RUN, EAT, DRINK, REPEAT- Wine and Dine Weekend 2016 Report (New 1/2 x2)

I know I want to do the walking tour too. It's only like $20.

I've seen plenty of spoilers and even watched a video. Knowing ahead of time doesn't bother me much. I do have FPs for it in January.

Nobody seems to do Boardwalk pub crawls and maybe that's because people think it's not very good? I've only ever been to ESPN club on the boardwalk so I wouldn't know. The Abracadabar looks really cool though.

Add this one to your must-do list as soon as you can! It was awesome! Worth the money!

Good to know there are videos out there because I wouldn't mind watching it in between trips, haha!

Race expo

Friday morning we slept in before doing a little hydrating and grabbing some breakfast from Beach Club Market Place. I love that though they don’t have the traditional sit down/food court area, there are so many other nice places to enjoy your food in the area. I believe we ate in the Solarium this morning.

Our plan was to get on the bus and be at the expo for opening (pretty much because we were up early enough and had the time) but we were running ahead of schedule so we did a little wandering outside. I stopped at Beaches and Cream and made a pressed penny:

Then we walked down and sat on the beach for a little bit before walking back to the bus stop.

We arrived at the expo and boy- I forgot what a long walk from the parking lot it is to the buildings. Geez!

31482515311_de825787fb_c.jpg

We grabbed some coffee outside and first went into the actual expo area because bib packet wasn’t open yet.

Nothing really tickled our fancy so we headed over into the opposite building so pick up our packets. On our way we checked out the course maps:

The crowds were low which was great! No wait to grab our bibs.

No characters were greeting but we had our own photo shoot anyways!

On our way back to the bus I grabbed some pictures of the races banners:

It was a nice day out and we commented we were actually kind of hot standing in the sun waiting for the bus! We went back to BCV and walked into Epcot for Food and Wine round two.

Living with the Land is on of my favorites...we had talked about riding, but somehow we missed it entirely this trip...even planned to do the walking tour. And the Chew, when I was going through my pictures and passport book I realized I totally missed it, UGH!

I love how you got dressed up and went out for the evening. That is one of my favorite things to do at WDW! And so jealous you made it to Abracadabar! Certainly on my list for the next trip!

I loved that there was no formal eating area at BC! All the spaces they have both inside and outside give you that relaxing feeling. I loved eating outside in the courtyard and then just sitting in the lobby in one of the nooks people watching and reading a book was awesome. Loved the beach are too, kicking back and reading with my toes in the sand! AHHHHH...take me back!

Mine too!

This resort was awesome! I mean, I knew I would like it, but I didn't know how much I would really love it!

Sounds like a great trip! I love food and wine.

So far, so good! Food and wine was great!

I like that the BC doesn't have a traditional food court too! They have some good food options throughout the day and the gift shop is attached. I love the beach there as well.

No crowds at the expo is great! The walk to the expo from the parking lot is really long but that's no different than walking in the parks really.

That's true, haha!

Following along! Looks like a great start to the trip! Can't wait to read more!

Back to Food and Wine

We wanted to make sure we visited the festival at least three times so we could pick up our AP glasses before the end of the trip. We decided to head in the opposite direction as yesterday so we took a right and walked towards France.

31666404536_cd9a8f8d1b_c.jpg

We stopped at Belgium and grabbed some food before planting ourselves at a nice, shady table in Morocco to do some tasting. First up? Two Belgian Waffles- one with berry compote and one with chocolate ganache, and the Leffe Blonde Belgian Pale Ale.

31666403546_d30e7e3beb_c.jpg

The beer was meh in my book but both waffles were really good! Caitlin held down our table while I backtracked to France and picked up the Croissant aux escargots with garlic and parsley and the Creme brulee caramel chocolat.

30893274003_c3f4e10334_c.jpg

The escargot was solely for me to taste- Cait doesn’t eat anything fishy, especially snails! It was fine- the escargot was kind of salty but the croissant was nice. The creme brulee was good but generic tasting. Once we had chowed down it was time to move again. We poked through Italy on our way to our next stop.

