We managed to get through Sandy without any damage, just lost power... and last night our basketball hoop came down on my husband's car! He is so mad! He just got this car a few months ago after having his last car for almost 15 years.... (I finally convinced him to get rid of it...) He loves this car - I feel so bad...

I'm so sorry to hear that, good luck and I hope it's nothing like Sandy as we were 7 days. 7 was good for my neck of the woods, some people about 2 miles down the road on the really back roads were 2 weeks without power.

Thanks! At least no one was hurt... (That's what I keep reminding him.) He has 2 dents in the roof... so that's his project for tomorrow - getting his car looked at and dealing with the insurance company. Never a dull moment.

We are going the 24-30 of May and I cancel a dinner at BOG that I booked at 180 days out when I was able to snag a lunch just this past Tuesday - just trying off and on all day long I did it for 24 hours except for when I was sleeping lol and it finally worked - don't give up something will open up! Now ROL I am not so optimistic about

This is encouraging!! I had to change around my park days and am also currently checking constantly for another BOG breakfast since I will have to drop the perfect one I had made months ago

Touringplans has a fee (Less than $10 for a year subscription) but they have a dining reservation finder tool! https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder

The only flaw I've had with it is it will find an ADR for like 9:30 pm dinners when that is too late for my 4 year old, but it has been excellent at finding breakfast and dinners for me! I've gotten a BOG lunch with it, a 5:55 Tusker House dinner, and gotten an earlier BOG breakfast time with it! You have to be quick though, I got a text something was available but didn't see it for 15-20 minutes because I was driving and missed it.

We lost part of our roof last night in this wind! Had to unload half of the stuff that was in our attic in the midst of it because it was raining at the time and soaking everything. Now if only the wind would STOP so we can get the roof water-tight. It's going to start raining tomorrow morning.

The good part of the roof coming off...Waiting for ROL seemed insignificant compared to losing our roof and being awake almost all night. I didn't care about ROL at that point.

So sorry about your roof. Sounds like a scary night, but glad you are all okay.

We were sort of "middle of the pack" for the Sandy outages in our area. We live a mile or so out of a small town and the night of Sandy, that town looked like it was shooting off fireworks -- transformers were exploding everywhere. Of course it wasn't long until the whole area was dark. Most places were out of power for at least 2 days. The road next to us had power back by the 2nd day. It was pure torture to be standing in a dark house and look out the window and see the "country neighbors" had power but we didn't. There were a few areas around us that were without power for 11 or 12 days. Thankfully it wasn't cold out when that happened and once Sandy was out of the area, we didn't really have bad weather for a few weeks either. I can remember taking my kids to a dentist appointment about a week after Sandy hit and I still had to drive around downed trees and wires on some back roads. Thankfully, other than a few trees needing to be straightened and staked, we didn't have any property damage. We were very fortunate and it breaks my heart to see some people still trying to recover from that storm.

I got a text from the power company this afternoon telling me power would be restored by 3:00 tomorrow afternoon -- possibly sooner. A few hours later I got a text telling me power should be back on by 10:00 tonight. When I went to pick up dinner, I noticed they were working on the downed pole on our road so I was confident we would have power by 10:00. It actually came back on about an hour ago. Wahoo!!!!

You don't have to subscribe to use the dining finder, and it doesn't actually make the reservation for you, it just notifies you that there is one available. The other sites either made the reservation or charged money and as such were forced to stop.

Been away for a couple of days. Starting to think we know whether this opens on time by April 15th at the latest. That's usually when the hour updates are. I get the feeling as the days go buy it's all buy over on there being a delay. It's just how long of one. The cast members on the phones must be very tired about this by now. I have empathy for them.

If they are planning on moving A&E, any word on who might be replacing them at PFH?

Over dozens of trips and hundreds of ADRs I have never, EVER had to pay a no show fee. You can have all the hard to get ADRs you want and still remain flexible. When you become to rigid, you set yourself up for failure. That goes for just about anything in life.

Look at the top of any social or professional organization around.. they are filled with people who had a goal and a plan to achieve that goal. BUT, the ones who truly succeed are the ones who still find success when they have to trash that plan on short notice.
