Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

To those who just got their days messed with do you have a touring plans subscription? they make personalized plans. A good plan can help somewhat. The cheat sheets from easywdw are also very helpful

I just came back from shopping at Aldi and they have this type of bread there. I wonder how it is. Of course, it's different without all the fancy dips, I'm sure.
Trader Joe's has frozen naan in plain, garlic, and at least one other flavor. Other supermarkets in eastern Mass. have it in fresh varieties, though I've never found it as good. Of course, fresh from an Indian restaurant is best. Various chutneys may be available either from an Indian grocery or the international section of a supermarket.

Of course, this all depends upon your area. Indian food is popular in the Boston area. At the Indian restaurants I frequent, naan is often served as an accompaniment to the main course, not as an appetizer.

Well, I feel better (not really, just not as crazy) knowing that other are having a similar reaction...I know EMH and hours change quite a bit, but is it usually this late in the game?
I think this has been a totally crazy shuffle.:crazy2: Once I gave up on ROL I figured we'd enjoy the Tea at the Beach Club on Sun. I was happy to see they extended it. We'll hit some booths at Epcot, and have an easy day. :daisy:

Does Disney typically switch EMH less than 30 days out?! And WHY switch a F/S one week and opposite the other--do you think they're adding those magical morning paid things to the days they switched over?! :scared:

No. I've been planning these trips, one to four a year, since 2005. I don't remember a time when they changed EMH days 20 days out from our trip. They certainly do change -- not entirely infrequently -- but not this late in the game. If it does happen a lot, then I've been lucky for who-knows-how-many trips now!!

P.S. Thank you to all for your sympathy and empathy with my freak-out on this. :grouphug: to everyone else also impacted for whom this somehow feels like a final straw for their April trip.

OK... where's that rum...?? :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

To Whom It May Concern:

I hereby resign my post as family vacation planner.

Sincerely,
Carolyn

P.S. Not my fault. Disney drove me to it. :headache::headache::headache::headache::headache:
And that is the hard part! We want to keep it organized, but it feels like someone keeps grabbing the chair out from under us. Whoops...and down we go.
At least we can commiserate here. :grouphug:

hmmm...TL looks so tropical, so that appeals to me, but BB just looks different from other water parks. I'm really hoping that we can do both. Someone that's been on this thread - I can see her avatar but can't remember her name - she said on another thread that her family just goes to the one whose bus arrives first! That's not a bad strategy!

Am I more likely to get seating in the shade at one or another? DH is a bit of a delicate flower... :flower1:

This thread moves so quickly!

My boys, at ages 12 & 13 enjoyed both water parks with a slight edge given to TL. I asked them both at the end of our trip after going to both and also after being chosen as Family of the Day at Blizzard Beach. I really thought the extra pixie dust would have given the edge to BB.

We're saving it for the release of ROL packages:cool1:

I have been for almost forever a koolaid drinking pixie duster. But some of what's going on is really driving me crazy! My boys talked us into to going to UNI this summer and APs were the cheapest route for that part of the trip. I'm still hoping we get to go to both next year but upgrading our tickets to APs isn't going to be cheap so I really hope the Disney portion goes smoothly or it's going to be Potter and beach time. Rant over

Oh I hear you. If the mayhem continues my plan B is to defect over to Potter land for a couple of days when we are there in July. We have not been to UNI since 2003, so this will be a dramatic move for this Disney family. :rotfl:

I didn't remember things changing this late, but I don't plan quite so many trips - we already had a change with HS not too long ago. I feel validated by your words! I agree that there may be more paid events coming soon - I think they're testing them out in April or something...

I too feel like it's the final straw. I've tried to keep positive with this trip and roll with the punches, because I have no alternative and I know that no matter what, it's still a blast, but I resent the dichotomy of needing to plan but then having those plans thrown out the window. So many metaphors...

I feel like I'm a game piece and someone keeps changing the board...

I think I might ask touring plans to notify me of changes, don't normally use that but seems as though everything is being messed around with. I've got a while yet but really feel for you April/may people.

Family of the day - so cool! What does that mean there?

This is kind of funny because up here in Ontario, you can get Naan at pretty much any grocery store. We actually use them as pizza crusts among other things. You can get them in various flavours, most commonly plain and garlic and you can even get them as hamburger size to use as burger buns. I hadn't realized Naan wasn't available everywhere else.

322 pages and I'm talking about Naan on a ROL thread. Fun!

If things get too screwy I may have to drop a few ADRs to get things done. Seeing we're going to Disney first if that happens I may spring for a few extras over at the darkside.

If you guys don't mind... We're staying at the cabins in Ft Wilderness, planning to swim, dine, and Chip 'n' Dale campfire on arrival day.

Arrival Dinner: Whispering Canyon Cafe (any other suggestions?!)

(MK day)
Breakfast: BOG pre-park
Lunch: Pecos Bills
Dinner: either in cabin, or P and J's Southern Takeout (Formerly Trail's End To Go)

(Epcot)
Breakfast: In cabin or P and J's
Lunch: Akershus
Snack around the food booths
Dinner: TBD--considering: Rose & Crown, Coral Reef, Biergarten, or off-site near Epcot

(AK)
TH breakfast or dinner? Both currently booked, undecided--waiting for the mythical dining package beast unless it's no DDP
Flame Tree BBQ lunch or dinner
What about Sanaa?! Or Yak N Yedi? Ugh

(HS)
1900 Park Fare breakfast before late arrival (Maybe I should change this to a non-char meal that would impress DH?)
Mama Melrose F! package dinner

(MK)
Breakfast in cabin
BOG Lunch
Columbian Harbor House dinner

This is our first time ever eating at MK (that I remember, went once) so advice is so so very appreciated!
Love Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food is really good and my kids liked the antics.
