RUMOR : WDW 5th Theme Park - "Disney's Night Kingdom"

What is the Adventurer's Club that everyone is referring to?

I'm not familiar with that. :)

Its at Pleasure Island.

Kinda FUN.

What is the Adventurers Club?

The Adventurers Club (AC) is one of the eight clubs at Pleasure Island (PI), Walt Disney World's nighttime entertainment complex. You will not find anything quite like the AC anywhere else on the island. The AC presents an interactive entertainment experience in a setting reminiscent of the fictional 1930's gentleman adventurer clubs, as depicted in Hollywood films of that era.

What kind of entertainment is presented at the Adventurers Club?

The AC presents themed interactive entertainment. Think of the AC as a theater that is presenting a play. In ordinary theaters, the audience is seated while the action continuously unfolds on the stage in front of them over a fixed, limited period of time. The AC, however, is a bit like going to a theater at no special time, sitting right on the stage -- one that encompasses the entire theater -- and having the action sporadically occur all around you, even to the extent of your functioning as an extra in the play.

You are a visitor to the Adventurers Club on New Years Eve 1937, when the Club holds an open house for the purpose of recruiting new members (that’s you). You will be invited to become initiated as a Club member and participate in the various activities that are held that evening, such as casting your vote for the Adventurer of the Year.

AudioAnimatronic Robo or Robo Robo?

I'm just trying to remember where those invisible "hippo-stop" barriers are...
and how many "points" against gross ticket fees I'd take.

This IS getting interesting.

Who's got Jim Hill's cel number?

Robo, what do you think the guest will be FEEDING those Hippos :rotfl:
It would make one heck of a Dis meet and greet :rotfl:

Better yet we can take the Buzz ride and combo it with the hippo's feeding on Robo... I can see the Dis'sers now... all giddy with excitement with night vision goggles on, paint guns in hand waiting for poor Robo to run by screaming for dear life.... GET HIM BEFORE THE HIPPO DOES and you get 5,000,000 extra points :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

This is starting to sound less enticing again.

Honestly, I do believe that Jim Hill knows people within Disney that know things. But I also believe Disney knows that Jim Hill knows people within Disney and they feed him possibilities as just a way to get a gauge on public opinion. Disney has some major confidentiality agreements and someone leaking something this big without Disney approving it is gonna get sacked.

And honestly, some of it makes sense. Disney wants to do something boutique park wise because it sees this as a possible lost revenue source. They also ARE gutting Pleasure Island right now... as it doesnt fit in with their goals for Downtown Disney. That means doing something with the Adventurer's Club (though I dont agree that they need to move it... if anything, they should expand it where it is because it is a tiny place and could certainly stand some more room... I think it could fit into the rest of DD quite easily, even without all of the other clubs).

So expanding the Adventurer's Club into a way of immersing guests into a new high end boutique park makes sense. As to the examples provided by Jim Hill as to possible attractions, I think this is where speculation comes into play.

Imagine if this was the draw (Characters used are just an example) -

You arrive at the park to find out that Hathaway Browne jets you off on a night time journey riding an Indian Elephant while you wear nightvision goggles to see tigers, orangutans, gibbons, and to catch a look at the ever elusive Sumatran rhino... of which there are less than 300 in the world.

Samantha Sterling drafts you into boarding 6 person open air trucks to visit all sorts of African animals on a small reserve recreation of the Ngorongoro Crater. The trucks each have their own authentic African game driver and offer hour long excursions to see lions, hyenas, water buffalo, zebras, etc. at their most active. The driver entices many animals up to the truck with the onboard attachment of browse.

Madame Zarkov invites guests into The Wondrous Night... a one of a kind effects laden show drawing animal spirits (holograms) into performance with african dancers as they recreate a sub primal african ritual. Animal spirits walk amongst seated guests until guests are pulled into the show to participate in the calling of the night.

Otis T Wren convinces would be travelers to tackle a walking trek through a South American jungle including a trek through an ancient cave filled with SAmerican microbats, beautiful waterfalls and 30 ft stalagmites, only to emerge into a forest where a bridge collapses behind them and the only way to get back to base camp is by a 500 ft zipline over a river of crocodiles and pirahna.

Emil Bleehall hosts the kids camp where scouters of all ages can come check out and pet all sorts of exotic critters including snakes, lizards, and crocodilians. Animal handlers demonstrate parrot vocalizations throughout the evening only to be one upped by the presentation of the largest snake in the world, the reticulated python.

