Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Sorry I haven't been around much. The first month of school is always so hectic. I have days where I don't even get on the DIS which was never heard of during summer break. Good thing I have until June for our trip. As things settle down at work and my trip gets closer, I'm sure I'll be on more. As of now, I'm wondering about a lot of things for June (ROL, MK nighttime parade, Avatarland) but its just way too early to know.

June ........... my money is on MK Nighttime parade and ROL has started.

Avatarland will be a late 2017 at the earliest. I challenge them to prove me wrong on that one.

I can't believe there is no new tidbits about ROL... I can't help myself hoping it will debut soon after Jungle is over :(

Yeah ...... I don't think we'll be seeing ROL the next couple months. I think they are depending on the draw of MNSSHP, F&W and MVMCP. I laugh every time I think about changing the shirts to 2017, never would have crossed my mind.

I've ditched my Sept 10 day trip, looking at a short October (crashing in DS hotel room as he is there for event) and ... aside from MK and MNSSHP .... getting UO APs ........... :duck:

Yeah ............. so I just booked my FP+ for next week ............. and ..................

I booked FP+ for Jungle Book.
Walk of shame time.
I just want to sit in the theater and imagine ..... what could have been.
I want to see the tree lit up from there.
I want to sit in the theater, in the dark, with Everest behind me.
My DS will like any kind of show.
Dinosaur, which would have been my 3rd FP+ is closed.
I think that if I have a few yummy drinks before I go in, it will blur it all ....

:rotfl: Sounds like a good time to enjoy a Dole Whip with rum!

I'm pouring over the menus ..... I do have two hands .... and I can have DS carry two for me ..... and the Disney bus can get me back to the hotel.

Do they have drink carriers?

I am visualizing me with my Lotus Flower Popcorn holder, Lotus Lantern "mug" all blinking, a row of drinks .......... in a park with no straws..........

Having recently sat through the show, may I suggest a lovely Sugar Cane Mohito pre-show?
...
And another during...

:D

I believe I have some studying to do ...........

So I saw the Jungle Book show over the weekend. Way back in March and April I assume it be ROL by now. I went in with low expectations. I thought it was entertaining but I would not wait hours to see it.

I would highly recommend the Tiffins dinner package of you are debating eating there and want multiple courses.i know my meal ended up be cheaper with the package. The food and service were excellent.

Just a "headsup" that the JB dining package for Tiffins is a good value. If they are still offering the same one as in June. I personally vouch for the drinks at Nomad Lounge! mmm….

We brought speciality drinks into the theater while waiting for the show. We liked the very back row of the dining package section. You could stand, sit, do the hokey-pokey to the bridge in bare necessities….. "Now when you put your paw in, make sure it's your Right. And if can shake it, then put it out of sight! When you put in your Left paw, don't make it your Right, 'cause then your Right paw is a poor paw that's just not quite right!" Then you're pretty close to the exit to scoot out and go watch the tree at the front gate. We had the early JB show, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the tree. It was a nice touch post-JB. As other have said circa page 600ish, stay for the kiss goodnight, if you can.

EDIT: I just saw 10CJ also recommended the same. Mmmmm…. bountiful deliciousness…..

Am talking to my CM friend who is now going to meet us there. She said Nomad drinks are awesome .... I have Tables in Wonderland .... might move my safari back some and hit the lounge before the show.

Yes, please enjoy a delicious libation for me!
I couldn't use TiW when I was there, but honestly it wouldn't have stopped me from ordering more. We were limited by time (I'm a slow sipper). Kinda wished I had a bevy of beverage buddies to enjoy the variety of the menu.

I'll do what I can and take it for the team.

Yes! I will vouch for the awesomeness of Nomad Lounge! Of course, we were there the day before they started accepting TiW , but even without the discount........ LOVED IT!!!!

We skipped JB!

That's pretty much what I figure, as well.
I think that next March, we should declare a "SPECIAL EVENT ROL" day on here to celebrate our initial excitement and anticipation of "Soon" and "Water and Light" and "Watch the Blog"....who would have ever though back then that so much time would pass before we actually see a launch of ROL...well, maybe....I guess we have to keep watching the Blog....

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

EDITED: I looked at the first page, and find that it wasn't March, it was Feb. 23 when ArielSRL first posted about menus and dining packages...and we've been at it ever since!!

So, next Feb 23 is our 1 year anniversary!! Gotta do something great while we continue to wait....and wait....and wait.....

I started a thread over on community board entitled "bait and switch" (maybe I was a bit harsh and inflammatory towards Disney Corp) that basically vented my frustration in planning a vacation with ROL being one of my main draws back to wdw when I started planning last year and now here we are in Oct and the main thing WDW is advertising for fall is MSEP getting the hook. Let's just say the "true" Disney fans did not take my bait and switch jab at wdw very lightly and mounted quite the defense on Disney's behalf. Walt would be proud of their efforts, I'm sure. But I wonder what he would have to say to the ROL team???

I think a "bait and switch" theory makes absolutely no sense.

Disney obviously didn't INTEND RoL to be a disaster!! Thus they didn't "bait" you deliberately with one thing and "switch" to something else on purpose with the intent of fleecing you in some way. Nonsensical.

Not surprised that wasn't so well received.

Yes, I agree...not bait and switch, but certainly not very well planned and implemented...hopefully, it's a lesson learned on their part. "Don't sell something you aren't ready to give."
