Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Yes, I know. The food looks to be poor quality and does look to be dumbed down to me. That's my personal opinion. Plus, if I can get really great, authentic Mexican food (Not talking about Tex-Mex here. I am talking about a restaurant run by a well-known chef from Mexico, who is also a James Beard award winner.) locally without the hassle, wait, and prices of Disney, I am going for that. Also, there are many other places and cuisines that are harder to come by locally, that I would prefer to try at Epcot. I just wanted to preface my opinion, so that the PP would know that I can't speak to San Angel but could speak to the food booths.
My mom and I really enjoyed our meal there last fall. Mom had an enchilada thing and I had a trio of things. The virigin margaritas were awesome too (I was pregnant at the time)...

But there are other places we'd like to go for our upcoming vacation. I really do think it's hit or miss.

Now, 2 years ago, we had a horrid meal at Le Chef's.

I so agree with you. I've been following Josh since he started his site but he's crossed over in to the hate on Disney, they can't do anything right group and it's annoying. They aren't perfect but they aren't always wrong either.

BE CAREFUL!! He might call you out on Twitter for this!!! :scared: My friend told me that he tweeted out a link to my last post about him here on DIS on his Twitter account the other day. Guess he has time on his hands in between Hitler videos... :rolleyes1

This is why we won't bother with Teppan Edo again. We have 3 cook at your table restaurants here in town. I didn't want to but did it to cross it off our list. Turned out the chef we got had worked here in my small podunk town prior to going to Disney. What we get here was identical to what we got there. So it's not worth our time or money to go there too

I am with you on Teppan Edo. We tried it once and probably won't go back. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. I would much rather go to Benihana, which I don't think we even have in town. I thought the sushi from Tokyo Dining was basic, but pretty good, so I might be tempted to go there or try a QS in Japan.

So I was for sure thinking today would be the day because I was in a car accident - car flipped on its side, I was pulled out the window, and amazingly enough, I'm totally fine - this morning and my phone was somewhere in the car! Glad I am ok and that I didn't miss anything!
Oh my! Glad you are ok!

Ditto this. I will say that there was one exception, which was an INCREDIBLE F&W event we attended there... multiple courses with sake and wine pairings... AMAZING!!

Blech! I thought the food at the QS in Mexico was horrific. But we do like San Angel a lot. It is not typical Americanized Mexican food though so it may not appeal to many

I should clarify that to me, Mexican food is tacos and quesadillas and I'm not familiar with the real stuff. And, we only had the nachos. 3 times. When my fiance finds something he likes he sticks to it! :)

I still love Disney & I find his site quite amusing, but I think that's just my abrasive sense of humor.
Hey -- I can be pretty snarky myself! While his negativity (IMO) gets to me, that's not the main reason I'm done with his site. Honestly, it's his downright rudeness and nastiness -- especially on Twitter and in response to anyone who dare disagree with him that have COMPLETELY turned me off. That is not a sense of humor -- not funny at all, actually -- that's just uncalled for. JMO, of course. And maybe I'll be featured in his Twitter feed again for this comment. ;) :goodvibes

DH agrees with you about the nachos. He loves those things. But he also loves those nachos we get at the football games, with bags o'chips and plastic yellow cups of liquid cheese. Shudder!

The first 2 times we went to Teppan Edo I thought it was really good. This last time the food was just not as good. We went close to closing and it tasted like it was left overs from the day. That was the last time I was there. We may try it again some day who knows.

Oh for sure. I didn't care for La Hacienda but we LOVED the Tequila food pairing we had during F&W. Then again, there was tequila involved.. it can make lots of avg things seem wonderful :)

I'm convinced that social media brings out the worst in people when used for anything beyond interacting with close family/friends & photos of cats.

No you're not the only ones.........LOL!!! I always avoid the EMH parks and go to the parks with lower crowd levels. Long, long ago when they first started the late EMH, I went, but it's been years since that's been advantageous for me. To each their own, though......
Same here. We avoid EMH parks. We are using one this time, an early morning MK one, only because they sprung a Halloween party on us that day, so we will use that extra hour in the am. But usually, if there's EMH, we go elsewhere
