Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Looking for opinions. My last day of my Disney vacation is 4/26 and we are spending it at MK. Of course that happens to be the first day of EMM. I have a BOG res for 8:50 that morning. Do you think there is any value in keeping that? My original thought was that we could at least get in the park early and maybe get some nice non crowd pics (like my profile pic). However we would be eating at prime rope drop time instead of getting in a line. Just wanted to hear some thoughts and suggestions on this. :)
If it's your last day I'd keep it all the EMM people would be off MSUSA way before you're let in.

I knew Honey I Shrunk the Kids was closing in April but it still makes me sad. I loved that area as a kid. So glad DD and DS got a chance to experience it once before it was gone. I was looking at a HS park map online today and the area is just trees now.

We have a BOG resv also for that day, and I asked that question on the BLOG yesterday, they answered:

I’m interested in understanding how this will impact guests with existing early dining plans at Be Our Guest, the Castle, and Crystal Palace. We have an 8:05 AM reservation booked months ago, for a day that is now available for the Early Morning Magic guests. We’ve already pre-ordered our breakfasts, and are looking forward to it. But what will happen when we finish dining? Will we be allowed out of the restaurants, or held in a queue somewhere until rope drop?

  • Yes, you will be allowed out of the restaurant.

Breakfast guests will be treated the same as they are today – you will be directed to a queue after breakfast to wait until the park opens. (For example, if a group finishes dining at Be Our Guest and wants to visit Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, they are queued outside the attraction until park opens and then are allowed to enter).

So, for us, the answer is yes, however our resv is earlier than yours and we will be finished eating earlier.

I brought it up because the difference between buying into Poly direct vs resale is only $10-$15 per point. If you want all the membership benefits (assuming that matters to you), then you're not saving much by buying Poly resale. In fact, the savings on annual passes and Tables in Wonderland dining card make up for the difference if you visit often enough.
Gotcha. I think the Poly would probably be too expensive for us either way. And my plan is to buy a smaller contract and just bank or borrow to go every two to three years. I think that's probably all I can get my hubby to agree to. At least initially anyway. ;)

Park opens at 9:00?
Even without EMM I wouldn't keep that.
First, you'll have to battle the folks there for rope drop if you aren't getting in till that close to 9:00
Second, you are missing an hour of the lowest crowds of the day sitting in a restaurant.
A pre-park ADR is really only beneficial if it's an hour before opening.
Otherwise, I would not do it

yes they do still offer it. Bally-hoo Tour or something along those lines. As a guest at BWI you get the info on the activity calendar. I bet someone in the Boardwalk thread here can post a link to the recent one if you need the info on it

Wait wait wait, what is this? This is the first I am hearing of a walking tour at the Boardwalk! We have three non-park days to fill - I'd love to do that!

I was just thinking about how much I loved playing there! :(

I have an 8:10 AM reservation that morning! See you there!

OP would likely be able to get into the park as early as 8:15/8:30 and BOG will seat you as soon as you arrive, regardless of ADR time, if they have room. So OP could be seated early and still done around 9 (only takes us about a half-hour to eat there). So may not lose much park time at all. Though the effect of EMM guests remains to be seen....

I also have three SciFi Diner ADRs in our itinerary on three different days. I need to drop two but I am so undecisive which ones :sad2: Then I am also not sure if I want to keep the TH 6pm dinner or if I want to cancel it and bus over to Epcot so we can eat at the food stands there instead.
I finally ended up canceling a few of my extras once I booked FP. The extras were clogging up my itinerary...lol. I still have 1 extra F! Pkg but it is on our DHS day (we are most likely doing lunch but I have both lunch and dinner booked) so I'm keeping it for awhile.

Hopefully PP is aware and is planning on that. If they don't go till 8:50 it won't be good, IMO.

Another thing I have been wondering, what time do you suppose they would let us in? Any guess?

I have heard they basically let everyone with a PPO opening in at the same time at BOG.Not sure if this is still true. I would probably try to show up earlier and see what happens. Not sure if there are limits at the main gate as to how far in advance of your ADR they allow you in.

Hardly off topic for this thread but same here. DS4 loved it last year. Me, not so much because I was trying to follow him everywhere.
