Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Since I was an active member of this board, I'm going off topic with this. I know a good deal about Disney planning, but nothing about APs. So I have the Kid size holiday package with 10 day PHs for both of us and MM. I was thinking about upgrading mine to AP for the discounts on food and merch and the free MM. How do I do this and do I cancel my MM now? Seriously clueless on this, but I think I could rack up on the shopping and dining discounts. Help please!

To make an AP worthwhile, you really need to do more than one trip (maybe a 10 day would qualify though!). What I do is to compare the cost of the PH (the cost on the day you would be upgrading, not what you paid - you get CURRENT credit for the bridge) then look at the cost of the AP - $800 per person for adults. Then when you think about your dining and what you would be spending on merchandise, decide if the 20% makes it a good deal. You probably would only need to upgrade 1 of your PH, since your traveling companion also can benefit from the discounts, and you really wouldn't need the MM anymore if you are happy with downloading the photos yourself.

To upgrade, you go to the guest services window - some say before you enter a park for the first time - and do the upgrade with them. You would want to cancel your MM before your trip, as there is no refund as part of the upgrade.

For us, since the restaurants offered on the AP really aren't where we like to go, other than a couple of the QS ones, I also get the Tables in Wonderland card - only one needed per party - for a 20% discount on food AND alcohol (AP doesn't cover the alcohol), and last year, that cost $150, but was well worth it for us, since we do not usually a dining plan. Paid for itself very quickly.

Hope this helps...

The price difference between a 10-day hopper vs. a platinum pass is about $298. Memory maker is $150, so that brings the actual price difference down to just about $150. Hmm... am I missing something?

:offtopic: and wrong coast but not gonna lie, this looks awesome. I would totally be okay to see something designed like this at WDW. I know they are rumoring where Ellen is for the GoTG gang, while I would love for Tomorrowland to be more steampunky. Probably lost cause since they are already going quite bold with paint.

No dates, just a place holder for now

So we know the package will be returning, at least at Tiffins.

We do not know when this will be available to book yet.

In your "uncommitted prediction" how long before you can book do packages -
- usually show up with the blue dates to that will be available to book
- actually open up for booking

Guess just trying to predict based on other packages when we think this might actually be a thing.

The blue dates will show up at least a day or two before you can actually book. But since this is a "new" offering, I expect we will see a placeholder on the Dining page show up first.

Was wondering if she feels like there is a more average time frame. I believe we saw several dates posted for Club Villain and other things way before they were bookable.

I mean as long as dates are up we will have an idea and those interested will check ever day anyway.

Well ... I'm lucky I go often, am less than 8 hours away, had not bought the MNSSHP tickets yet (since they weren't selling out I decided to follow the weather) and I was crashing in DS2 room - high school coach taking a team and looks like they might not be going now either.

It was the safest decision for us. I was traveling alone with DS1 who is disabled. I couldn't take the chance with him. Of course he doesn't understand why we aren't going and upset ..... I'm scrambling to get him there by end of month for a MNSSHP, his favorite holiday.

EVERYONE BE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug:
