i think that rumors are sad. half of them are made up by the person they're about, a quarter of them are made up by a persons enemies, and the last quarter of them are actually true. people need to get a grip and CUT IT OUT!

okay this may seem random, so im going to explain why im so stoked about this.

last year, this disliked fat girl started a rumor about herself (i include that shes fat only to point out that she was starting out already hated, and it wasnt merely her personality-then). she spread it around that she was pregnant. i dont know why she did it, because she wasnt. maybe she wanted people to think that she wasnt worthless and that she was actually attractive? i think she was just lonely. well, this year, she starts telling everyone about how she..fooled around with her *female* friend, against this friends will. i was disgusted, because if she really did, people are going to hate her more for it, and if she didnt, then she just bashed her reputation. i think this is really sad and that she wouldnt be able to do this to herself without people there to spread these filthy rumors. everyone needs to get a hold of themselves and STOP SPREADING RUMORS because chances are, they arent even true.

im sorry if i just bored you, but i needed to rant. i dont understand this behavior, please explain it. or else, post any bad rumor experiences youve had in the past.

Ugh people used to spread rumors that I was pregnant or cheating on my boyfriend ALL THROUGH HIGHSCHOOL...4 years worth of rumors...it suxorz

because it's a movie theatre and it's a bunch of 15-20 year olds working there, so it's just like high school. TONSZZZ of rumours & drama.
I tend to not be involved TOO often, because I've had a boyfriend ever since I've worked there.

But my two best guy friends EVER work there. One of them I was semi-romantically involved with at one point (BEFORE my boyfriend) but anyways, tehre were TONS of rumours going around about us at one point. Like sometimes we go into the projection room and OMEFFG THATMEANSWEAREDOINGIT!!!!! there are rumours going around about us now, but I just laugh. He has a GF, I have a BF, we are just seriously like BEST friends, no roamnce anymore, so we just laugh and let them talk.

Someone started a rumour that i was aneroxic. I had people coming up to me at lunch, whilst i'm stuffing myself with food i may add, and give me advice and pretend to act concerned. Half of them had never even bothered to talk to me. Plus like hello i'm stuffing myself with food so how the hell am i aneroxic?

Eh i don't really get bad rumours but they are unbelievably stupid and annoying. I hate rumours about peoples families. I had one spread about my nan which was actually somewhat very near the truth. Yeh it made me feel really good.

I think workplaces in general are bad for rumors.
My friend works at Tim's, so obviously, most of the people who work there are young. They're constantly gossiping about each other... and I'll admit, even if I don't work there, I kind of get caught up in it.

No offence, but the bolded strikes me as really shallow. The way I'm reading it makes it sound like people hated her because she was overweight, which is really judgemental and shallow of them. If that wasn't what you meant, feel free to correct me, but that's just how I was reading it.

Anyway- rumors are the work of the bored and mean, but that's just me. However, if somebody wants to spread rumors about themselves, I'm not going to stop them. If they want negative attention, they can have negative attention. Chances are after a while, an adult will hear a rumor and confront the spreader/subject of it. At least, that's how it is at my school.

it is really shallow. im not one of the ones that judge her on it. im one of her friends, though i dont really like her all that much

I hate rumors.
But I always laugh if I hear one about me. Usually it's not often.
And let I it float around as they like, if that is what they call entertainment.
As long as I know the truth people can talk all they want and I'll just watch and laugh.
But the rumors weren't that bad, if It was something extremely bad then I would confront people.

I don't start them, but I don't sit around stewing over them.

The majority of people, in my life, anyway, don't really believe them.
And unless they're especially malicious, I don't think they're absolutely terrible.

Do they kinda suck? Yeah.

Exactly! This girl that is spreading rumors about me, like I dont even know why she is doing it. I stopped talking to her freshmen year, because she spread a rumor about me. She left our school last year.

Now, I have friends at her new school, and she is telling them "all the dirt she has on me." Well luckily they are real friends and are telling me these rumors and are sticking up for me. But seriously, what did I ever recently do to her? She can't seriously be mad that we arn't friends anymore...I mean come on its been three years now.

If her life is this pathetic, that she has to make up sh*t about my life, then I feel bad for her. But I'd rather not have my reputation trashed.

i haven't had really any bad rummors going on about me but this one group of girls start a rummor that i liked the nerd in our class. I can't stand him though bcuz my best guy friend last was afro amercian and this nerd told we should go out cuz we were always together. so we look at each and go "ewwwww" like we always did when ppl said and he goes "oh I guess that wouldn't work cuz he black and ur white." He totally phist me off. So I guess that a little off topic but that the reason I hate rummors.
