good restuarant at the American Pavillion. I do like the voices of Liberty though. I'll just be having a funnel cake I think.

Last year I said I was going to try the carrot cake, but never got around to it. And is that a pumpkin spice funnel cake??? Because I am a sucker for all things pumpkin!

A little behind after being at Dark Side...

Germany...I tried the grapefruit beer last weekend. It was SOOOOO good & refreshing (and I totally hate grapefruit), so...I will totally have that again

Italy...some gelato sounds good perhaps, maybe the ravioli. Unfortunately I will NOT be having the tiramisu martini from VN. Hubby & I shared one in Dec & did not care for it at all (and we like tiramisu)

America...honestly I have never gotten anything from there lol. If the pumpkin waffle is there, then totally count me in!

We love the funnel cake here & I love the show! No one else in my family does though- so I only get to go when they are tired and want an afternoon nap!

It’s 5 O’clock Friday
in America

ONLY 28 MORE FRIDAYS!

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails. Maybe we can find them a little more readily then the cupcake disappointment we experienced on our PHM Cupcake Crawl! Following in line with Whet your Appetite Wednesday, let’s begin to focus on F&W and our Eat & Drink Crawl around the World that we are planning for Sunday after the race (Rules and Logistics to come later).

So bartender...

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a Strawberry-Lemon Sunset

It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.

In the summer I love a Sonic lemon berry slush, but I must say Disney does the same thing but pushes their slush over the top with the addition of

Vodka. Hmmm…I might have to try this out this summer. Really make Sonic Happy Hour, HAPPY!

What are you having?

I wish there was a good restuarant at the American Pavillion. I do like the voices of Liberty though. I'll just be having a funnel cake I think.

I think? Come on Ryan commit!!! I would venture to say that almost every place besides World Showcase you can find American food...:rotfl2:

Last year I said I was going to try the carrot cake, but never got around to it. And is that a pumpkin spice funnel cake??? Because I am a sucker for all things pumpkin!

You can keep the carrot cake...but all things pumpkin :dancer:we do have to have our veggies, right?

A little behind after being at Dark Side...

sure rub it in...

Italy...some gelato sounds good perhaps, maybe the ravioli. Unfortunately I will NOT be having the tiramisu martini from VN. Hubby & I shared one in Dec & did not care for it at all (and we like tiramisu)

that makes me so sad to hear....:sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

I say you and I sneak in a lemon cupcake you were telling me about and watch the show! I love it too!!!!

Nothing about the American pavilion appeals to me really. If I had to pick though, it would be the carrot cake because I am a vegetarian so why not have cake with veggies in it :). To drink, perhaps champagne, but nothing really appeals to me. I think I will pass this one as we usually do.

I guess maybe a glass of Pinot Noir to drink? I'm not feeling the call of the American pavillion much...

And yes @momabaarjo I think anything with pumpking counts as a vegtetable! Just like in my house carrot cake counts as a vegetable!

I love getting the champagne on the Desserts and Champagne booth right before Illunminations!

Poor America...not feeling the love. But the rule states...must eat (at least a bite) and drink (at least a sip) at every booth and/or country. So you best be picking something out!

And now that we have our veggies covered for the day...

I mostly drink in America (or well mostly around the World)

They have Hanson Beer!!!!!! I love Hanson :)

Afterwards, I headed to the American Adventure Coffee Cart to have their only option for the festival. It was super refreshing as the heat was starting to pick up this day! They asked me if I wanted a single or a double - I was reasonable and said single as there could be more drinking going on and I already had a decent amount so far this day!

Frozen Strawberry-Lemon Sunset: Frozen Strawberry & Lemon topped with Grey Goose Vodka.
While I enjoyed my frozen cocktail, my husband went to Fife & Drum to select on of their options.

Mmmhops Pale Ale
He thought this was only ok. We aren't huge pale ale fans but this one wasn't as bitter as some of them can be. I may have been singing Mmmbop to him at this point to which he allowed. While sitting in the shade, we had a squirrel beggar that we didn't indulge.

