Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

As soon as my statement drops, I'll call and order mine!

Just an FYI (and you might already know this) -- you could order the card right now. You only have to put $10 on it to get the card. It will take about a week for you to receive it in the mail. Then you can transfer the remaining balance to your card online or over the phone -- that's an instant transaction. I always only put the minimum amount on when ordering the card just in case it gets lost in the mail (or I lose it). I transfer the balance a few days before my PIF due date or the day before we actually leave for Disney depending on what I'm planning to use the rewards dollars for.

I miss how busy this thread was in the beginning. I am trying to avoid facebook for a few days with all the mother's day tributes. Its still a painful day for me as I lost my mom and really miss her. But I do want to wish all you moms out there a Happy Mother's day. Hope you have a fun day!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, dachsie. My mom is still around but I have lost my dad a few years ago. He was the Disney addict in the family. When we walked into MK for the first time the other day, I realized again just how much I miss him. I actually teared up in the Country Bear Jamboree when Big Al came up - he always was his most favorite thing about Disney...

How much did you have ? Are you talking about the chase card ? I just checked mine and have 166.00, I would rather have more but oh well its better then nothing.
228 and some change. Was going to just do 225 but figured what the heck. I put everything on that card and pay if off each month.

Thanks. She never got to go to DisneyWorld. Did do Disneyland when I was 2 tho. She had a car accident when I was 6 and had difficulty walking and would have NEVER used a scooter. That and we didn't have the money growing up. I went for the first time as an adult and would have loved to take her.

Oh I have a question for you all. If we take the bus to DHS, will we be able to catch the boat over to international gateway for rope drop so we can go to the French bakery for breakfast?

yes, I think the boats start running about an hour before park opening. You could probably walk it faster than the boats though, as after one finally shows up, they stop at Dolphin/Swan, Yacht Club, Boardwalk before going to the EPCOT landing. And the buses are closer to the walking path than the boat landing. It's easy to walk it in the morning, not quite as easy once you get tired after a long day!

Actually I didn't know this! Maybe I'll give them a call ASAP then!

Yes, definitely walk it! We took the boat today and it took forever! Fun fact, a guy missed the boat (his family was on it with us) and he greeted us at the international gateway. He walked faster from DHS than it took the boat to get there. we saw him walking alongside the boat and waving at us - it was pretty funny. The skipper made a fun game out of it. If you are pressed for time, walk. If you are not pressed for time, take the boat.

Do you know where? Online is definitely easier with little boys around that feel like they need to talk to whomever I'm on the phone with!

Do you have online access to your Chase Disney Visa account? You just click on the "Disney Rewards Program" (it's in bold blue lettering right below your account summary when you sign in to your account). Then click on "redeem rewards" (green typeface). Then click on "Disney Rewards Redemption Card" and it should walk you through the last step or two.

So I have to share this argh moment from today which actually ended in some pixie dust for us.

Back story. So my daughter has thing that when she gets tired, she just goes around telling everyone goodbye. I guess it comes from the fact that we say good night to the sun every night - who knows. It's quite sure though cause she will actually also shake hands with everyone and say goodbye to them.

So we were at Muppets 3D today and the CMs kept telling everyone goodbye on the way out. So my DD3 goes up to everyone and shakes their hand and tells them "bye bye" in English (one of the few words we taught her). I didn't really think much of it until she crawled into her stroller and was out like a light. And we had lunch ADRs at Mama Melrose's like 15 mins later for the Fantasmic package! We checked in and asked if I could take in the stroller. They were super nice and gave us a table at the side so we could park the stroller. Since this is a package deal, I figured I was just gonna chalk it up and pay for DD3 even though she slept through it - she probably wouldn't have eaten much anyway. So my DS7 and DS11 ordered off the kids menu even though DS11 is technically a Disney adult. Our food was superb BTW! So when the check came around, our waiter told me he took DD3 off the package because she slept through it but he'd give us a F! ticket for her. I thought that was super nice of him, paid, left a nice tip and then we were on our way. When I checked the bill just about now while waiting for F! I noticed he had actually taken off the second adult which would have been for DS11 and had charged me for kids meals instead of a kid and an adult for my sons. I'm still a bit flabbergasted about that....

:offtopic: Thanks for all the support and positive thoughts, ROL friends! I truly appreciate it!

She had her EEG yesterday. She was able to sleep during it as needed, so that's good! You'll be happy to know that DH also slept like a baby through the whole thing! Hoping for results on Friday or Monday - hoping it was just a fluke/ 1 time thing as the pediatrician suggested. She was exhausted after the test - so was I - so she stayed home from school and we watched a movie, took a nap and went out to lunch!

First of all-- prayers for your daughter, yourself, and your family!! Hope everything is going well and she never seizes again!

My husband has paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (a movement/seizure disorder) and "mild" narcolepsy (hypersomnia) .. he can't treat the narcolepsy because it caused a break through tonic-clonic seizure and it was absolutely terrifying. But he is pretty much symptom free due to carefully controlled medication. It took forever for a diagnosis, but he is doing well now. I cannot imagine how scary it would be if it were our little girl--seeing my husband was scary enough. *hugs*

Yayyy @Paigevon I am so glad you had such a great trip! I'm totally in for a TR if you decide to do one. I got all worked up the first time we went about missing a few things, but that's what makes it fun when you go back.. seeing new stuff every time!
Thank you! Yes!! I had FP+ for MSEP that we didn't get to use so I was sooo bummed, but next trip it will be a priority! Especially now that DH realizes the night-time entertainment are not "just fireworks"!

