We will be there for the taping, and were wondering if anyone has heard anything about this. We think it will be fun to see a live taping, though we have been warned it is a longggg day. Trying to set the park plans in place for the week, so any rumors, facts or gossip is greatly appreciated!!:yay:

There is no live taping on Christmas Day from my experience over the past several years. It appears to be a previously- taped Mickey's Very Merry Christmas (separately-ticketed) event that is presented on TV to make it look as if it is happening live.

Christmas Day at Disney is not overcrowded or overrun with people and is like any other day in November or December. The people who avoid the park believing that there will be crowds are replaced with about the same number if people who believe there will be a live taping. The difference is that it is Christmas Day(!); make sure to wish everyone that day, especially the cast members, your deepest holiday wishes.

The Christmas Day Parade Taping was November 4-5, 2011. I've seen photos and reports on other websites to confirm this.

The OP didn't say they'd be there Christmas Day, or that is when the taping was. It also is not part of a MVMCP event either - the tapings take place during the day (MVMCP takes place after dark), usually on two consecutive days, over many hours each day. From what I remember, it is generally taped during the first weekend of December - at least when we've been down there.

Magic Kingdom has reached closure levels on Christmas Day - which means it is as crowded as it can really get. It also likely has very little to do with whether people believe there is or isn't a "live taping".

However it is also crowded on several of the other days between Christmas and New Years.

we were there the for the taping in 2008, by accident, it took place the first saturday of december, and was PACKED!!, they taped the same performers 2 or 3 times to make sure everything was captured from all angles, when you walked in, you were taken behind main street, and came out by buzz lightyear space ranger spin, if for sure is not the the mvmcp

Either you're speaking of some other Disney or some other Christmas Day.

Mid-December expect to be able to walk onto any ride (other then Toy Story) or at most have a 10 min wait.
Christmas Day, expect MK to stop admitting people before noon due to capacity being reached. It will open and close throughout the day and crowds ebb and flow. We didn't even try to do any rides last year, we just wanted to experience MK on it's busiest day of the year ... and it was an experience :lmao:

We made it to a taping on accident about 10 years go. The kid from Wonder Years & Sabrina the Teenage Witch were in it and got pics with them. Back then it was closer to Christmas....around the 18th/20th.

Broke my heart to find out it was taped and not live on TV, Christmas Day.

Speaking of Christmas Day.....MK usually stops letting people in by 10-11 A.M. because it is at capacity. Do not fool yourself into thinking the crowds will be light at all during the Christmas Holiday all the way thru New Years. It's crazy crowded. But FUN!!! Think about it - who wouldn't want to be at MK for Christmas?
We went 5-6 years in a row and had the times of our lives.

Have a blast and be ready for the crowds. Our experience was that most everyone was pleasant. Just know you won't be getting on any rides or thru any lines quickly and enjoy the day.

My apologies, you are correct...Disneyland was Nov 4-5

Looks like the WDW taping is December 2-3 with the 4th as a make up day.

Sorry for any confusion!!

They also did some additional taping at Disneyland on Nov 10th. I walked right by the set. They were on Main Street and when I asked they said it was for the Christmas special. Odd the folks weren't really dressed in "holiday" attire. Well I will have to watch on Christmas morning to see if I see the part they were taping.
