i don't think TGMR has been the same since they put the huge hat in front of it! it used to be a great landmark at the end of the street!

How about tearing down the stupid hat in front of it instead? Can I see a show of hands on that one?![]()
I agree. Its the best stunt show at DHS. That LMA is tedious
Thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks LMA is "tedious"... very nice choice of words!![]()
If it wasn't so loonnnnnnnnnngggggggg...... it wouldn't be too bad. But almost 40 minutes of little black cars racing past each other!!!![]()
There was another thread that was talking about attendence over the last 7 - 8 years. And it seems obvious to me that DHS needs some upgrading.
Maybe a renovation of GMR would be a good start.
Then let's get some good shows back in.... like Hunchback!!
actually, what they need to remove the backlot tour ans set up a new "land" over perhaps grow out Pixar Place. They also need to convert Echo Lake into Skywalker Lot with several star wars and Indy Jones attractions.
The Great Movie Rode is not going away any time soon.Really, I am not disappointed this ride is going away. Put something better there!

"Something better" would be likely to cost $150 million or so.
Sure, if a sponsor steps up who is willing to pay enough, and insists on replacing any particular existing attraction at WDW, it could happen. But what's really the chance of that?
Next, someone will post that Splash Mountain is being closed and replaced -- and some people will respond as though it's really happening.
Exactly!......uh, it's the rumors board, after all.
Exactly!
And that's why I'm always surprised when people respond to a rumor as though it's a "done deal" and that fact that it appears on a computer screen must mean it's true.
Here's a fictional example:
Someone might post, "A CM told me that they're tearing down Cinderella Castle and replacing it with a 180-foot-tall Buzz Lightyear. You'll walk into Fantasyland between his legs."
Then someone might respond, "Oh, no! That's awful news. It will ruin the Magic Kingdom. That's so sad."
Then someone else might respond, "Cool! I'm tired of the castle. It's been there too long, and Cinderella is such an ancient movie."
The third response might be along the lines of, "This rumor makes no sense from a business standpoint, and hourly WDW CMs do not know what's really being planned in Disney's executive offices and behind closed doors at Disney Imagineering."
Yes, I'm more likely to be the one writing the third response.
It's fine to post any rumors, but it's also reasonable to analyze those rumors as to their source, whether they make business sense (Disney is a business), whether they're consistent with how Disney tends to operate, and if there's any evidence (regulatory filings, construction equipment at the supposed site, domain names registered, etc.)
If I read a rumor from Al Lutz, it has a lot of credibility based on his amazing track record. If I read something that begins, "a bus driver at WDW said that they're going build..." (and where there's no evidence of that "fact"), then I'll will approach the rumor with healthy skepticism.
That Temple of Peril coaster at DLP isn't that great.
I wouldn't mind seeing some more updated films, or perhaps things that are more iconic than "Angels With Dirty Faces" with today's family audiences.
Speaking as a recalcitrant geek, I'd love to see an entire Narnia "land." And Id love to see someone (preferably WDW) cut a deal with New Line to create a Middle Earth park. Maybe a WetaWorld in New Zealand?

I'm not sure a Narnia land would work too well... given the religious implications of the book it might tick off a significant number of people.
