Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

/
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I feel the need to vent. Why is Disney making it so difficult? For all they do right, they've really dropped the ball on new events. It's one thing to promote a new event, but get it together. I was so excited for ROL...and to pay for a potentially overpriced meal just to get seating for this show. Planned a special weekend trip to see it (more money --- see a theme Disney? I'd like to pay you!) but considering the trip is 6 weeks out and I have no idea if I'm going to be able to see it, I'm starting to doubt whether it's worth it.
Of course if it's released tomorrow, all will be forgiven. :rotfl:

I hear ya. And I think Disney is toying with us on purpose too when they do things like release a new story on their blog about the costumes made for ROL....knowing if we see anything on there pertaining to ROL we are going to think it's the "official" thing only to realize that they are only talking about costumes....Disney no one cares about the costumes we want dates and times lol!!

Because the anticipation of it is great and we've all been waiting for Disney to announce everything.

Saw this on the Restaurant Rivers thread...
Unofficial info on possible Soft Openings...

http://ridevine.io/2016/03/10/source-confirms-rivers-of-light-soft-opening-more-details/

Interesting! April 22nd is about 5 weeks away, right? So soft openings 3 weeks before would be in about 2 weeks. I think it's very unlikely the show will be ready to perform at that point, but we'll see. I could see Cast previews happening a little earlier, just because Cast are less likely to complain if things go wrong or the show gets cancelled half way through.

All updates are interesting!

Or they don't do it in public or on forums or an open FB or Twittter because they will get scolded by their manager when someone else complains.

Learned that the hard way - when I worked at the Disney Store we got to see the first or an early preview of Aladdin. I commented on my FB how they had made no changes from the critiques of the show's pre-Broadway run in Toronto - the problematic things were still there and seemed implanted. Another CM told our manager I had been critiquing it, and I got called into her office and lectured. NOTE: I did not say it was bad. There were some good things (most of them having to do with Genie), but most shows use out of town critiques to make changes rather than repeating them on Broadway.
