Rumor Time: Vice President ....

Condoleezza Rice. I read this on a source one step up from the National Enquirer, but it was a convincing case. Sometime in the next 6-months, Dick Cheney will step down due to health reasons and President Bush will appoint Condoleezza Rice to be the next Vice President.

This is probably wild rumor mongering. But it sure would be interesting if true. Any thoughts? Oh, and I don't get the change to watch teevee news shows. For those that do, has there been any such crazy talk?

I've been hearing rumors like this since the last Presidential campaign. It was rumored to happen before the primaries, then it changed to right after the election. It should have been done a long time ago, imo and this is one of the President's major flaws, he too stubborn, much like his father was and refuses to make a necessary change. Bush 41 held on to Dan Quayle way too long when a change was clearly in order. It would be like a breath of fresh air if Condoleezza Rice was to take over for Dick Cheney. He's been to much of a lightening rod for criticism since he took office, for my taste. I have never really cared for the man and his style, especially after the hunting accident and how it was handled. I doubt a change will ever take place and that's a shame because Condoleezza Rice is a talented, smart woman. It would be great to see a woman and a person of color, break another historic barrier even if it was just for a short while.

Cheney is Bush's "ace-in-the-hole" against impeachment.

The only reason I see Cheney resigning is if there's enough evidence against him of conflict of interest, war profiteering, intelligence fixing, etc. Then again, if there's enough evidence against Cheney, there's also enough evidence against Bush.
