Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Did anyone do May the Force (Fourth) today at DHS? I was debating of changing our first DHS day to today but when I saw the weather forecast I decided against it. Just wondering if there was some special stuff going on?

We checked into the BW Disney Springs today and were upgraded to Disney view on floor 12 (pixie dust)! So we're going to watch them from the balcony tonight if they happen instead of taking the bus to the TTC and watch them from the dock. I really really wanted to do this but the weather is just so crappy right now.

We had lunch at Sanaa today - the food was superb! We also watched the animals before we headed to Jambo House. Baby Gigi was out with mom and auntie - I caught some nice photos of her during a very short break in the rain when we could go outside.

At 3:45pm we did the culinary tour at Jambo House which includes Boma and Jiko. It was nice hearing about the theming of the restaurants. My DS11 was awesome - he tried to translate everything for DS7 and DD3 and thus kept the entertained during the tour. The tour guides were also great, always trying to include my kids. We got to try some of the food both at Boma and Jiko. Part of the food offerings were zebra domes (OMG are they yummy!). Since they have alcohol in it, our tour guide let my kids pick another desert from the buffet. If you guys have an off day and don't know what to do, try this tour! It's free and usually not very crowded ( there was just one other lady besides us doing the tour). There's also one at Sanaa but we haven't done that one since it's at the same time.

Not AK related, but for those of you going to a MNSSHP or MVMCP this year, your wallet is going to take a big hit (some tickets up 28%) and they go on sale tomorrow!!!

http://wdwnt.com/blog/2016/05/break...s-full-pricing-breakdown-go-on-sale-tomorrow/

I think we all expected an increase with the delay in announcing prices, and we joked at the $100 price point, but really I didn't expect so much, so many tiers and WOW - given the obvious increase in number of tickets sold last year this is a bit much. We have done 2 parties a year for a decade and if it weren't for my DS LOVE for this party, I wouldn't be going. Right now I am debating still but guess I'll wait for AP dates, find an early one.

Probably just raising prices !! :stir::stir:

Or getting rid of something --- lets see--- we lost turkey legs, churros, cheese, stuffed pretzels--- I know I'm missing a few--- maybe ketchup hitting the trails !!???

Winner, you were right.

Is anyone here waiting for the Jungle Book of Light show? Since that's what will be playing during our upcoming trip, I'm wondering when I can try to snag a FP...

I'm not. I'm making no effort to go to this. I want to see Rivers of Light for my first time in that arena, I want to be wowed.

Even worse than those God awful benches for Fantasmic!?

And Beauty & Beast, ugh.

I'm really, really hoping for a DVC/AP discount on those outrageous prices! We're going on a Friday so I doubt it but even a little would be helpful. SO glad we switched from the last week in October!

AP and DVC discount dates are in the article. Only 2 AP dates in October :(

Catching up on people's trip reports and the thread and such...feel like things have been very hectic since we returned - haven't really even been able to put my thoughts together on this trip...

So, then my daughter had a seizure on Sunday. We're hoping it was a one time thing but things have been a bit stressful - she is having an EEG tomorrow morning. I have to keep her up until Midnight - she has to be sleep deprived. She is my early bird so this will be no small feat. I can't even keep her up in Disney doing fun stuff. She's already crabby. We may have to go to IHOP or Dunks.

Right now we are watching bad tween shows and coloring and thread-catching up.

So, tell me...what is the Jungle Book thing? I am reading back a few pages but yet I am lazy and would like to be spoon-fed the information...
So sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope you get some answers!

Hope ROL packages will be up sometime soon. :confused3 Hoping to get a ressie for July trip.

I don't think we'll see any RoL packages until they are sure it all works .... once that happens we should get wind of it working and then we can expect them to open it up. Unless they plan to do packages for the Jungle Book thing...

Ummm...turkey legs and churros really gone? im hoping this is sarcasm or a sick joke.

Is jedi training times showing up for anyone else on may 21, 22, 23? They show before and after that but not those days, hoping it's a glitch...

