Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

It's bad enough that I can get solid plans for my trip 5 weeks from now but I am almost ready to book my Oct trip and without MNSSHP how the heck am I supposed to book ADRs properly?! The hours change too frequently for me to trust that. I am feeling really defeated lately about planning. If it wasn't something that they wanted, practically forced us, to do - then I wouldn't care! However, when I am essentially forced to plan my vacation 6 months out then LET ME PLAN!!!!

Not to just reconfirm everything everyone else has already said, but yeah, ditto. This sucks! We are 35 days away and I still don't have a damn plan for my AK day. Now I have my stand by plan, but we all know the hours are going to change and then I am going to have to scramble with the other 45k people who want to see the show on opening weekend. This experience (the cuts, increases, lack of information, etc) is the reason I am officially done with Disney after this trip. 5 trips in 3 years and I can firmly say we will not be back for a good long while. I'm so frustrated with the never ending cycle of drama and their inability to get **** together in a timely manner. Over it!

I am beginning to wonder if they are not confident about the April 22nd opening date. You would think at least extending the hours would be an easy decision.
Thats what I'm thinking but the should be sure about dates into May and June for everything by now, why not just give us a small bone HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have some useful (or frustrating) information to share.
I have a close friend who is a server and has worked for Disney for well over 10 years. She has gotten each position she has applied for at 3 different restaurants. She just told me this morning that interviews for Tiffins started late February and her interview was March 7th. She was told not to expect to hear back from them on the position until May 1st, and that they are not allowed to ask for any time off in June. So this tells her they will hire the positions early May, assume some time to give "notice" at current location, then start training for Tiffins in a week or two then opening in June. This schedule is just a guess on her part based on her past experience with changing restaurants at Disney.
So, if this continues as she was told then there is obviously zero chance Tiffins opens in time for the April 22nd ROL since they will not have hired one single server by then.
So maybe they are having second thoughts about opening up dining packages right away for the show since it might really burden Tusker House and Flame Tree for that first month? Who knows?
If she gets a call any sooner than May (saying she got the job or not) she will let me know, but they very clearly told her not to expect to hear anything before then at her interview.

Frustrated...YES!
Ready to book another trip after watching your kids have a magical time while there....of course you are.
That's why they get away with all this crap pn the planning end, we lack the willpower to say enough is enough.
And besides, keeping it in context, if that's the worst part of our day, we should count ourselves lucky.
That being said, I'm 39 days out and feel your pain.

We very much appreciate any and all tips. It could be those dates are accurate for all hires, it could be those dates are accurate for when they want to hire your friend.
Hopefully your friend will get the job. :goodvibes

We're going to both Disney and UNI this trip and after all the planning I have to do including getting forms to special diets way in advance we'll see how much time we spend in each next tip. UNI requires much less planning even with having to deal with their SD department. That's why we're going to try going to the darkside for the first time. Rant over

We have had lots of magical moments, there is no doubt about that. But I'm tired of the game honestly. We have a pretty nice Amusement park within an hour or two from the house. That plus the beach I think have me sold. I know they won't be little forever, but Disney is just piling on at this point, and I'm over it.

Thanks for the info. You would think they would have park hours updated and when FP+ will be available though. Or at least open dining packages for June and beyond.