Our next selection was Hops & Barley for my husband to have dessert.

Fresh Baked Carrot Cake w/ Craisins & Cream Cheese Icing

I went to have another pit stop and in the short time it took me to do that, it was gone. I think that means he liked it (other than picking around the Craisins)

We got another cocktail at Block & Hans where I had a glass of bubbly! It tasted nice from what I remember.

Champagne Enchantee Brut

Oh, America. The quick service place in the American Adventure Pavilion has kosher food available (little known fact), so this would probably be where I actually eat a meal instead of stumbling through snacks and alcohol.
Not that I'll be skipping the alcohol, of course. I think I'd probably try the beer flight at Hops & Barley because there are so many awesome options and that will cover a few of them.

The frozen sunset thing sounds yummy...but I could possibly go for a beer of sorts too. Will be a "game day" decision.

Count me in as nothing quite jumping out at me. The Pumpkin spice funnel cake would be a yes. I wanted to try the pumpkin spice waffle sundae at Sleepy Hollow last time. I am the same way I love all things pumpkin spice!!! I am mad that starbucks changed their recipe as the PSL taste like soap to me.

Frozen slush please!

Good call on a hot day

I mostly drink in America (or well mostly around the World)

I figured this was a big stop for you!

YAY a place that you can really eat at Sarah!

Me the cocktail girl and you the beer girl...I am thinking a lot of our choices will be game day decisions...

Another pumpkin lover...I hade that pumpkin spice waffle at Sleepy Hollow, disappointment not enough pumpkin spice! Don't mess with Kafi's coffee.

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: Japan
Pre Planning Our Eat & Drink Around the World Crawl

Epcot-Japan-1024x768.jpg

Totally starting to move out of my comfort zone with a step into Japan and the next couple of countries, as I would so love to push the boundaries and try new things. Now I love Chinese food…LOL but I often wonder how the American version compares to the real stuff.

Food & Wine Booth
–Spicy hand roll: Tuna and salmon with Kazan Volcano sauce
–Teriyaki gyoza bun: Steamed bun filled with chicken, vegetables and sweet teriyaki sauce
–Tempura Shrimp Roll: cut inside our roll, with cucumber finished with Teriyaki sauce
–Miso Udon: steamed shrimp, vegetables, and noodles in a spicy broth –

I really am not feeling the love for Japan but the Tempura Shrimp roll looks good

2015-Epcot-Food-and-Wine-Festival-Japan-Booth-Tempura-Shrimp-Roll-1-625x600.jpg

And I LOVE a Cherry Kaki-Gori (shaved ice and fruit syrup that resembles a sno-cone), which is made even better with some sweet milk poured on top!

kaki-gori-with-topping-Kabuki-Cafe-410x625.jpg

Or it might be fun to go into the snack shop below the Yakitori House and find something wild and crazy to dare each other to eat!

fun snacks.JPG

Depending on how much we have had to drink by this time might be a good thing when daring and might not be such a great idea when actually following through with the dare! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::scared1::scared1::scared1:AND NO POKI STICKS DO NOT COUNT!

What looks good for a snack for you? Sweet or savory it does not matter.

I can't say I'm into Japanese cuisine much so maybe I'll just stick to that ice cream they have. I am always afraid to try things here because of I don't like it I just wasted the money. I would need to share with someone in case of that.

AND NO POKI STICKS DO NOT COUNT!

But, but, but...I love Poki sticks! Or at least my inner fiver year old does. I also love the Hi-Chew candies that @Dis_Yoda posted. I love looking at everything at the Japanese shop. I have been to Japan so some of the treats I'm familiar with. But I'm not super adventurous at that cost!

Teriyaki gyoza bun: Steamed bun filled with chicken, vegetables and sweet teriyaki sauce

Might try this? I'm not a huge sushi person and I don't think we had anything at the Japanese booth last year.