Based on @yulilin3 's post from the HUB the other day, it sounds like they will be doing JB packages at Flame Tree and Tusker House.

Monday is the actual holiday, that's when banks and many US businesses are closed.

:offtopic: Thanks for all the support and positive thoughts, ROL friends! I truly appreciate it!

She had her EEG yesterday. She was able to sleep during it as needed, so that's good! You'll be happy to know that DH also slept like a baby through the whole thing! Hoping for results on Friday or Monday - hoping it was just a fluke/ 1 time thing as the pediatrician suggested. She was exhausted after the test - so was I - so she stayed home from school and we watched a movie, took a nap and went out to lunch!

Hello everyone...haven't been on this thread for quite a while as I was really busy planning our trip for last week. I'm hopelessly behind, so I'm just jumping back into the lounge here, and will try to catch up with everything that's happened!

We stayed at French Quarter, had two rooms, and even though we had requested connecting room close to transportation (for mobility issues - 2 seniors in the party), they really messed up our location. We eventually were able to move to a building closer to the bus stop, but rooms were not connecting - which in the end was OK. (I know that requests are not guaranteed, but we had our TA put it on our reservation, as well as using the online check-in AND touring plans fax, and the original locations were not only really far from transportation, but rooms were located in SEPARATE buildings. The Desk CM did say she saw the TA's room request on our account. The room assigner must have been Grumpy the day ours were assigned, and gave us exactly the opposite of what we requested!)

Despite the rocky start with rooms, the trip was fantastic. Most incredible was the Star Wars stuff in HS. We watched the Captain Phasma march/show a couple of times, once getting in the front where the Storm Troopers march right up in your face. Even though I know there is probably a pimply faced 18 year old inside that costume, it was a bit intimidating, but very fun! The Star Wars Launch Bay was really fun - the Jawa wanted to trade a lanyard for the 17 year old in our group who was wearing her R2D2 ears, and I got a hug from Chewie (he really does nice hugs, too!)

The roaming Storm Troopers were fun to watch also as they hassled the "citizens" telling us all "don't be afraid, citizens, we are here to protect you" and checking the occasional "IDs " (magic bands) of some, and warning us that there were rebel spies in the area - "The Resistance will NOT prevail!" Crowd theater done well! Then, there was the Star Wars Dessert Party: Amazing fireworks show - best I've seen anywhere - not-so-amazing desserts and drinks, but we each got our "free" Chewie mug! Next time, I'll bring along a towel to sit on, and join the thousands hanging out in the open area - same great view without the cost. Not sure now what I'll do with the Chewie mug...

I wore my ROL button the first few days, but never saw a single other one, or shirt. The pin was put on mine upside down, so it kept coming off my backpack strap, and eventually fell apart entirely, so I tossed it. I know a couple other folks from here were there sharing the heat and humidity experience last week, but we just never saw any others.

So, I know a lot of peeps are saying that the MNSSHP price hikes are ridiculous (I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH HALLOWEEN WHAT IN THE WORLD!), but September 2nd is $72. That's up $4 from last year. I was actually expecting to see it hit $80 pp, not gonna lie, because of the outrageous EMH and the after-hours ticket event. I'm just quite happy to be honest and I know that some others aren't, but it's better than $80 right?

Also, back to RoL.

DBf and I will be in AK on a Friday. He wants to do the Backstage Tales Tours, but it'll eat into our morning and leave us with very little time to do much else before our TH ADR. I asked him this morning if he really wanted to do it and he's now iffy and I feel kind of guilty. I just want to make sure! It's $191! :( What would you do? I'm trying to get some pros and cons about the whole situation. And if RoL does happen to be up and running (yeaaaaaah about that), should we do it because we'll have extra time in the park? The park closes on 5PM that night as of now, so, idk. Oi, I'm rambling now. Advice? :(

Floating Bear, I just looked back to see what happened...thoughts and prayers coming your way. Hope everything shows up as normal when you get the results back!

Back on April 8, I said I expected $89 and $99 to be the new price points...unfortunately, I wasn't kidding.:rolleyes1
