Rumors that Disney is in negotiations to sell Star Wars back to George Lucas!

That's not really a fair argument, because you would have had to have seen the movies in order to say you don't like them in good faith. If we're going with the box office=good movie logic, then I guess Transformers 19 is better than Citizen Kane...
Which is why I specifically pointed out that I don't have access to inflation-adjusted numbers.

Nonetheless, any movie that grosses over $1B in the past 20 years is clearly not a failure.

That's fine, but then instead of "Did you expect everyone to just stay silent while she destroyed people's childhood heroes?" you should say "Did you expect me to just stay silent while she destroyed my childhood heroes?" Otherwise it appears you're attempting to speak for "everyone."
Yeah, because I am the only person on planet earth who hates how Luke was deconstructed on the big screen? Clearly Luke Skywalker himself (Mark Hammil) hated how his character was treated, so there's that. That one movie alone launched hundreds of Youtube chanells with millions of viewers who hate how Luke was treated in that movie. It is a significant number of people and you know this, but feel the need to minimize it for some reason. It has been said over and over by many mainstream publications that TLJ "split the fan base". So, is it not logical to assume a significant portion of the fan base hated how that movie went?

Google most divisive movies in history and see how often TLJ appears on those list?

So you are speaking for more than just yourself, then.

Do you think I am only person on planet earth that hated how Luke was treated in these movies?

I think my overall viewpoint is representative of a significant portion of the fan base, yes. I have stated that clearly multiple times.

Now my specific thoughts are likely unique to me.

Yeah, but my point of view on it also represents a significant protion of hte fanbase, yet you dismiss that.

I don't dismiss it, I disagree with it passionately. I honestly have no clue how you could have possibly seen the same movie as me and then think what you think, but I believe you. You are free to love Rey and TLJ, but I am also free to say it was the steaming pile of poo that it was. Yes, I do believe I am correct and you are wrong, as that is how opinions work.

But people on YouTube say she has full control and is evil!

I have some secret insight into what goes on at Lucasfilm:

Kathleen Kennedy enters the room wearng a witch's hat and a shirt that says "Girl Power" on it. "Okay, everyone, listen up. I hate Star Wars and especially Luke Skywalker, so I'm going to make some movies that absolutely ruin it for all the fans, especially the men!"

Dave Filoni: "But, Kathy - are you saying you're going to destroy Luke Skywalker?"

Kathleen: "No, Dave. I'll do worse than that - I'll protray him as just a little bit less than perfect! That'll really get them riled up! Muah ha ha ha ha!"

Rian Johnson pops around the corner dressed like Jar Jar Binks. "I'm In - I LOVE making movies that nobody likes!"

KK: "Great! I'll be in my office taking a hammer to vintage Luke action figures!"

In walks Jon Favreau in a Superman t-shirt! "Not so fast, Kathy! I'M here to make GOOD Star Wars that everyone will love!"

KK: "But you can't! I won't allow it!"

Jon Favreau: "Nice try, Kay-Kay, but I don't take orders from no ladies! Come on, Dave, grab your hat and let's get to work." Jon and Dave start shooting The Mandalorian right then and there as Kathleen and Rian jump up and down in front of the cameras trying to ruin the shot. In the background, James Manglod walks through clashing cymbals. "I'm making the exact same Indiana Jones movie for the fourth time!"

Baby Yoda: "I don't know what all the fuss is about - everybody loves ME!"

KK: "Just you wait until season 3, young man! I'll get you yet!"

I think that sounds pretty much right. 😁

Yep, sounds pretty close. Maybe KK wears Palpatine robes instead as Darth Kennedy though instead of a witch. The witch seems much less fitting than an evil Sith Lord imho. Also, the T-shirt is probably a "The Force is Female" one if we want to be a little more true to form.

Or more realistically, she is just really bad at her job and proves again and again that just because you are allowed in the room when people are making great things, you in fact still have no idea how to do what Lucas and Spielberg can do. She made her career from being in the right place at the right time with other people mainly calling the shots. Now that she is the one calling the shots, the wheels appear to be falling off. She just called all the shots on a movie that will likely lose her company 300-400 Millon dollars.

Question for the group. If they ever finish and get into theatres (KK's track record of announcements versus actual movies and all) the new Rey Palpatine movie, do you think they will attempt to give her an actual failure or two so they can make her have some semblance of a normal hero's character arc? Will this help her not being perceived as such an overpowered Mary Sue you think?

No one in this thread has said that.
It is a significant number of people and you know this, but feel the need to minimize it for some reason.
It may indeed be a "significant number," but that isn't what you said. I was merely responding to your hyperbolic "everyone," which you have used (or similar wording) on a (significant) number of occasions. Hyperbole does not enhance your arguments.

Didn’t ruin my childhood, my childhood was incredible. Any kid that grew up in the 80s likely had a great childhood like me.

It did however completely deconstruct one of my childhood hero’s though. For that I can never forgive Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson.

So here's a fun thing you can do: Just imagine this completely made-up character however you want. If you want to end his story after Jedi, go for it.

Maybe she'll be a bitter hermit living on a remote world detached from the Force until a young upstart comes to bring her back into the fold.

I doubt it, they won’t treat her character like that as they have too much respect for her.

They will likely have her accomplish all the great things that the deadbeat Luke wasn’t able to accomplish.