So glad you had a good trip and your DH did too. I can't believe that I will finally be there next weekend. Yea!
YAYYY! Have a MAGICAL time!

So glad you had a great time and even happier your hubby got the bug...
I wish I lived close enough to make AP a solution.
I had both my kids down there twice before hitting the age of 4 and realized let them set the pace and do what makes them happy. Trips became so much more enjoyable when we finally figured that out. It may take you many, many trips to finally do 'everything' but what the heck, you have an AP now.
Yes!! Unfortunately busy schedules will make long trips hard--a 1 or 2 day trip to Disney seems like it would just be a tease! But I'm so grateful to even have that as an option so I need to shush my complaining! I found out I can make it to Disney in 2 1/2 hours, not the 4 I assumed, if I go very very early morning or very late night. ;)
VICTORY IS OURS!!! :jumping1:
It was SO FUNNY hearing him talk about Walt Disney and Roy Disney and then some of the extra perks and tours he wants to do! I was trying so hard not to have a big cheesy grin on my face. :D

So glad you're back! *hug squeeze* Sad that you're back at the same time, too, because Disney! :(

But we get to keep you now. :)

In any event, glad you had a WONDERFUL time! We missed you out here in our neck of the woods. But next time you'll have an even greater time, I can feeeeeeel it. Because RoL will finally be open, LOLOLOL.
Awwww thank you!! *hug*

BUT IT WON'T BE! :'( I'm kind of excited we will be catching Jungle Book in a few weeks, and then RoL for my birthday in September though! ^_^ .... well, it better be showing in September. Seriously. Disney, don't do this to me.

I have severe back problems and we only lasted the first few minutes. I literally couldn't sit there anymore. What a waste of a FP!
Oh no!!! My husband said it was the most amazing show he's ever seen.. you must find a way to see it. :'( Even if you rent a wheelchair at the end of the day for it??

I'm definitely in for the TR! Btw, did you guys do midday breaks? I'm just curious about your timeline bc I'll have my 4 yr old, my 2 yr old, and my parents over 65. I have made extensive plans but I am certain the plans will go out the window several times, however, I did schedule a midday break every day to alleviate some of the exhaustion....I hope.

Well, I *tried* a combination of mid-day breaks and afternoon arrivals.
In a nut shell:
Arrival day - dinner, then relax, planned to do campfire singalong and swim but thunder and lightening canceled them.
PS: We had a great experience at Whispering Canyon Cafe!
MK day 1 - PLAN: 8 am ADR at BOG (We got a pre-park 7DMT on an Early Magic morning BTW!) until 3 pm parade, then resort until about 7/8 and return for parade, fireworks;
ACTUALLY HAPPENED: everyone was melting in the unexpected 90 degree weather, even being "native Floridians" and we headed back at 2 pm. DD had an amazing morning, but even she was asking to go back to the cabin. We all napped, had dinner, and then she chose swimming over returning to MK. Still, the morning went so perfectly and it was a good evening! After DD went to bed, DH and I went back to MK but we didn't make it there until almost 11 for a 12 pm close.
Epcot day 2 - PLAN: 9 am RD until 12 pm Akershus lunch, return to resort, then come back for 6:30 pm Biergarten dinner and stay for Illuminations
ACTUALLY HAPPENED: I was the only one that wanted to wake up and get ready to be there at 9 am, so we ended up arriving just a little before lunch, it was very hot, and we left immediately after dinner.
AK plan was 8 am (EMH) to 6 pm with a 6:30 TH dinner -- went great!
HS was 1 pm - 9 pm (Fantasmic) -- went great! but DD was asleep as soon as she sat down in the car seat

Yes, this!! This is the way I always do it -- so easy, @ArielSRL. I sign in here: https://secure07b.chase.com/web/auth/#/logon/logon/chaseOnline, and do as @bluezy describes.

I've even done it from the browser on my phone when on the go! :thumbsup2

I wish I were closer to mine. My grandmother is more like my mother to me, she raised me, and I will be spending time with her tomorrow. I don't know how I am going to cope with losing her some day. *hug*

No worries - I have seen it!! Several times lol. I just couldn't get through it this time. Thank you for the thought though :D

I'm still a bit flabbergasted about that....

That is awesome! Last April when we went I was pregnant and I suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum throughout my entire pregnancy so I could barely eat. We did a Crystal Palace breakfast on our last day so I could get pictures with Pooh and our waitress must have noticed that I could barely eat. She cleared my DH's place several times and mine only once. She was kind enough to only charge me for a child's meal instead of an adult. I thought that it was so sweet of her. Some CMs are very warm and generous while others leave something to be desired!

I'm on the fence about purchasing memory maker for this trip. We leave in 17 days, so I need to make up my mind. My kids are 16, 12 and 9, and no longer interested in characters :( Our MM pictures would just be ride photos and those that I can manage to get everyone to stop for. We've gotten it every trip thus far, so I'm not sure if I'll miss it or not. Decisions, decisions.
We're just the opposite. We're getting it because it's included with the AP and we're going to upgrade our tickets. My dh and I both have decent cameras and the photographers have always been happy to snap a few with ours and we're not big ride photo people.
