Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Well considering Universal just bought that massive amount of land and will probably build another park, Disney better start fixing all those things, cause Universal is about to get into Disney thinking.

Another day with no dining packages and no baby. Sigh. I ate an entire pineapple last night with hopes of moving things along (with the baby, not the dining packages, although whatever works) but nothing.

We're seeing our friend tonight, the one working on the show in production, so I'll see if I can squeeze any more info out of her.
Having another baby is an excellent way to pass the time prior to the packages opening up. Next, try spicy foods and jumping jacks. ;)

I had a thought...

Do you think Disney will premiere RoL and then add the dining packages after? So, dining packages won't be available to book until after 4/22?

Last I heard was dining packages started 5/1 but I don't remember where nor if it's true. Actual date you can book... who knows. Probably the day of ADR only. :p

I'm hoping I'm 100% wrong, but I have a feeling the ADR's will appear either a few days prior to 4/22 or after 4/22. Why? Because it's Disney and they can do what they want.

Here's a live look at what Maggie is up to today...

I'm sure if Disney doesn't want my money for a package (we're paying for meals op) UNI will be happy to take it when we head to Diagon Alley
Well for one whole day, Universal is getting our dollars. My husband and I love it so we're going, just the two of us! :lovestruc

Perhaps Maggie would like one of the seats on the edge of the pond. ;)

nwahahahaha aka disney employee retirement package

no offense to employees, laughing with you, still hemmoraging $$$$$ here after DH recently went thru a 7 month lockout at work involving pension issues.

no, i didn't cancel my already planned disney trips, priorties were in order lol.

Except I think the food at 3 Broomsticks is better than Leaky Cauldron. The later tries to be British so hard but fails miserably if you ask me.

I'm not a good judge, I love both. I think one of my favorite things about both wizarding worlds is all the different candy and food and drinks they designed just for the wizarding world.

Wouldn't that be something if they said only those on the Disney Dining Plan are elegible for the ROL package?
No way do they do this

I've got a weird idea about Rivers of Light and when it's being offered. This is total Speculation on my part. I wonder if due to the cutbacks across the parks we are only seeing this at peak times such as (June-August, Thanksgiving and Christmas). The times of year when the parks need the extra capacity of a night time show the most. This continues until Avatar opens and then it permanently becomes year round. There are things that are only opened seasonally such as Tomorrowland Terrace, so this isn't in the real of possibility. It would be a massive mistake in my view, but that can explain why we're not getting April or May updates yet.
No I give that no chance of being their plan

Yes, sadly I do think they will add the dining packages later

We still haven't been there yet - this was going to be the trip then we decided to push it off until next trip...sounds cool!
We aren't going till DGD is tall enough to ride everything, probably 2 more years

Universal getting our money 2 days this year. We are usually on the dining plan at Disney, so we only eat lunch at universal and dinner once we get back to Disney. This year we are paying OOP, so we're hitting some city walk places for dinner. If universal extends that buy 2 get one free deal into September, they would have got 3.

You (and anyone else planning more than a day-trip to universal) might want to look into staying on Universal property. We've done Disney/US split stays three times and loved them. If you stay at a deluxe universal hotel Express Passes are included for everyone in the room, including checkin and checkout days. You get early entry to one park, and two of the three deluxes (Hard Rock and Royal Pacific) are walking distance from both parks. Plus you'd be saving time and money going back and fourth from a Disney hotel multiple times. Even with the perks, universal deluxes are much more affordable than Disney deluxes (I think the costs are comparable to Disney mods).

Regardless, food on city walk is fantastic! My favourites are cowfish (the bento boxes are fun) and vivo (great pasta). (now I'm wondering if/how we can fit a quick trip over into our short Disney vacay...)

ETA: I don't know what happened to the quoted post, but I meant to be responding to wdw4rfam's post right above mine.

Same here. We were initially going to try to squeeze in two Universal days on this trip, but decided to wait until DD6 is a little older. We also want to stay on property when we finally do go to Universal. We have a split stay planned for this WDW trip (AoA/Poly), and we weren't too keen on the idea of switching to a third hotel or giving up either one of the WDW hotels as it will be our first time at both.
