Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Well, while we continue to wait for ROL(hope nobody is holding their breath for dining packages), I'll bend your ears with another dining package question.

For those of you that enjoy the Fantasmic show(DS4 loves it), would you rearrange your park schedule for multiple days to get a Fantasmic Dining Package(only opening is the day I was planning to visit during the morning), use a FP, try to get a 4th FP the day of, or just show up super early?

I leave in 21 days. I just want to see the floating lanterns gleam. Is that too much to ask?
I feel your pain - 30 days for us.

Just hope it doesn't get to the point where a low-key, spontaneous trip isn't do-able.
A spontaneous, low-key trip is always doable. What's not doable is expecting a spontaneous trip to have the same feel as a heavily planned trip. That doesn't mean it won't be magic. You just do different things, eat at different places, ride different rides.

I don't know what it's like to take a low-key, spontaneous trip to Disney...ha ha ha...

While we don't do the commando park thing any more, I don't do well in chaos (which is why dealing with this ROL thing is REALLY hard!!), so I plan out park days, ADRs FPs, etc. However, that doesn't mean plans don't change on the fly...but that's about as spontaneous as we get....

EDITED: We always leave an OPEN section in each day for folks to go back to rest at the resort, do pool time, shop, or just stay in the parks...so there is SOME flexibility built in.

This is our family exactly. DH hates crowds, so I plan what I can to avoid the most crowded times. We always go back to the resort midday to swim, relax, and recharge.

We are going for a four day weekend in November, now that DD is in high school and can't miss an entire week of school anymore. That means my ADR day is in May. I'm hoping all this ROL stuff is ironed out by then!

My DS7 came home from school today totally excited: "MOMMY! You can meet Elsa at Disney World!" Oh dear..... :faint: We most definitely won't score a FP+ for that M&G. Maybe I'll just tell him the Frozen show is where you can meet Elsa. There is NO WAY I will wait for two hours just to meet Elsa. I just hope we don't have to wait two hours to see ROL then either if they don't do dining packages or FP+ when we go.

Trying to decide whether we want to keep our San Angel Inn ressie or go to the food stations at Epcot Flower and Garden. Any thoughts on what the food is like at either?

That's what we do - "build in" our spontaneity/flexibility. I try to mix it up - sometimes it morning, mid-day or evening. That's kinda how I look at EMH too, with respect to doing them/avoiding them. Our kids are a little too young to take advantage of the night-time ones, but I was looking forward to those days!

I keep trying to read every page since last night, just to read what is new and BAHHHHHH....more pages pop up as I read! LOL!
Anyway.....Whoa.....I think I am seeing the bye bye to EMH hours and they now want to charge for that?!?! It's a scary thing, but it seems that their losses in Shanghai are making them just reach for money anywhere they possibly can. Makes me sad, but at the same time I am so glad that we decided to stay offsite this year, due to the cruise being our biggest expense!!!

Why can't you get a FP? I've scored them only weeks out before. Or head there right at RD or during a parade for less wait. It's not 2+ hours anymore.

I enjoyed my meal there but a lot of people don't.

It does have very nice atmosphere.

However, the food booths are phenomenal.

This is how I'd decide: do you have a long trip? Will it be hot that day? Would you rather have a sit down, air conditioned break or would you be OK walking around grazing at food stations? Seating can be hard to find for a lot of the food booths. But the food is interesting and good.

Even if you don't get a FP the waits for A&E are not 2 hours. They rarely go past 60 min anymore. Often Cinderella and Rapunzel have longer lines.

I would eat at San Angel. We loved that food. But, save some room for the F&G kiosks. The good thing about them (and also why it's not good for a meal) the portions are very small. 2-3 bites in most cases. You should be able to eat at San Angel and still get a few favorites at the festival

That depends on if there is going to be 2 shows and you're willing to wait up. How busy will it be when you're there. How bad is waiting an hour and a half going to feel to you. BTW don't give up ADRs open up at times so keep checking.

The food stations are out of this world. As for San Angel....well we eat there for the atmosphere, the food does nothing for me.
