Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

OMG. You guys are off the charts hilarious today. :rotfl2:And as usually, I'm pages and pages behind.

That is awesome, I would even go to the AK just for that on my April trip! if timing worked.

It could be on one of the FT patios ...

Come Celebrate the Non-Dining Package for the Non-Preview event for the Rumors of Light!! :flower1:

With a wonderful view of the RoL water and empty seating .... might even include a sneak preview of the the work being done on the technical difficulties. We could wave to them and maybe they would wave back.

We bring LOTS and LOTS of glow sticks that we can wear and wave through the air to create our own light show!!

Kids could run with them in the air and we could all guess at what images they are making.

Better yet bring lots of water misters and we spray them as the kids run through, it will be stunning ... or better than nothing.

We need some clear cups with fancy drinks and glow cubes so the show will extend to the "water" in our cups. Like a front row preferred seat.

Folks can buy FT to eat and pretend that it's a dining package but costs less than because obviously our view is the backside of water and should be discounted.

I bet we could pull this off faster than Disney could! ::yes::

PS ~ NO ADR, FP+ or CC Guarantee needed, just a sense of humor.

LOL @HopperFan!! Thank you for the entertainment (since Disney ain't providing at the moment).

Yes, this is known as the "monster thread" :))

We need to include The Monster Mash in the Rumors of Light soundtrack. Whoever complies the list, don't forget that and Jenny!!

Awwwwww, so cute! Congratulations.

@tinkerhon , I see your Fleetwood Mac and I raise you an Adele!

Yes, but isn't Adele going to make us all cry?

Yes, all of the DVC villas are on the 5th floor in Jambo House because when they started building DVC there they converted one entire floor of hotel rooms. Now that the trees have grown sometimes they hide the animals from that floor. We personally prefer Jambo House over Kidani but don't usually book savanna view rooms (we usually book std. view as we have had hit & miss views on the Uzima and Arusha savannas and we don't really spend all that much time in the room). I have heard some say they have better luck with views when requesting a room on the Sunset savanna. I don't know anything about the Pembe savanna except that it's on the Kidani building.

thanks!

Night Safari isn't anything special. It's just the same ride as Kilimanjaro Safaris, but at night. And the evening hours have not been extended yet.

BOG reservations are cutting off at something like 6 for all nights in September. That also seems to be the case with other restaurants inside MK.
Oh contrar it's different. It will use giant screens to replicate the sunset and I've heard it's very realistic.

I cannot speak for Jambo but I can speak for Kidani so I thought I would share, Stay as low as you can and as close to the lobby as possible. They keep food close to the lobby to keep the majority of the animals there for the grand "wow" moment when visitors first walk in and look out the windows in the back. I was just there in October and I was in the middle of one of the "U"s at Kidani and we barely ever saw animals, it was so sad considering how much we paid for a savannah view, the animals came to the feeders near our window in the morning (early) and late at night. Cannot speak to mid-day as we were not usually in our rooms during this time, we were also on the 4th floor as my dad wanted to be up high and it really made what animals we did see seem far away, I would have much preferred to be on the 2nd floor and be closer to the ground level

Thanks! Unfortunately Jambo is only up on the 5th floor so hopefully we will have some animals to see up there.

Appreciate the response

RoL is the main problem right now it's just not ready.

So, given the possibility that they may not pull it together by the time I'm there (and I've kind of processed that possibility at this point), what are your thoughts on what they will do if it's not ready for 4/22 (Earth Day/anniversary)? Do you think they'll still have evening hours and the other nighttime stuff going on?

I buy the Target gift cards (15% off with the red card) then deposit them in my Dis Vacation Account. Then I use that to pay off the trips, tours, etc , and they will give you a bonus of $20 for each $1000 you spent. I know there are some who have this down to a science, (it's called "churning" and is the subject of a whole lengthy thread...) but this is as far as I go with it. I just got a bonus gift card for $80 I would not have had from DVA, for using those funds I had accumulated there for our upcoming trip. Not a TON of money, but every bit helps!!

I get the Disney gift cards at Target with my red card (debit) 5% discount. They sell the $25, $50, and $100 cards at my Target, so I get the $100 ones and take with me to use on meals, souvenirs, etc. Haven't used the Disney Vacation Account. I know when they first started it, there were some problems but it appears to be up and running well now.

I don't really know... If RoL isn't ready I don't think they would still do nighttime hours on the 22nd.