31587713741_02cfcb1512_c.jpg

We saw one of the little Remy’s from the Remy hunt activity!

31666377716_ce7028cc36_c.jpg

We went to Germany next where we got the Schinken Nudel and Apple Strudel (hey, that rhymes!)

31666375586_df3187f671_c.jpg

We found a semi-shaded picnic table near the African Output and sat for a bit to eat:

Sisters Meet Sisters

Deciding that we had eaten our fill (for now) we got in line to meet Anne and Elsa. Now, I’m no Frozen fanatic but it was maybe a 25 minute wait, we’d never seen this meet and greet area, and it was shaded so I was down. The new queue was cute- it’s like you’re walking through their house.

She loved out antlers and said maybe we could teach Sven how to decorate his!
Next, Elsa:

She also liked our antlers and said that maybe because we were sisters, we could make her and her sister a matching pair too! Our ultimate goal for the afternoon was to make it to Magic Kingdom so we started walking towards the front of the park. On the way we stopped to enjoy the cider flight from the Farm Fresh stand.
31556817012_60c543581d_c.jpg
The cider flight was a sample of the Woodchuck Raspberry, Wyder’s Dry Pear, Two Henrys Elderberry, and Florida Orange Groves Mango Mama Wine.

I just really like cider, okay guys?! All of these are quite good! This was very similar (if not the same) to the cider flight available during Flower and Garden.
On our way out of the park we window shopped Mouse Gears for a bit and stopped at The Wall. Okay, no- not the purple wall. We actually forgot to check out the purple wall in MK. However, we did stop at another nice wall outside the Spaceship Earth exit for a picture:

Finally, on our way from the World Showcase entrance to the front of the park I made my sister stop for a variety of Photopass pictures so here are some of my favorite:

A Magical Afternoon (part 1)

After this we left Epcot and took the monorail over to Magic Kingdom. As we entered, Festival of Fantasy was underway so we grabbed a spot and enjoyed!

Donald saw the guy next to me- a middle aged, big, burley Dad type, wearing a Donald Duck hat so he got all excited and pointed and waved. This is what I love about Disney- this guy got so excited and started waving back. When the parade was over, he was still talking all excited about how Donald saw his hat!

31666751166_25677ebbe3_c.jpg

The dragon was breathing fire today but sadly I didn’t get a picture!

We went to Tomorrowland (so really no excuse to miss the purple wall) and decided that it had been ages since we saw Monsters Inc Laugh Floor so we got in line.

30862093544_3db5ef5159_c.jpg

I forgot how funny this one can be! Definitely won’t wait as long to see it again! Caitlin wanted ot eat again so we walked over to Sleepy Hallow so she could get a Nutella Waffle.

31703569665_4753d7f79d_c.jpg

I think she liked it!

I was hungry too so we walked over to Adventureland and I grabbed a Dole Whip!

31703568195_6ace6ce088_c.jpg

Shout out to the dirty diaper in the picture next to me :scared:

I think we headed in this direction for a fast pass but I’m a bad trip reporter and didn’t do a very good job taking pictures so I’m not entirely sure what. Maybe Pirates? While we over here we did Swiss Family Robinson Tree House because we hadn’t done it before and we’re always trying to hit everything. Lemme tell ya- not impressed!

30893678653_62db2c6cf8_c.jpg

Just lots of climbing up and walking down stairs as a family let their kids run wild and shove their way around us.

A Magical Afternoon (part 2)

Our next fastpass window was approaching for Barnstormer and we didn’t want to trek all the way back across the park so we hopped on the train and took a leisurely ride.

31666749346_fae8c13f8e_c.jpg

We got off in Fantasyland and we got in the fastpass line and walked right onto the Barnstormer. I did grab a few pics of the train, and the monorail majestically rolling by!

Have you ever taken a look at the stuff on the ride platform? A couple funny details to see!

31331006690_d46c2ebaf8_c.jpg

This one is fun- I wish it was longer! I think our last fastpass was for Splash. Either way, we took the train back around to Frontierland where we had some free time so we sat down for the Country Bears.

