Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

We were all set to try it then when I spoke to our TA about it, and I told her that our kids couldn't handle EE, she suggested I wait. At the same time, my friend returned from a split trip with her 4 kids. The youngest was too little to go on much, and her 11 YO wouldn't go on anything - they enjoyed the HP stuff, but she felt like it was a lot of $ for 1/2 her kids not to really be able to do rides - sooooo, we decided to wait!

@beesly , yes, we definitely want to stay on-site when we go to Universal - I can see where that would be a lot of changes! We like spit stays too! This time around it's WL and AKL! We love the poly - you're going to love it!

That was our experience too. Both our travel agent and my brother and sister in law said they really didn't feel there was enough for young kids. SIL and bro said they enjoyed HP but wouldn't be going back until their youngest is quite a bit older.

My trip is April 9-16 so that Friday will be my only shot at one of the RoL Events.

How quickly does everyone think the 4000 tickets for Friday will sellout? Minutes? Hours? One Day?

Also, since there are 2 RoLs why aren't they selling 4000 tickets for EACH show?

And why is "EMH" mentioned?

Does this mean PM EMH is coming back at DAK?

Thanks!:)

:offtopic: We just got the call from the school district that we have a snow day tomorrow - first full day of spring and not a flake on the ground. Ugh! Cutting into my summer! Hope we get some good news from Disney and I can nail something ROL related down!

I don't think anyone knows how quickly it will sell out or why only 4,000 tickets. My guess is that it will be fairly quickly! Someone (can't remember who) speculated that there are probably a lot of VIPs and such that are invited for the 15th. There's someone on the thread whose DH has a ticket already guaranteed, so maybe the 4,000 is just what's allotted for the public? I think if you stay on top of things - and goodness knows we have a lot of eyes keeping watch here! - that you have pretty good shot!

I think that EMH was just mentioned by people that used to enjoy them in AK and look forward to a return to nighttime activities there!

Not sure if many others talked about it, but I mentioned it just in the context of having enjoyed AK at night in the past during late EMH, and looking forward to being able to see it at night again. If they add back late EMH, I know we'd use them! :)

Eesh!! We've had 1.5 days of that so far... and I'd say 0.5 was necessary. Annoying. We were supposed to have 1-2inches of snow today... turned into just a bit of rain and I managed to get in my 8mi running!! :)

I hope it turns out to be not much snow.ROL watching is tricky enough, no complications, please! :D
It's time for spring. I can't wait to visit Epcot and see all the pretty gardens. :butterfly:flower2::rose::daisy:
Can we hope for some good information tomorrow, maybe book soon?

I'm good for Tues during the day, but Tues night and Wed I'll be out and about. I will have my phone, so I'll check our helpful thread if I don't hear anything before then. The dining # is already in my favorites just in case. :)

So do you think the 4000 will be allowed to see BOTH of the RoLs that Friday?

Now that they've called off school we probably won't have any! I probably shouldn't have told the kids - they will probably never go to sleep! Good for you for getting your run in, @MickeyMinnieMom !

I'm ready for spring too! I do enjoy a good snowday and I know March is tricky, but I felt like we were out of the woods at this point! The crocuses and all the flower buds are not going to be happy! I'm really looking forward to all the pretty flower gardens too! Loved that last year - it was our first time going in April! :flower1:

Thanks!

I'm no expert on these things, but my guess would be no? But who knows?! I think it would be more likely that the Friday premium preview just has less public tickets because there are more VIPs, so the two shows would fill up that way. But again, I'm definitely not the expert in these kind of things - I'm just along for the ride and hoping for a preview party on the 17th, lol! Hopefully soon!!

my guess for the first preview night is that there is only one show. Have they actually said there will be two? I may have missed that part

I believe the HUB post did say 2 shows.

Yes there are 2 on all three nights. I think I agree with a lot of PP's conjecture, I think there will be a lot of media and VIPs in attendance that night, I think that will make up the rest of the bulk of people in attendance.

I know I'm late to the Disney Nature portion of the thread but I have to share my gator story.

Last year one of my cats got out and half the neighborhood was helping us look for him. Someone ended up finding him near a pond down the end of a street, and our neighbor parked his truck with the headlights shining on the pond so we could see better. The stupid cat was terrified and kept trying to run away, ending up with DH in the pond wading around trying to grab the cat. We kept hearing this weird grunting noise but didn't think too much of it. The neighbor finally moved his truck over to shine his lights on a different part of the pond, and when he did his headlights swept over two full size gators whose private moment was being very much interrupted. About three feet from DH. Who was in the pond with no quick escape. Thank goodness the gators were apparently having way too much fun to move, because DH managed to back up and get out without being eaten.

Incidentally we lost the cat somewhere in the chaos of avoiding the amorous gators, but arrived back at our house to find him sat on our porch, licking his paws like nothing had happened.

Weather in March does tend to get crazy. I'm in GA so we sometimes get our only snow in March. This month has been very nice thus far. This past week we were in the 80's! Dropped to 61 high today and tomorrow with mid 30's for lows but it's back up to 77 in a few days. So happy to be able to get my boys outside! I was so winter depressed.

Unexpected ROL stalking snow day complication...not sure if I will be motivated to get up for the "early shift"...
We will be up early, so I'll check at 4-5, and again at 7 eastern. JMO, I really think they will give a heads up before booking opens. The have mentioned the parks blog a billion times. I could be wrong though, so I'll be checking online, too. Will post anything of note.

Oh and more importantly, our friend didn't have a whole lot of info on RoL. She said 4/22 is pretty set in stone as the opening date, and whether they're ready or not, the show will go on! She was so exhausted, they're working really long days to get everything ready, and it does sound like the show will be fantastic (should any of us ever get to see it.)

Guys....

No more Disney in April. :(

I'm slightly bummed, but we got a call today that DH's very best friend from childhood (his best man) is going to be in Boca Raton the weekend of our trip, and DH pretty much got on his hands and knees and begged if we could skip Disney and go spend more time on the beach with his family. I definitely couldn't say no. So, we cancelled everything (it's so painful pressing the cancel button!) and we're booked 4 nights in Boca (actually it's Deerfield beach), and our remainder of time in the Melbourne area.

So, we're totally beaching it up!

Anyway it's a long 254 days till Disney. :(

(Almost teary, but this is for my husband and his very best friend. At least we're still in Florida!)

But I'll carry on with this banter, because it's fun! :P
