Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I stayed up for midnight to do our FP's for our June trip. I was amazed as I was scrolling thru the choices that ALL of the slots for the MK princesses were GONE by 12:10. That's nuts! Glad we're not in the princess market! I was super frustrated with the site as it started wonking out on me as I was trying to do my 4th day. I kept getting messages to try again later. I was like "Are you kidding me? Don't you know what TIME it is?!" I piddled with it for another 30 minutes or so and finally gave up & went to bed (in a very frustrated state). I finished this morning from my phone when I first woke up. Disney IT definitely sucks eggs tho. Lurking here tho as I want to plan 2 evenings at AK for ROL & the night safari...booked placeholders for now.

RE: all those here with knee problems...you probably need better shoes. If you pronate at all when you walk your knees aren't straight as you walk which is likely why they hurt. They are twisting. I had (have) the same problem and my knees used to KILL me. DH used to threaten that he was going to put me in a wheelchair! I pronate and even had to get special custom fit footbeds in my ski boots and I pretty much had to stop wearing generic flip flops & sandals to the parks. Good sneakers made a WORLD of difference as well when we go to the parks. I recently discovered an orthopedic shoe store where they will custom fit me in sandals. I have a very narrow foot too so most flip flop straps are too wide and my left foot is 1/2 size bigger than my right. Podiatrists recommend some very stylish brands like Olukai, Vionic and Birkenstocks to help correct your feet. I just ordered a cute pair of Olukai "Ohana" flip flops from this orthopedic store (you can also get them at Nordstrom or online from Zappos or Amazon too) but since my foot is narrow I'm getting them from this orthopedic store because for an extra $15 she will custom adjust the straps to fit me. She also fit me to the right size - I always tried to fit my smaller foot but she said I need to fit my bigger one. The Olukai "Ohana" is one of the top recommended sandals for comfort and walking by podiatrists - they have great arch support. The soles will mold to your feet. Olukai has some super cute styles....look for them or the Birkenstocks. JM2C....

Sorry about your frustration with your FPs....I think many of us have experienced the results of the IT cutbacks over the last couple of years, and it's just not pretty. Seems to me, when they know that SOMETHING big is going to be announced, that the system would be modified to meet the demands. But experience has shown that not to be true. Remember the FREE DINING fiasco last summer and fall? OY!!

Thanks for your tips about shoes. They may really help some folks...but my "knee problems" are that I have no cushion left in my right knee - bone on arthritic bone. So it's only a matter of time until going under the knife. I have found that wearing shoes with good support really does help, tho. Between that and Advil, and the occasional injections, I'm doing pretty good. I just will never be entering any of the RUN DISNEY events! ;)

Dear fellow lounge members, I don't know why I can't wrap my brain around this properly (and the DIBB FP+ availability calendar is confusing me a bit too): If my park days are June 13th and 14th and I am staying onsite at the Poly, when exactly can I make my FP+ selections? Don't know why I can't figure out something that should be so simple. When I go into my MDE account, it only shows FP+ until early May, and the DIBB calendar shows FP availability through June 19th. I must be missing something, because I don't think I have to wait another month in order to book... Thanks in advance for the help!

If your first day onsite is 6/13 then the first day you can make FP+ at 60 days out is 4/14. At midnight on 4/14 you will be able to make FP+ for the length of your onsite stay.

April 14th.

And just to add to moobar25's post, remember that the time you can start making FP is 12 AM EASTERN TIME...if you are in a different time zone, it will be a different time for you. And don't hesitate to try a little BEFORE the specific time - I've read that sometimes it actually opens a bit early....

I don't understand the logic of folks like that. I mean, OK? Then don't go? No one is forcing you? Do you need a bucket for your salty tears?

It's not like they didn't know that it wasn't American cuisine--sorry not sorry that American food isn't the epicenter of all that is holy and great about food, cause it sure ain't. But if those comments come, can people follow behind them and troll? I'd enjoy it.

That's what I love about Epcot and AK - there is so much VARIETY in food. Seriously, I thought I was going to get bonkers when I checked to see where we could eat at MK - kid's meals are like chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and uncrustables only. Really? What's up with that? my kids are no picky eaters but c'mon, where's the variety? On the "downside" my kids don't like uncrustables as lunch or dinner (jam is breakfast food for us) and they do not like fried foods because I don't feed them that (or fast food - ask my boys when they've last eaten at any fast food place....) Plus, have you guys ever tasted the QS mac and cheese? :crazy2: They'll be thrilled by the F&G booths at Epcot. We always do Tusker House because the food is different. This trip we're gonna substitute TH with Sanaa. We've never eaten there but my kids are already thrilled about the menu.

Having said that - the Tiffins menu looks amazing! Okay, I take it back where I said the other day that I could care less if it's open during our trip or not. Now I wish it was open. Just looking at that menu makes me all hungry.

Yipee
Just got a ship notification from cafe press - my shirt has shipped and is estimated to arrive by April 8th (placed order on April 2nd).:yay: Much better than the original estimate of 14th or 15th.
However the buttons are still being made and will ship out separately. Maybe it takes more time because they're adding some bling to it.
Yippee!!! I got my notice too.

Thank you for that. My brain is automatically set to eastern time LOL

Honestly!

I know that while DBF & I were looking at menus before we had to book our ADRs, he kept on picking places with American cuisine (he honestly didn't know, he just read a small description and would pick it), so we ended up making sure that we got TH for the food variety. I'm not entirely sure what else we have that will be outside of the realm of American, unfortunately, but at least we have this one, Spirit of Aloha, Marrakesh, and Ohana! :D I'm OK with that!

I haven't actually looked at the menu for Tiffins, but I'm so excited for it and I wish that it was open for you on your trip! Why is your trip in 2 weeeeeeks! C'MON DISNEY HURRY UP.

They aren't available because supposedly Anna & Elsa are moving over to Epcot in Norway for M&G. Aurora & Snow White are supposed to move back to Princess Hall in MK. Rumor is June, but we all know how reliable dates Disney gives us are.......

This.

Is.

Wonderful.

I agree with the previous poster. When my FP window opened up the other night I was on at midnight and there were zero fast passes available for any princesses in June. Not just Anna and Elsa. Well for my dates anyway. Nothing. no princesses at all

I'm a glutton for punishment! I checked the site and as usual nothing. I'm sure I'm going to faint if anything ever comes out.
Sorry guys. I know the April and May folks are way past fed up by now. I have this crazy feeling they are stalking our thread waiting for us to hit 500 pages about nothing!

Wishing better news for all the Loungers tomorrow.
