That scene where Rey gets the lightsaber is probably my favorite moment from the ST. It's just so epic.

Because the whole male/female war is just nonsense. It is fabricated by people who want to see what they see. It's jus thte Internet trolls looking for something to be outraged about.

Human nature. It always seems to be someone's "turn" at the expense of someone else. I thought progressiveness and inclusiveness was when all colors, ideas, walks of life, orientation, etc. were elevated together. The day we figure that out is the day we really evolve as a species. It doesn't have to be "king of the hill"... only taking the top by knocking someone else off. As a counter to this movement we should all go out and find ways to serve and love other humans. Selflessness is beautiful. Stay happy!

No, just saying the odds of that happening 13 consecutive times at that precise moment are astronomically low.

I saw it 3 times, the week it came out and this happened zero times at those showings. No one booed, I did lean over and asks how the heck does she know how to do that though.

With all this talk of Rey coming from nowhere, didn't Anakin come from nowhere. Would it have been better if Rey was a "miracle" baby. Just seems like nitpicking to me

Great, the scene does not matter right? Then do it properly and give her a proper hero's journey so it makes sense to the people that do know the history and lore as well. Don't make her a Mary Sue, and I am not arguing with you right now.

Of all the things Rey was so unbelievably incredibly good at, the mechanical aptitude is the least of the offenses to me. Her past clearly shows she had a wealth of knowledge taking things apart and even understanding how things worked. I don't doubt for a minute she was really skilled in mechanics related tasks. I have worked with some incredibly brilliant female engineers. This is 100% believable to me.

Her overpowering a 6'2" highly trained fighter and force user with her having essentially no training at all, not so much.

Still doesn't mean it wasn't really stupid and nonsensical. People love stupid and nonsensical things all the time, like Happy Gilmore. You pretty much know it was nonsensical when Luke Skywalker himself (Mark Hamill) thought the scene was illogical.

That's supposedly a fake rumor but even if it is true, why does it bother you? Why does it matter if the female is a better force user? Why does it hurt your ego so much if a female is better than a male at something? Why can't a female be a better user of a mythical power than a male?

Even though they are everywhere, they seem to think each one of them needs to tick a whole bunch of specific boxes to make sure they are embodying the stereotypes that they feel women should have, and that they can’t possibly be reinforcing any stereotypes they feel women shouldn’t have.

So they’re all the same character and they’re all really, really uninteresting.

I mean, it's a huge climax of the movie. I don't know why it's hard to believe people cheered every time.

It seems like there's trying to be a joke there. Like, bypassing the compressor doesn't usually mean just ripping it out of ship. It just lands flat - which is okay. Lots of jokes in real life do that. That and the helmet scene shows that Rey has a playful side, though she's maybe a little more in on her jokes than anyone else is. Like I said, she's...odd.

Correct. They are scared to death to give a "Strong Female Lead" any flaws because they assume that will make them weak. Instead, they make them incredibly unrelatable because they are too perfect.

Amazing to me that they used to know how to do this, but forgot. Take Ellen Ripley as an example from Alien. Was there ever any doubt who the hero of that movie was? Did you ever hear anyone not like that character? Incredible character in every way, but now I am a "misogynist" because I think Rey was a Mary Sue.
