Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Hi everyone! Thought I would come out of "lurking" and say hi (this is my first post). I have been following this thread from the beginning and am still hoping to get lucky with Rivers of Light through this thread! I have not been to Disney World in over 15 years and this is my husband and son's first visit (he is 5). I am 25 days out from arrival and leave Disney April 24. I love planning things but I really want some answers on Rivers of Light! If it is going to be pushed back for some reason, I just want to know! I really hope to get a chance to see this show but the checking every day is getting old quick. I am so grateful for this thread though and just wanted to chime in! :)
:welcome: Welcome to the insanity!!! I hope you get a chance to see the show!! You must be so excited to be going back to WDW afterv15 years, and to share it with your husband and son for the first time!!!

It most certainly did show April 22 as an opening date as of yesterday.
Maybe they are finally deciding on a course of action and can let us all get on with our bookings.

Well at least the bar next door still has an April 22 date posted online
:drinking1Find specialty cocktails and wines from far-off locales like Africa and Asia at this elegant retreat next to Tiffins restaurant—opening April 22, 2016.

I wouldn't be surprised if both the April and May Calendar get updated on Friday. It seems like they get the Calendar updated on the Friday closest to the 15th. I just want to know show times at this point. Don't care about packages. Just want to try for FP + for the show itself.

If they postpone dining packages and only offer FP+, I hope that one doesn't get online until we hit our 30 day mark (yes, we are staying offsite). Otherwise I'd be majorly po'ed because I know for sure we'd never been able to snag one of those then!

A couple of days ago I got my passholder update email that said "coming summer 2016" for Tiffins but still had April 22nd for ROL. Just to make it more unclear.

On a completely unrelated note, we're passholders and have never received neither email updates nor the Monitor newsletter... :confused3

Forget "ROL" and let's get to the more important issue ! Did anymore speak with Maggie today ??'

I'm thinking of calling just to ask for her --- she DID sound like a sweetheart --- I mean, you have to love her
"Honesty" ---

The entire conversation had to be cute and annoying at the same time !!
Maggie is off today but never fear. Billie Jean is filling in for her. I didn't even ask if she had any more info. I'm pretty sure the answer was "no" anyway. She didn't seem like someone who would be in the know. I just told her it was my daily phone call inquiring.

Chiming in with another outsiders perspective:

I only get to visit the parks every two years or so. Last time I visited was literally days before the SDMT opened up. When walking around the MK, they were running the train, I could even see cast members (I assume) on it doing testing/CM soft opening of some sort. But my whole time there they never opened it up for everyone, either for previews or soft opening. Was I disappointed? Yeah, I would have liked to ride it. That said, I knew I was coming back within a few years so I didn't let it eat away the magic of that trip. It was awesome! I got to be an extra on Indiana Jones, I got to ride Star Tours a zillion times in a row with no line, I got to relax on the porch near Aunt Polly's during a light rain storm in a rocking chair watching the poor tourists across the way getting wet with no raincoats. Point is, I knew the attraction wasn't going anywhere and would probably still be there on my next visit.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in everything (not helped by Disney's insistence on planning) that we don't see the forest for the trees. I really hope that ROL will be be open in May when I visit the same way I hope the new Frozen attraction will be up and running. But if it doesn't happen, they'll all still be there waiting next time I stop by.

Good for her !! Probably out frolicking --- I'm thinking a little relaxing on Discovery Island --- dinner at "Soundatage", followed by a little nighttime fun at the "Adverturers Club"

Well said. If one wants to absolutely ensure they experience a new show/attraction, perhaps the wisest move would be to schedule a trip 6 months AFTER its anticipated opening.

Well if it does all get pushed back due to whatever reason they have for a delay, I hope it will at least tick off someone high enough for making it look like they can't get stuff ready and out when they want to. And I say that only because 4/22 was a date that Disney put out there, not us....right? All of this Disney construction since New Fantasyland days have seemed to drag by at a painstakingly slow rate and I fully believe that Disney can move faster to get projects completed in an acceptable time frame. It almost seems like they have ADHD and instead of focusing on a few tasks at a time and being able to finish what they start in a timely manner, they get distracted and start new projects without finishing the ones they have already started and then they can't get anything accomplished and we are left with a whole Disney World of unfinished construction projects and walls with vague timelines for completion. They have bitten off more than they can chew, or that is what it looks like to me anyways. Get it together Disney and for the love of Mickey Mouse give us some concrete dates and times for goodness sake. I don't care if ROL, TSMM expansion, Frozen, Soarin, Nighttime AK, Toy Story Land, Star Wars Land, Avatarland, and Disney Springs open in 3 weeks or 13 years but at least tell me a date lol! And would it kill you to update the park hours for summer? I mean its March and we all know MK is not going to close at 10pm so please go ahead and make that change too. Sorry but I have wanted to get that off my chest for a while now.. I feel better :goodvibes
