RUMOR : WDW 5th Theme Park - "Disney's Night Kingdom"

I do have a question for you Dumbo... do you really think the Disney pets would be seen in their natural habitat? Even the CM on the train to CS said that the animals in their private collection were all born in captivity and most are approachable and have loving trainers/ care takers. They are exotic pets on display and in no way should be seen as anything but that... :lmao: :thumbsup2

Uhh, I never said the creatures would be in their natural habitat. If you read my response thoroughly, you would have ascertained that I was speaking of the lions, hippos, and penguins in their natural habitat (Africa, and Antarctica respectively) would cost much, much more than $300 to visit them in AFRICA or ANTARCTICA like upwards of $10,000. $300 seems like a bargain basement price. And furthermore, I would really be interested to see if you would hop in there with the tamed lions, if they are such domesticated pets. Would you let your kids pet them? HMMM? I wonder.
Everyone seems like they are being forced to go there. Why would anyone care if they build this park or not, no one is going to make you go there. And it sort of seems like even if they do build it, you guys will still go there anyway just because you have to stay on top of all the disney endeavors. They already have 4 parks with thrill rides, how many more do they need?
I really don't like rides, they are sort of stupid and make my stomach hurt. I know everyone loves them, blah, blah, blah, but I still love disney world because it is so much more than just Cedar Point with people in costumes. And to ROBO, I am not a mindless idiot with my wallet open. I just really enjoy animals, I study animal behavior in college and someday want to work as an animal trainer. I think animals are really amazing, sometimes, a lot more amazing than people. And there is a lot to be learned about human nature just by observing animals, because we are animals. So I think people who love animals will love a park like that and the level of enjoyment and connection you can make with an animal will far exceed any connection you can get from a sticky seat and steel bars.

I feel the need to point out once again - this is not an official announcement or ANYTHING close to it.. it's pure rumor & speculation at this point.

A lot of what Jim Hill reported was based on some consumer marketing 'test panels' that were done asking visitors what the would think of this or that.. that is a LONG way from the finished plan.

Remember - in the original plans.. Epcot was supposed to be an actual city where you could live. ;)

Stuff changes between test panels and implementation.

Anyways.. THIS ONE is pure rumor at this point. :)

I'm not digging this Disney's Night Kingdom idea at all,I I mean I'm hearing feeding a hippo, dude I've heard those are some seriously dangerous animals which I don't want to get anywhere near.Putting on some goggles to see bats in pitch black conditions, dude if I want to experience this I'll go to a Halloween Horror Night house where I know nothing is going to bite me in the neck.Rock climbing? You mean those walls they have in malls and other parks that cost $5-$10 to climb????And this fun is going to cost $250,I'll never pay it.First of all I'm not the biggest fan of animals,I have the Miami Metrozoo 2 miles from my house and I don't think I've been in 20 years so I always laugh when I see the Travel Channel special showing AKL guests getting up at 5 or 6 am to go on Kilimanjaro Safari when the animals are a bit more active.Animals are OK but Disney is better off spending these hundreds of millions of dollars on new attractions at DHS,MK and AK or building a new park, there's a reason that villains idea has been around forever, why? because it would be a cool park and if they wanted to build a park with later hours it would fit perfect. Also where are they going to find these extra 4,000 cast members if they're already having trouble staffing the current parks.I also have to agree with ROBO as I'm not into group activities in parks,I like theme parks for the freedom you get when you're there that you can do what you want when you want!!

Disney would not put it's guests in danger when creating a new theme park or attraction. Safety is a number one concern for cast members and guests. There is no way they would let us feed lions/hippos/crocodiles etc.

Again this is a rumor and Jim Hill media is notorious for making claims and starting rumors about Disney's plans for expansion and development.

It sounds fun, but more like a regular vacation. What happened to the Disney "Magic"??

I'm not sure on your numbers.. but presuming you're close on those numbers and presuming they sell out most nights.. that's over a hundred million in profit a year. That pays for the capital costs in a little over 6 or 8 years with interest and then more profit after that... (You gotta factor in payroll taxes and benefits on your salary numbers..)

Not bad..

And if the cast member count is lower.. then everything happens faster and pure profit arrives sooner.

Since it got to the number crunching phase I have to point out that most corporations want a ROI of four years (most look closer to three years) or less. SO, if Disney were to spend $512 million, they would want to make at least that much back in less than four years.

But, in reality, I believe this is nothing more than Jim Hill nonsense..........IMO

$10/hour?? oh I wish!! :rotfl: try slightly above minimum wage

Actually that would be just above minimum wage. the hourly cost is not just what you get paid, it's what you cost the company. (SS contributions etc...)

If Disney were, one day, to build a 5th park at WDW, it should (IMHO) be called "Disney Legends Park" or something to that effect.

The park would be an extension of the Magic Kingdom (and, perhaps,Hollywood Studios) since its attractions would reflect Disney classic creations but with a modern twist.

Just think what these suggested attractions would be like?

Steamboat Willie's Wild Boat Ride
Davy Crockett's Frontier Rapids
Flying With Mary Poppins
Mickey Mouse Club Hall
Herbie's Fully Loaded Car Track
Flubber Encounter
Jiminy Crickett's Encyclopedia

Be your own Imagineer and create an attraction for "Disney Legends Park."

I think this is a complete Bummer....you wait and wait for the excitement of what Disney will bring next, and this is it? Yikes! How many more years do we have to wait now?????
I agree. What a bummer. With all of the talented imagineers and geniuses they have one staff, this is the best they can come up with. I can just see the look on my husband's face when I say, "Hey, honey can we spend an extra $1,800 to roam around with animals in the dark?" Yeah right! We would have no interest in this at all.

I would rather see them finish the other circle in Epcot than see this come to life. I would love to see more countires from around the world!!

I like this idea and the attraction would be a ride similar to HM, with a fantasia theme and you would go through the movie of Fantasia.

Personally, I don't believe a word of this article. I've been wrong before but this sounds like a rumor/hoax.

I don't believe this article either. Jim Hill is not a reliable source unfortunately. What I think is probably true is Disney is doing market research about a new park (there has been talk about a new park for years) but like I'm sure hundreds of others ideas they have, it's something still in the discussion phase. I honestly don't ever see this one making it off the table.

I think the premise sounds great and each and every activity is something my family would love. However, as I have not yet started crapping money, it's highly unlikely that going to this park would be a regular event for us.

We would love this! We go to Discovery Cove every visit(yes,$289 is a lot of $$$$)and we think its $$$$ well spent. A whole day in paradise, with INCREDIBLE service from the staff, food and drink all day AND a free day at Sea World! We also like that attendance is limited to 1000 people. So,yes,it sounds wonderful!!!!

NOT interested. And more than a little perturbed over the thought of turning the Adventurers Club characters into tour guides.

Thanks for the biggest laugh of the day!!