31331004470_877da98722_c.jpg

We’d never seen this and honestly it was a little weird but it made us laugh! We were getting tired so thankfully Splash Mountain was our last stop for the night. The line was a little slow despite our fastpass but I think they were having technical difficulties or something. So, while we waited we took this picture with Brer Bear.

31331000410_0bc892a57c_c.jpg

I don’t think the family in front of us had ever been on Splash before and they were screaming and yelling the whole time. It was actually pretty funny!

31666759486_134a23ec67_c.jpg

They were holding on for dear life so we got a good picture despite being in the back row (you usually end up with hands to the face, haha!) After this we left the park. It was a little bit of a wait for the bus which made me crabby because I was tired and we still had to go back to the room and lay out our stuff for the 10k in the morning. Luckily once we got back it was a short walk from the bus stop to the room. We got everything in order quick, set that early alarm and were sound asleep. Time to start Lumiere’s Challenge in the morning!

Those waffles do look good! So many good options at Food and Wine it seems

Great pictures with Anna and Elsa, I have never met them but might do it this trip.

I love FoF. That's weird that Hook wasn't riding the anchor. I haven't seen anything else that he hasn't been riding it. One time I watched the parade there was no Tick Tock Croc.

Everyone keeps getting those Nutella Waffles, looks like I really need to try it. You can never go wrong with a Dope Whip though.

Country Bears is a must do for me!

Great Splash Mountain photo! That family in front of you is hilarious.

Following too. I love your TRs! I saw that you're running the marathon in a few weeks-alone?

Little variations in the entertainment always amuse- why the reason for the change? Illness/absence? Who knows! The little boy in the Splash family was crying by the end and all the adults were kind of laughing (which, one day when said little boy grows up, he'll probably laugh about it too!)

Following too. I love your TRs! I saw that you're running the marathon in a few weeks-alone?

Thanks for joining in! I am in the marathon- only a week and change away! It's been up in the air whether I'd be running alone or not. Caitlin had a serious horseback riding accident back in August and though thankfully she's fine, that was a serious running derailment. Right after Wine and Dine she injured her foot so she's had nothing but trouble trying to get to the marathon. We've decided that we will be at the start line together (and will hopefully make it to the finish line together too!)

Disney Wine and Dine 10k part 1
I don’t know what time we woke up this morning though I’m sure it was early because it was time to run the 10k! It took a loooooong time for a bus to show up to Beach Club and the line was long (all the way from the furthest bus stop to almost the front doors) but kudos to the Mears employee/volunteer because she was constantly on her phone trying to get us a ride. This is my beef with the Epcot resort area for race weekends- Disney never seems to understand that you can’t expect one bus to pick up runners at five stops.
We still got to the start line with plenty of time so we found a nice patch of parking lot and settled in to wait.
31123392044_46f86a8a24_c.jpg

We did pretty simple costumes this year but definitely got lots of shout outs so I was pleased that people recognized us.

Whipping our way through the 10k!
We moved over to corral A to wait about 20 minutes before race start. We crept forward to the start line and soon we were off! I was really excited to be running Disney again- I forgot how much fun their courses are. Mile 1 went by quick as we settled into our pace and moved around crowds. We generally only stop for characters with short lines, or those we haven’t met before. If we have a nice picture from a previous race we usually will keep moving. That being said, our first stop was for Princess Atta and Flik!
31123555514_8855f60609_c.jpg
Truthfully this could have been before mile 1- I can’t remember!
We ran through mile 2…

And mile 3…
31153844903_82e64d8d38_c.jpg
And got ourselves to World Showcase!

Our first stop was in Italy where we met this father/son duo:
31815679812_7a6afaab2a_c.jpg
Geppetto and Pinocchio! The line was only a few minutes and lots of people were following good picture stop courtesy which was nice to see.
We continued on through World Showcase hamming it up for the cameras as we went:

It was a nice treat to have our race pictures via Photopass this year! We passed mile 4 by the American Adventure:
