Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

After many months of stalking, checking the blog, meeting all of you wonderful folks next Friday I'm going to see Rivers of Light, no wait Rumors of Light better know in some circles as the JB show. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: We have a TH dinner package, I feed 2 sons so it made sense to keep it and our PW fp overlaps. So we'll have time to see it, ride PW then KRR, EE fp and safari on the way out with any luck

not funny.... :sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

Seriously tho they were pretty quick on the draw with the JB packages but I can't remember the timing. I guess it was the day that showtimes/park-hours were updated.
They announced it like on a Friday or something and the packages opened the next day I believe!

I'm back to work tomorrow after a little more than 2 months off. So not looking forward to it. Summer Break is over. Boo...hiss!

Well, in the interest of just keeping rhis thread in the top, i'll report something totally :offtopic:

Im retired, and since i don't have a job to go back to, I'll tell you what i do all summer here in Minnesota. I raise and release monarchs.

So far, it's been a slow start, but I've successfully raised released 19 beautiful monarch butterflies, and currently have 11 eggs in the nursery, 16 caterpillers munching away on the milkweed from the field on our property, and 11 chrysalis that will emerge into beautiful monarch butterflies in the next week.

Life is good! Especially if i get to plan a trip to Disney at the same time!

Sounds like an amazing way to keep busy during retirement! How long have you been doing that?

This is my third summer...first year I accidently found a couple of tiny catepillars outside, and brought them in to raise. Last summer, I released 65. This year up until last week, has been slow - there was a big late winter storm in the Mexico mountains where they winter over, and many died before migrating back, so we haven't seen very many butterflies this year. But It seems that some of the girls (maybe some of the ones I released earlier) have been visiting and laying eggs...I found 15 eggs last Friday! We have 9 tiny new hatchlings20150610_083055.jpg 2015-7-28.jpg 20150712_110818.jpg this morning!

TOTALLY ON TOPIC since these beauties are quite the "show" in the "animal kingdom" :goodvibes

That is so cool. The kids once did one of the kits and it was so cool to watch them change. A couple times I've gone to Butterfly World in S FL by my Mom's and it's just fascinating. What a great way to start a Monday, I may have to read up on it.

Is it just my family or does AK feel hotter than the other WDW parks to anyone else?

We enjoyed our day last Friday, but it was hot ... until it rained and rained!

Unfortunately our 6:30 PM ADR at Rainforest Cafe became a 2.5+ hour ordeal. (On the plus side, the food was okay, but it was after 7 by the time we got seated and then the service was SO slow).

Consequently, we did not end up seeing JB or the other night time offerings. Ah well, there's always next time (in a year or so) ... Pandora should be open by then, and with any luck so will RoL.

The Rainforest Cafe saga doesn't sound good. :( Sorry you missed the nighttime stuff but yes, maybe they'll have ROL up and running at some point....at least by June 2017 (our next trip)!

A cast member explained to me that AK can be about 10 degrees warmer than any other park on the same day since the trees and environment hold in the heat like an actual rainforest would

I always wear the lightest colors and clothing to AK.

SO! Who can catch me up?! I've been MIA - crazy baby drama :) Hope everyone is well!

Yes, AK is a hot, sticky park. We usually only stay for a little while and are hoping Dec. will be much more comfortable there. Sorry you missed out on the nighttime activities and hopefully, it will all be available to you next time.
