Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Did my daily FP+ check for April 22. Still no safari FP+ past the 5:30 to 6:30pm slot. No new FP+ experiences either.

I'm also trying to change FP+ for April 14 and 15. Hoping FoF comes available for the 14th. And trying to find an earlier time on the 15th for A&E. I did have a 10pm to 11 that I was able to change weeks ago to 7pm to 8pm. But now we're eating at that time slot off property with friends.

What is this tape? I too have terrible knees - need replacement in one, and the other isn't too far behind, but they tell me I'm too young, and to hold off as long as possible...don't feel young with these knees! Injections work pretty well but if there's something else, I'm all for it!

It helped me a lot! You can get it on Amazon or at your local drug store. There are instructions on-line on how to put it on yourself, but I had a friend who's an athletic trainer put mine on - she did some kind of training on it. It definitely made a difference - when I put it on myself, it didn't do much, although it's also in a tough position on my foot to get it on correctly myself. Knee might be different. Also, not great for people with sensitive or delicate (for lack of a better word) skin...

It definitely takes quite a bit of trial and error to do it for yourself but it can be done. Like @TheFloatingBear said - I really couldn't get it exact like my PT did so I never was able to do it myself without feeling like I would mess up something so I would leave it on after she did it for as long as possible. YouTube is your friend though!

There's is an after hours event at AK called "Destination Sales", it looks to be for travel agencies and it says they will have a Rivers of Light presentation on April 19th
This is separate from the "Awaken Summer Preview" that is for press and bloggers, this event doesn't show that they will have access to Rivers of Light.
Basically, there will be 2 events on April 19th but not for guests to book.

Agreed - that's why I have my friend do it, as she's been trained. The place where I need it is also on the back of my foot/calf so it's kind of awkward anyway to even try to do it properly...I didn't do any damage the time I tried it myself, but I could tell pretty quickly that it wasn't "doing" anything and wasn't going to help...

This thread is on fire tonight. I went to hang out with my son for a bit and came back to 5 pages. I'm here for the midnight check. It's only 8:48 here on the west coast so I'll keep an eye on things to see if any changes.

We can all attend their wedding, which will be held when ROL finally debuts, in 2044. Her dress will be made out of the worn remnants of ROL Lounge shirts, and instead of flowers, she will carry a bouquet of buttons, enhanced with LED finger lights.

These are the little things that bother me .....

I posted a while back that I got hired to work Rivers of Light on the Operations side.

Today we had our Welcome Day. We got lots of details, and wow. This is going to be insane.

Between RoL and the Tree of Life coming awakening, DAK is going to wow lots of guests in years to come

And no. I will not give any detail on what I saw. Even in "confidence" I truly want to keep working at Disney."​

A RoL CM is just NOW having his Welcome Day where he was given details ............ what about training? It's new, it's not like existing with existing CMs and the tide of in/out. Pretty sure I read somewhere that CMs are already training for Frozenland and that is a month out from RoL. And honestly they are going to have to be trained in tactical maneuvers to handle the folks that will descend on this thing. RoL boot camp.

Presentation says to me someone speaking about something with props ........... not a preview showing of the show. Maybe I'm not reading into it right but this sounds like these events are not going to include the show.

I stayed up for midnight to do our FP's for our June trip. I was amazed as I was scrolling thru the choices that ALL of the slots for the MK princesses were GONE by 12:10. That's nuts! Glad we're not in the princess market! I was super frustrated with the site as it started wonking out on me as I was trying to do my 4th day. I kept getting messages to try again later. I was like "Are you kidding me? Don't you know what TIME it is?!" I piddled with it for another 30 minutes or so and finally gave up & went to bed (in a very frustrated state). I finished this morning from my phone when I first woke up. Disney IT definitely sucks eggs tho. Lurking here tho as I want to plan 2 evenings at AK for ROL & the night safari...booked placeholders for now.

RE: all those here with knee problems...you probably need better shoes. If you pronate at all when you walk your knees aren't straight as you walk which is likely why they hurt. They are twisting. I had (have) the same problem and my knees used to KILL me. DH used to threaten that he was going to put me in a wheelchair! I pronate and even had to get special custom fit footbeds in my ski boots and I pretty much had to stop wearing generic flip flops & sandals to the parks. Good sneakers made a WORLD of difference as well when we go to the parks. I recently discovered an orthopedic shoe store where they will custom fit me in sandals. I have a very narrow foot too so most flip flop straps are too wide and my left foot is 1/2 size bigger than my right. Podiatrists recommend some very stylish brands like Olukai, Vionic and Birkenstocks to help correct your feet. I just ordered a cute pair of Olukai "Ohana" flip flops from this orthopedic store (you can also get them at Nordstrom or online from Zappos or Amazon too) but since my foot is narrow I'm getting them from this orthopedic store because for an extra $15 she will custom adjust the straps to fit me. She also fit me to the right size - I always tried to fit my smaller foot but she said I need to fit my bigger one. The Olukai "Ohana" is one of the top recommended sandals for comfort and walking by podiatrists - they have great arch support. The soles will mold to your feet. Olukai has some super cute styles....look for them or the Birkenstocks. JM2C....

Just got a ship notification from cafe press - my shirt has shipped and is estimated to arrive by April 8th (placed order on April 2nd). Much better than the original estimate of 14th or 15th.
However the buttons are still being made and will ship out separately. Maybe it takes more time because they're adding some bling to it.

There's no real news this morning, but I just watched Melissa McCarthy lip sync "Colors of the Wind" on a video from The Tonight Show:

(It's the last song, but the whole thing is pretty hilarious if you have time to watch.)

That was awesome! I wish she could come to the Non-Preview Party! "Brand New Key" is a sentimental fave from childhood - I'll have that in my head all day!