Fletcher Hodges hosts a new artifact lounge... where REAL exotic artifacts are brought from around the world and put on display in a one of a kind museum.

To just think, this was all thought up in a few minutes. Just think what Joe Rohde may be able to cook up. I think it could be quite cool.

BAD idea. There's much more that could be done at their existing parks before opening another one. However I don't think what we're reading would be what the park actually was. They're not going to have you feeding hippos unless you're throwing at them from a distance, and you're not going to just roam around with wild animals. However some people will like the idea of getting to have animal encounters. I think it could be good, but not at the price mentioned! What COULD work is doing some new exhibits at AK and having an extra special behind the scenes tour of them after park closing that could include feeding the animals, and maybe the rock climbing and such that you could only do in the tour. It would be in a separate area so regular visitors wouldn't see it. A whole new park though sounds ridiculous. I want more things at the other parks first, a hotel that caters to families larger than 4 people!

And just because you see several places post a rumor doesn't mean it's true. Those people/places could have seen it posted at one place then passed on the info, but that's just spreading it, not proving it.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I'll never "see" it because I wouldn't pay to go.

Exploring CAVES.

:welcome: to the DISboards, PrincessKara!

Thank you! I guess I should have introduced myself before I started posting in threads but I saw a rumor for a 5th park and was like :goodvibes:

Also...exploring caves? I hate the caves at Tom Sawyer's Island during the day so I can't imagine I'd enjoy bat filled caves at night for $250. :sad2:

Doesn't really interest me very much. Maybe when they have more details when and if it is actually announced I'd feel differently, but as it's described now, I'm not interested.

I guess I don't really get why no one seems to like this idea. It sounds really cool, especially for people who love animals. I have been to Discovery Cove and it was awesome. We are not rich, we just saved up to go. Granted it was just my husband and I, but it was totally worth it! We got to swim with dolphins, all sorts of reef fish, rays, and sharks. They also had a giant tortoise you could pet and feed, an armadillo, and some other type of furry animal that I can't recall at the moment. It was an amazing experience to be that close and hands on with many types of animals. I went to Busch Gardens and fed giraffes, it cost us $240 and I would have paid $1000. It was the single most moving experience I've ever had with an animal. I know I am a sap, but I totally cried at the end. Feeding hippos, playing with penguins and watching lions hunt, sounds like so much fun, and it would cost a lot more if you were to see these creatures in their natural habitat so for $300, and no vaccinations or grueling plane trips, it sounds pretty sweet.

That's what they want to hear.

Just call 1-800-IllPayMore and please have your credit card ready.

(Any bids above $1000?)

OKAy Mr. Hippo food... ya better watch it or Dumbo there might be first in line with the paint gun :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I am with Robo though, the park as discribed just sounds dumb and not Disney quality.....

oh come on now, where is your Disney spirit! Ask youself WWWD?!:rotfl: :rotfl:

:wizard: :rotfl2: I am giggling like crazy over here at the visual I just made...

I'm thinking WALT put in MECHANICAL Hippos, that's What Walt Would Do, thank you very much!

Your message sums it up nicely. IF this rumor is true, and I'm not saying it is (although like ChrisFL I heard about it from other sources before Jim Hill "announced" it), it's not designed to appeal to everyone. That's why it's called a "niche" or "boutique" park. It just needs to appeal to a small few, like yourself, who are willing to pay a premium price for what the park offers. You're exactly the demographic they'd be looking for. :thumbsup2

I definitely agree with you...and Discovery Cove is amazing. I think it's more that people are disappointed with this being the next theme park as it's usually ten years between new WDW theme parks. This seems like such an extension of Animal Kingdom and I think Disney World fanatics were hoping for something entirely new and exciting in a big way, rather than a "boutique" park. Then again, when/if they make the announcement it could be so completely different from this description that we'll all be like :cheer2:

But like I said before I'd rather they use the money to rekindle the Beastly Kingdom idea in Animal Kingdom and maybe reopen some kind of boat ride there as well.

I do have a question for you Dumbo... do you really think the Disney pets would be seen in their natural habitat? Even the CM on the train to CS said that the animals in their private collection were all born in captivity and most are approachable and have loving trainers/ care takers. They are exotic pets on display and in no way should be seen as anything but that... :lmao: :thumbsup2

They're going to build 2 new hotels to go along w/this new theme park yet they can't complete POP's Golden Years? :confused3

Why can't they just add a section to Animal Kingdom and make a Discover Cove type area where you pay extra. I don't understand making a whole new Park for this. Oh well it will be yet another park we don't go to.
