Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Your plan makes sense to me. Thanks for posting Josh's thoughts.
I don't see people who pay extra using valuable ride time to eat waffles. Probably a good chance Pinocchio Village Haus is going to be swamped with guests getting into long lines between 9:30 and 10:00.

That was my thought - if I were buying into EMM, I'd wait as long as possible to go eat. If everyone else does the same thing, that might be a really frustrating breakfast.

Good morning Loungers!
This morning's hootenanny brought to you by Emo-Eponine...

"On my own, I've read and watched and waited
For some news that's scant and so elusive.
When the Riiiivers of Light will fin'ly open,
And I can book a fastpass, or perhaps a dining package.

In the blogs, the comments are so plentiful.
Their remarks with witty candor showing,
how us loungers grow tired of simply asking...
when and where and how and just release the schedule pleeeease!!!

And I knoooow it's only a few daaaays, till we reach 600 pages.
How our hooooootenanny grows each passing daaaay,
while we wait, an' commiserate.

The Riiiivers of Light will finally open,
and on that night will be some fierce rejoicin'
And from Maggie we'll hear some helpful news then.
I just can't wait, my vacay is so sooooooooooon!

I just heard... it's delayed.... till May.
So glad I'm lounging heeeere!"
So fun! If we can get Lea Salonga to sing this on the Greatest Hits of the Rivers of Light Lounge album it would be perfect. :rotfl:

No, they don't have any restrictions in place on foods. They have such a wide variety of food in the park that they sell that it would be just about impossible for guests to bring in some ingredient that isn't already there.

True. I know our local zoo doesn't sell certain ice cream and popcorn anymore but you are right, AK has a vast variety of foods and ingredients in park already so it would make no sense.... guess I just transfered from what I was used from our zoos.

Yeah, Disney is the only place I've ever been that allows food to be brought in. All other theme parks I'm familiar with provide picnic areas instead. But they are outside the parks

We have no idea... it stinks to be the guinea pigs for that first day, doesn't it? Josh at EasyWDW doesn't think it will have a noticeable impact: "The event’s effect on “regular” guests should be minimal, although it remains to be seen how many guests are admitted and how they behave. It would make the most sense for those taking part to hit the open rides hard from 7:45am – 9am, perhaps pop on something else in Fantasyland once it opens at 9am, dine from 9:30am – 10am, and then continue elsewhere after that. A guest doing that would not affect waits much for those entering from the main entrance."

My plan for that day was already to head to SM first and then other Tomorrowland attractions. If I had plans to head to Fantasyland that morning, I would keep them, but with a back-up plan in case waits are too high when you get back there.
Unfortunately, My plan was to head to PP first on the Tues I was going to MK. So instead, I dropped my Buzz FP and picked up the PP one. Will go to Buzz at RD and hope the other fantasyland attractions are too crowded later.

Good morning loungers!

Thought i would share a funny story, knowing this group would appreciate.
Thanks to you all, I signed up for the TP reservation finder for bog in September (you may know that there were no bog reservations available after 6pm for all of September). Even though I signed up, I still stalked almost constantly. Because, you know, that's what we do.

Yesterday I was at the dentist mid-cleaning when my phone started dinging like crazy. I thought it might have been bog opening up and I was right! I kindly asked my hygeniest to sit tight for a minute while I booked them. Felt very glamorous wearing my paper towel necklace thingy LOL.
But I got em! :yay: :flower1:

I am rooting for all of you who are making ROL-alterna-plans to get a little pixie dust from somewhere too!
Congrats!

As somebody who has to actually fill out the forms for special diets I'm hoping this isn't true. My ds and I have some very unusual allergies. BTW I only bring small snacks never full meals.

I always thought AK had that restriction because of the animals? Most zoos around here have that rule because people had fed God knows what to the animals even though they were not supposed to. With just in-park food allowed they can at least control would could end up in an animal's habitat....

Current restrictions around animal kingdom Glass, straws and those little straws on Juiceboxes are not allowed its all those little pieces that get into habitats that can be very dangerous to the animals. And balloons.

I know the phone CM's aren't always correct, but when I called for more information, she said breakfast will be served "in waves" starting at 9 am but I didn't think to ask how that'd work. I wonder if perhaps you're assigned "9 am, 9:30, 10:00 breakfast" at check in? No way to know until the first report back though..

Look into it. The new one is even more amazing. There are some great photos on instagram etc that folks have gotten so creative with. Wish I had more time to dedicate to it.

At the parks everyone stops me and asks about them! CMs stare at me.

AND I can see over construction walls ;)

Whoa! They don't equate this to a "selfie-stick" and ban/disallow it? Wish I had one of these instead of the gopro I never use..

Interesting! If they assign breakfast times, I'd be a little peeved to have paid extra just to be assigned to eat during my "exclusive ride" time. (Using "I" and "my" in general terms - I am not doing EMM myself.)

They allow sticks/grips as long as they don't extend.
But rather than deal with the questions/examinations by security we just pocket our grip

Do any of you know if they still do the morning walking tour at the Boardwalk? We have 4 WP days and thought that may be something fun to do before hand. THNX

yes they do still offer it. Bally-hoo Tour or something along those lines. As a guest at BWI you get the info on the activity calendar. I bet someone in the Boardwalk thread here can post a link to the recent one if you need the info on it

Looking for opinions. My last day of my Disney vacation is 4/26 and we are spending it at MK. Of course that happens to be the first day of EMM. I have a BOG res for 8:50 that morning. Do you think there is any value in keeping that? My original thought was that we could at least get in the park early and maybe get some nice non crowd pics (like my profile pic). However we would be eating at prime rope drop time instead of getting in a line. Just wanted to hear some thoughts and suggestions on this. :)
