Hi :)

I searched but could not find an answer. My question is:

Do people run to get the FP's they want at rope drop? Should I wear a helmet? lol ok ignore the last question :)

I am wondering what to expect as I want to be at the front of the rope drop and get an ST FP right away.

Will I be trampled or not? Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Some people do, and some people are told not to. It reality it's like a lot of people speed walking when they are not led in after rope drop but free to go in at thier own pace.

Hi :)

Thanks! I just now read a post from today that said people were sprinting because there were no CM's anywhere to be seen. That won't work lol I hope they have CM's when I am there.

I am imagining Main Street as a high school hallway and the CMs yelling at visitors like students. :rotfl:

That's exactly what I want to happen haha Apparently there are supposed to be CM's lining Main Street so a stampede does not happen. They were lax that day I guess. I hope it's not a trend to come lol They can do the no CM's, cattle stampede, in Sept. ;)

Here's a view of the first people to enter the park after rope drop:
(one of a series of seven I have from a particular day, which is not the one mentioned in the ST post)

hey thanks :) Is the rest of the series located on here and was this taken in off season or peak? Thanks again! Hey I think you were the one who I saw post about the people sprinting lol. If not sorry :)

Hi,
We typically travel at peak times. At the rope drop we walk BRISKLY to get our fastpasses at DL. At DCA the first thing we do is pick up a FP for Soarin' and then line up for the rope drop and make tracks (read race walk) to Toy Story Mania. Alas, no FP for our favorite ride.

I've never felt like I was going to be knocked over but if there were little ones in our party I'd have given all the tickets to my husband and he'd hot foot it to get the FP and I'd stroll with the kids.

I had planned on having DH leisurely push our double stroller while I serve as our FP "brisk walker" but he will be in an ECV (due to hip injury/post-surgery recovery) if we can still go in September. So I guess my question is, will pushing a double stroller (while carefully avoiding other people's feet!) mean I will be really delayed in getting ST FP right at rope drop? Or do I leave the DDs and DH at Main ST while I hoof it alone to ST and then backtrack to get them?

Just wondering - what is the need to get FPs for ST right at rope drop? They go relatively quickly but not THAT quickly. Granted, we have not gone on ST, but just having been in Tomorrowland in the morning, I noticed that there were ST FPs available well after rope drop. So I think that even if you walked super slowly at rope drop, you'd be perfectly fine. In fact, you could probably ride it once and get a FP. The standby line one day this week was only 40 minutes at 9:10.

It is because the ST FP windows move out so quickly after rope drop that it really reduces you ability to get other FPs.

I also think it is fun to ride it S/B in the morning and then use your FP later in the day when the line is really long.

I think you'd be find if you walk briskly with the stroller. You may have to wait a bit longer in the FP distribution line but it's all good. Plus you may want to ride s/b and by that time your hubby should have made his way to ST.

I like your bit about avoiding taking out people with the stroller :thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm trying to get FP for ST as early as possible because ST is the only ride DH wants to go on and I don't want a late return time as we plan to return to the hotel early given our 2 year old's bedtime. Plus we also want to do FL early in the am so I wasn't planning on riding standby.

Yes, I will definitely be careful pushing the stroller--I've read too many threads here about thoughtless parents running over people's feet!

I still have no intention of posting the whole series, but given that this thread keeps going, here is "end of the beginning" of the rope drop dash.

Can't you get your next FPs a maximum of two hours after you the last ones you got, regardless of the return time or whether you used them?

Hi :) I think what he is saying, and my reasoning as well, is to get it quickly so you don't have to wait 2 hours for the next one but can get another FP in say 45 minutes. Big difference for me that's for sure :) I have read all of his FP guides forums and they rock. Read them and you will see why but you strike me as a relaxed, take it easy, kind of DL visitor and that's all good too. I, on the other hand, will be single riding and FP'ing my tail off :) hehe So the faster I can get another FP the better, woot!

Thanks for the other picture Perlster! That looks okay, brisk walk is fine :)

Little Toni you are right. The FP return window of ST advances super fast that if you aren't there to get a FP right away it's going to soon be the max two hours to get your next one.

So unlike most rides where if you go to get thier FP first, you usually can get your next in 35-45 minutes, ST can cost you a FP or two that may be available to you in a whole day.

Just check the very bottom of your fastpass ticket. It will tell you the time you can get your next FP. "Another FP ticket will be available at...." It is NOT always the time the FP is active especially if you get a FP in the morning that has a late afternoon return time.

We have never had an issue using our FPs way past the window stated on the ticket either. Just can't go before.

Hope this helps.

My DW and I were really surprised to see what happens at opening when we first tried arriving early for FL rides. :)

There are some people that do run but a large percentage are walking very very very fast. :) But I've never seen any pushing or shoving going on.

Thanks all :) Yes I am glad to hear it is not too crazy lol I can't wait to go :)
