Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Totally :offtopic: but did you guys know that now Fantasmic! dinner package tickets are good 5 days from the actual dinner package. So like, you could have dinner on the Monday on the F! dinner package, and use the tickets any other day within 5 days? I just found that out, but I'm not sure how new that info is.
I like the flexibility of this....

Well, while I'm "cautiously optimistic" I'm not going to get crazy yet....we've been down this road before....

I think where I'm at is ................ if this has the same components as Jungle Book Alive ................ I'm going to be so so disappointed. LOVE the looks of the floats but so afraid they've built all this hype and caused all this anticipation .............. and thud. I am planning my trips all without it, if it happens ..... I'd rather go in with full reviews and adjusted expectation.

Even Jungle Book was so far down the scale from Disney past quality that I had to wonder that with other changes (no night parade at MK, disappointing reviews of SW "show" & fireworks, etc) that ROL won't also be a new Disney look.

HOPING HOPING HOPING they don't go this path but .............. I wouldn't have ever put JB out for public viewing .......... so my hopes are not for when it starts or my trip, my hopes are that we aren't putting out another disappointing "attraction".

So IF they ARE going to change Rumors of Light into actual Rivers of Light, where should I be looking to check for availability and bookability of a dining package?
Is it likely to be very difficult to get into the show without a FP or a dining package? (I know it's all speculation.)

Back in the daaaay…. We heard that the JB dining packages were listed "in the hub" per a source with access to the info. Then we saw the JB dining package but could not place the order/reservation. Then in about a day or two it was open for reservations in the dining reservations page (for ADRs). The timing of the opening (to make an ADR) was also in flux, sometimes earlier than 7am. If I remember all this correctly…. seems kinda hazy now… like "last year" hazy.

Moar EDIT; We won't really know about the seating till we see if they replicate what was done for the JB show. Maybe someone that went standby could speak to the JB seating for that. (given the above caveat)

Rivers of light hopefuls, keep an eye on the week of October 16th...

ugh.... we are going to be in Orlando 10-11 until 10-18, but planned our WDW days from 10-11 until 10-15 and 10-16 until 10-18 as US. I could change things around......

So, to those of you scoring at home, one sister has dropped out of our Epic Easter Sister Trip 2017. And then there were three...

Sooo, hoping for some actual *information* about ROL by next April so that we can both plan for and see it! - a girl can dream!

Sooooo, given how unusual things seemed to be last spring when I was planning our last trip - last minute changes, lack of info, etc., in a manner that I had not fully experienced before, I may be coming here to ask some :offtopic: questions if I can't find the answers in a search.

I do this for three reasons - first, you are a experienced and wise group that check this thread, and second, you are my peeps and you are a patient people, and three, "off topic" has always been loosely defined here! :lovestruc

I'll be back...

:sad: :offtopic: Ok sort of. I leave for my trip in 4 days. I'm gonna cry! I will have left 15 days before it opens!! I guess on a side note there's always next time for me to see it!!

IF it opens then. We've seen this movie before ..... Now they have made it pretty far but until Disney actually ANNOUNCES (haha) an opening and it is operating flawlessly, there are no guarantees. Remember for this to not be another PR nightmare, it has to be good and it has to reset since the theater is small.

For any of the packages if you open the website, go to search and type in "Rivers of Light Dining" it should bring up every restaurant that it is possible at. Once you click a restaurant you are usually able to book via that link. NOW given the history and rumors here, they may handle this different but if they are smart they will release it online and save their phone CMs some stress and expected release of bad info.

I'll be back...

Well on the up side she dropped out way in advance. Hopefully we will all hang around with our off topic and on topic stuff. If Rumors of Light becomes Rivers of Light so be it ........ no reason the Rumors of Light Lounge can't flourish. Who knows, we may outlast the actual show if it ends up being JB Alive part II. Last photo of saw with ROL floats they still had those awful cheap barge stages blocking views and ruining the ambience.

LOL regarding JB Alive, @HopperFan - yes, did not hear good reviews about that! Cheap barges but let's hope they still have exquisitely costumed shamans... I think I will want to see it even if the reviews aren't great - for closure if nothing else! I'm definitely turning my sights on Tiffins - that's open yes? Anyone tried it? I need to find that nighttime AK thread again...

You're right about it being good that she dropped out early rather than late - that will definitely makes things easier in the long run!

Yeah, I went to JB even though I swore I wouldn't. With Dinosaur closed I had the FP+ so why not. We pre-gamed at Nomad Lounge, didn't help. Was so bad on all levels. The stages are right there at your seats, so distracting, so ugly and they blocked our view of water areas ... no problem with JB since the water float was empty and pointless but I don't want my view of these ROL animals and flowers blocked. There is plenty of space along the front of the theater the performers can be on without blocking the full picture.

I would 1000% book the Tiffins Show Package. It's a deal even without a show, unless they decide to up that one, highly possible. We loved Nomads!! Will for sure go back there. Loved all the entertainment and tree projections. Beautiful park at night!

I'm sorry I've been away for so very long. We were in Orlando for almost a month and after a few day of getting adjusted to just being home our well pump gave out. Then school started back for my boys. Any way I hope to be around a bit more often. I'm pulling for all of you with up coming trips and hope the rumors of Rumors turns out to be true. Our TH dinner bill had ROL stamped on it:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:at least we liked the JB show.

Hi everyone!

I'm late to the party but I brought snacks to the lounge

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

@rteetz saw your post to be on the lookout week of Oct 16. That is the day we arrive and Thursday Oct 20 is already scheduled as an evening at AK. I would love to be able to give you all a review of the show.

Dee

My sister really wants to do AK at night, so that's definitely in our plans - good to know about the Tiffins package - she wants to try Tiffins and Nomads too, so should be an easy sell! Hopefully it all won't be a mystery by then...

Good to see you! Sorry about your well pump - hope it's fixed soon! That's crazy about the ROL stamp - you just can't make stuff like that up!

Do we have any thoughts about how bad standby will be for ROL once it opens? One of my days at AK will be our first day and since we're having to activate our package tickets early, I won't be able to make advanced fastpasses for AK that day. I'm thinking all the ROL fastpasses will be long gone, so standby would be my only option if we want to see it that day. What do you think? This would be the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We do have the option of seeing it a couple days later with a fastpass, so we might just have to do that.
